I saw the 1981 Steve Hackett "Cured" tour, featuring NICK MAGNUS, and now with his 3 solo albums, music created with Steve's brother John ( also on the Cured tour ), excellent music awaits you, by Nick!
Love this and the entire album! I bought it when it came out in 2010 and listened to it non-stop for what must've been weeks. Excellent concept album about a secret experimental colony of genetically-engineered men who got separated at birth due to a military strike. It details how they later found each other and what transpired once they learned their powers. Sad but beautiful... and extraordinary music! Nick Magnus was the keyboardist in former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett's band for many years, and this album had many of the best traits of a late 70's Hackett album like Spectral Mornings. Get it!
Thank you for the insight! I didn't know the story of the album. The album is great, I agree. Thanks to your comment I looked up his website: www.magnus-music.com/solo_albums.htm To my surprise: new album is coming N'MONIX.Release date April 28th 2014.
ProgSympho Yes, I know. I posted the link to this video in a thread on the Progressive Ears forums regarding the new Nick Magnus album. The video for one new track, Emminent Victorians, is here on YT.
ProgSympho n'monix is done in the same way as this one, mainly becuase nick has got most of the same people working on it, love this song, my dad is the vocalist
King Edward Cool! So your dad is Pete Hicks? or is it Tony Patterson? (both of them sing on this track.) I had the pleasure of seeing the Steve Hackett Band back in 1980 at the Agora Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio. Pete Hicks was the singer, and Nick was the keyboardist. It was an incredible show, to say the least!
Magnificent song, from my top album of 2010. Plus Nick has got a lot of talent, and is a lovely guy who I've have had the chance to meet and to interview in 2010. I've stayed in touch since then. Really nice guy. He derserves tohave a LOT more success... as sooftne with good progressive rock artists. What amazes me is how he manages to sound like a complete band mostly on his own, he's got very good samples of real instruments and masters programming/sound design very well.
