I was given a few project files by Tristan and it contained this actual sound from when he worked with Astrix . Astrix actually made it using the plugins which come with Ableton but you've done a perfect job recreating it with Serum.
I swear I have the most fun trying to recreate your tutorials with the wrong tools. I don't have Serum, but right now I'm getting surprisingly close results using Sylenth1 for the oscillator and S+H, Xfer's LFO Tool for the formant filter (There's even a "variance" control that can be modulated), and then using inserts for the rest of the effects. Great tutorial as always! Thanks Dash
It's honnestly mesmerizing to see one of my all time favorite psytrance track basically come to life like that.. Yo honestly I might concider getting myself the software and all to maybe start making some tracks of my own. Good job man, very nicely explained tutorial :)
okay I litteraly just binge watched every video of you! I have been producing psytrance for a while now and this is GREAT! Really inspiring and love the passion and effort you put in your videos! Will continue to strive to be playing at events. massive sub and possible patreon (in the near future). keep it up!
they are not 'Astrix sounds', they are very already well-known sounds, and to say all, Kraftwerk about 40 years ago made known to the world with their awesome and pioneering songs... Check it out!!!
Instead of using the chaos modulator or an LFO, you can also assign the cutoff and variation envelopes to the velocity modulator, this way you can change the sound of the note by changing the velocity of that note
Heyy brother, I really love how you teach people how to make sounds they're really trying to recreate on their own but have no luck. I too am one of them. Could you please teach us how to make the bassline Neelix used in his track Dittany?
Yo dash brother! How are u doin? Hope you're fine and happy new year! Could you show us how Alpha Portal does these talking vowel squelshes in the song Acid Rain at around 2:50
Just discovered your channel!! These are by far the most helpfull tutorials on youtube. because i can simply apply these techniques also to the genre of prog and not only psytrance. im a producer myself and i would love if you also would feature some stuff from harmonika, vermont or aura vortex. they have some pretty amazing, tight and clear sound design, id love to learn more about how to create those sounds and basses they create :) hope to be able to support you soon on patroen
soundcloud.com/hallucinogenmusic/hal002-harmonika-lock-and-load-free-download This track is a good example for a complex build of various sounds and especially drums. I always wonder how to get such clear drum sounds coming trough the mix with so many other sounds hitting at the same time. Also it seems for the Bassline that for the different parts there are different lenghts on the bassline? its so complex i dont know where to start to understand all this madness :D Greetings from switzerland!
cool do you take requests on how to do stuff in Psytrance iv just installed serum after watching one of your videos and im in love im making sounds even im surprised at.
Right Firstly hello im from ireland, i make music as a hobby but im looking to learn what you know how to listen to a sound and know what wave it is and so on where do i start im looking to do this without college or courses any advice Dash???
Thanks for the video, very informative. Although I don't think you nailed the exact sound in the track, I think you covered the basics of the technique very well. Title is a little misleading though, by the way. Subscribed!
Thanks man, yea like I said in the video, its tough to get it exact without knowing the steps he took, I'm guessing he also probably didn't use Serum, but maybe Virus TI or something. Any way I just want to inspire other producers to get them going in the right direction, not create a bunch of Astrix clones, so I don't want to make it exact :)
How do you make that signature astrix bassline? His has more of a heart beat and living feeling.. especially his is track "Sahara"! would love to see how you do it! Cheers. Subbed
Check out my tutorials on Bass, it will get you close, don't use the layering like I use in Episode 3, but use the transient technique, that should get you on the right track to start :)
Hey Dash, firstly I want to say thank you for your insane tutorials. I have been watching you from the very beginning and I sucked when I started. But through your amazing way of explaining how the sound works has given me so much knowledge that I am now able to listen to other artist, analyze their tracks properly and even get pretty close to recreating their sound. That being said😊(see what I did there), there is one sound I am really struggling with. Yes it's another Astrix sound, but this one is very close to my heart. This song was the one that hooked me into the beautiful genre of psychedelic trance. The song in question is an oldie...... ruclips.net/video/4jzBVTqKees/видео.htmlsi=1hHglFWklkyTekbR The sound is the lead that he brings in on a drop at around 3:04/05 That particular sound and the way he arranged it over time has given me plenty of smiles and memories.
hello. Can you help me with the bass? because I couldn´t find it . It´s very hard for me because all what I found, I have to pay for it. If you can help me I would be very happy ! Thankss

man any chance you could explain/share the project to see how it's done with Ableton plugins? Thanks
FLG 6+ filter model with HPF turned up and some modulation on one of the filters will give you the metallic sound you're after ;)
Thanks 🙏😃
OMG!!! It is Protoculture in the flesh!!! Thanks man!!! I'm a big fan!
Can you explain on which filter you do modulation? And if it's a chaos or lfo modulation. Thanks!
i trying to create that sound , but the metalic sound doesnt come up.
can you expand your explanation please?
Does anyone know what an 'FLG 6+ filter model' is??? @@DashGlitch
5min allready ready for a full track. You are insanely skilled
