      Hey Alice, love your content however you teach like you're in a rush to pee. i know the trend is to make snappy and fast video content however, when you move so fast it^s difficult to keep up with what you are attempting to teach. why not spend a couple more seconds on each move so especially begins have a chance of following what you're doing. i'm also sure your views may increase if you take the time for people to follow what you're. just a thought.

    For me it's much more simple, like the macro/micro you talked about a year ago or something.
    When you sit down to finish a track you need to start with the arrangement, realize that EQ-ing and reverb is really not gonna help you right now and is only a way for your mind to not do the hard part, unless that works for you, for me it doesn't.
    So, arrange it how you want, filtering doesn't matter right now, automation doesn't matter, first arrange it like you're making a beat (this is why making beats is so simple and is a meme in the producer community). Once you're happy with the rough picture take a listen, now you can notice stuff like "I need to add some energy here, I need to make this arp come in slowly, I need this drop to surprise the listener" and add the automations like reverb, eq etc.
    For me it was very hard to separate the playful dancing mind from the mixing mind and I still struggle sometimes, it's almost like sitting down to read a book, it's hard, but you will get better at it.

      Well said, we are very similar in this regard. I don’t bother with mixing, EQs, stereo fields, automation, FX, etc. because it distracts me from the core idea and I never finish. Arrangement is #1. Everything else comes last.

    Seed based and Macro bits were like eye openers to me! Seems I always loved doing those things in the beginning but lost focus on it down the path of learning complex stuff. Also lost interest in music for quite a while due to that I reckon. Thanks for these videos really. And hey.. You're looking prettier everyday! 😍

    Thank you so much Alice !!
    I was struggling around the last weeks with exactly such problems.
    I have a song where nearly everything was ready , I got the hook , variations, drums , bass line , everything .
    But what did I do in the last days ?? I put here a FX , there a break , re-arranged and re-arranged again , because there was no real structure .
    Now after I saw your video , I started with your structure and suggestions , and it was really quick and easy to go forward significantly .
    Thank you , again !! 🙏🏼

    Hey there! Sorry to bother you with an unrelated question, but in your course about Melodic Techno: Everything about Low End, in the 3rd to last video: Audio Rendering and Phase Alignment, I was wondering:
    Can I just freeze and flatten all my midi tracks after I've mixed them as good as I can, and then start mastering when they're all flattened in audio format anyways?
    Or do I have to "bounce" them and re-import them as audio tracks/stems?
    If the answer IS the latter, do you have any videos on bouncing and reimporting to prepare for mastering?
    I haven't finished your other courses but I'm getting closer! Maybe the explanation might be there!😅

    • @Alice-Efe
      @Alice-Efe  3 месяца назад +1

      No worries! 😊
      You can freeze & flatten on place. No need to export and import again.

    This is so backwards from how I have been working. I usually have my arrangement figured out long before the sections are complete, but its causing problems with coherence. My biggest obstacles are good, loud mixdowns, and the months it takes me to get through each track because I get very easily confused with 30+ tracks of audio going (and constantly bouncing around from project to project because i get so sick of listening to the same thing for months at a time).

    I hardly get past step 1, and I hoped to see the transition from a loop to various paterns like verse/chorus/etc. Instead as in all "instruction videos", this step is left out and the arrangement takes over. But you can't arrange what doesn't exist yet. How do you go from a seed to a verse, to a bridge, to a chorus and so on? That would be an interesting video. And not just in words, but by actual examples.

    • @13Skribbles
      @13Skribbles 3 месяца назад +9

      So I used to really struggle to finish songs I will come up with a great loop and I didn't have a problem creating a buildup for the loop but I could not figure out how to get out of the loop and transition into a verse or a chorus etc.
      Then someone gave me a piece of advice and it was like a key that broke me free so now I'm gonna hand you that key and hopefully it will set you free
      When you are at the end of bar loop copy and paste it a second time however mute everything except for the base or the drums or even maybe try just having just the base and the drums
      The way out of a loop most of the time is to remove all of the high-end instrumentation synthesizers guitars vocals whatever high hats bring it down to a nice low calm energy then start rebuilding
      And a bonus tip
      Copy your 8 Bar Loop then rather than starting your 8 Bar Loop on bar one try starting it on bar two and going to bar five and just see what exists in that grouping
      It will contain part of your rhythm but not all of it and that can be a very fun and interesting breakdown you can use to come out of loops
      And another tip with your loops is once you build your loop and you think you've got it all the way you want it try taking your drums and pushing your entire drum one beat to the right so your kick doesn't start on beat one it starts on B2 and it's off in a poly metric pattern
      Sometimes that can bring life to a loop for the second drop
      Anyways experiment was taking out instruments but allowing your base to continue at the end of your loop and I believe you'll be able to find your way into your next transition
      Good luck hope that helps

      You need to pull in a song you like and straight up copy the arrangement using markers. Don’t worry about copying someone else, worry about that once you’ve copied and finished at least 10 songs

    • @KFordmusic
      @KFordmusic 3 месяца назад +1

      I’m talking down to the details, did they put a riser there? Then put a riser, are the cymbals fading out? Do it. 10 times for full songs.

    sorry to complain but, please compress your vocal a bit more, it is often a bit hard to understand because it's inconsistent in the midrange, consonants get burried :/
    other then that, your content is pretty awesome, keep going :)

    I know of some producers that use the seed based method regularly, but their method is a bit different, they plant some marijuana seeds and then they smoke the marijuana, get high off their mind and get to working on their song lol
