    TOP TIP - the SMALL terminal on the solenoid is for low current starting! Just put 12V on there and it will stop you melting your screwdriver! \Thats where that trigger starter is meant to go - not the full load current of the starter!!!!!!

    you should jump the main battery terminal to the small side terminal on the starter solenoid, your sending voltage straight to the field windings so the motor is spinning but the solenoid is not engaging. ummm try watching a you tube video on jumping a starter with a screwdriver ha.

    Helpful info for the future. 1. All work equipment will have dead batteries at some point. Make your life easy and install Anderson connectors on literally everything. 2. When a battery is this hard to install, RELOCATE IT after all ( your time = money). 3. Always try and "bar over" a motor on a dead piece of equipment before using the starter. This can save the piece of equipment for a catastrophic failure if seized. WELCOME BACK WE MISSED YOU.

    ADD MORE TRANS FLUID!!! It has plenty of power to make it up the hill but the trans is slipping because of low fluid. If you keep running it low then you will burn out the clutches or pump.

    • @prestigemanufacturingky
      @prestigemanufacturingky  3 месяца назад

      Thanks for the tip. I actually did check the trans fluid and it was full. The transmission wasn’t slipping. The tires were actually slipping on the rocks.

      @@prestigemanufacturingky did you check again after running it? If it's been sitting awhile the system will need to work out a lot of bubbles and air pockets.
      Having weight on it may help with traction but a cheap fix for the worn tires, is to regroove them. Amazon has some cheap hot knife regrovers that should work.

    What a beast of a fork lift, I'll bet once the gravel is compacted and you have weight on the forks it will easily climb that hill. I enjoy seeing things saved from the scrap yard, CNC machinery or equipment!

    It's hard to tell from a computer screen, but the older starter likely didn't need to be rebuilt. The shop may have caught it if you asked them to bench test it. Like the other comment said you might have jumped the solenoid wrong, and only got it to start by accident.
    This would explain why both the old one, the new one, and the rebuilt one kept free spinning. However, generally when a starter doesn't kick out on good power, all you have to do is replace the solenoid. Of course, you have to bench test the solenoid to verify this.
    Anyway, It's all a good learning experience. I would go back and jump it correctly a few times. Because you can save a lot of engines with this knowledge. Plus, that's cheap money spent on a 10k forklift, totally flip-able buy. I'd just personally wince at the cost of new tires if it's anything like dump truck tires.

    Also maybe there is a youtube video of how to wire up an ignition switch for a starter for a piece of equipment, since the old owners obviously gutted all your wiring for your ignition switch. Very smart of you to just have your old starter rebuilt!

      I did actually find a couple videos on rewiring that switch and I’m just going to route new wires.

    You got lucky that the transmission is good. I just found a 5000 lb. dual tire Datsun Forklift like yours for $800 and it runs and lifts great, but the owner claims the diffential is out, so it does not move. You can't even find the parts anymore and your looking at a minimum of $1500 in parts to repair the transmission. I wonder if you dumped some black parking lot asphalt if you could get traction around your shop... Other wise you could buy an old Massey Ferguson tractor tire forklift that lifts 6000 lbs. and they sell for about $6000.

    • @prestigemanufacturingky
      @prestigemanufacturingky  3 месяца назад

      Yeah, I got super lucky that the transmission was good. What happened was I went with the wrong size rock and it doesn’t pack very good in that area so I wasted about $1000 on that type size rock. What I’m going to do is get a couple truckloads more a smaller, fine rock that packs real hard and hopefully I will be able to drive up it with that forklift.

      @@prestigemanufacturingky You bet. In my city the city started sprinkling left over asphalt from their trucks in the alleys and that has really hardened them up in rainy conditions. I believe asphalt is super cheap and I thought it is just ground up tires.

    nice one ye i suspect the stATRER was fine u were jumping the wrong connectors its also why remote button didnt work its no designed for thaqt amount of current u see the small terminal with the wires on on the starter u want to send positive to that it will engage the starter solenoid which flings it forward and starts the motor to turn

      I think I just have the wrong sized rock down. It is too large and does not compact well.

  • @cdesaulos
    @cdesaulos 3 месяца назад +1

    All you're doing is jumping across the starter high current terminals, not engaging the solenoid to engage the bendix drive to the flywheel.
