Added to his abilities in composition, I'd say that Jari's ability to play everything perfectly clean and precise has made him one of my favorite guitarists and musicians.

I love the riff in this song. It must have been influenced by something from classical maybe? The rythm is very melodic and pleasing to my ear which makes me feel that it should have been found a long time ago for such a good line. :o

She proceed to show me a video where he thrashed some bar chords and played a 10 second solo. Severely disappointed, sticking with Wintersun. \m/
Damn, Jari's a fucking machine. People like to compare him to other guitarists a lot by playing recordings of him and the other guy playing guitar, I think if they did it with live footage there would be VERY few guitarists that could match Jari's perfect playing.

@@Ajani. Because his vocals are too hard and playing guitar while singing that is just too much. With Necrophagist, Mohammad just growls, even though his riffs are very technical, but Jaris vocals are way harder. It's just not worth it tbh
For me, the death and the healing solo is easer than the winter madness solo...but both are fucking dificult and, over all, they are really really great!! WinterSun 4ever

What Jari says on his website is that he is a poor bastard (he used those words) and that it's very hard for him to work without money. He also said that he had about 10 albums worth of good music, but he doesn't want to release crappy quality CDs. (I'd still want to hear that).
@kane480 I suppose I can agree with that, though I haven't seen much live footage. Judging from the videos I've seen, Maenpaa really brings it live in terms of accuracy and technique compared to a lot of other guitarists.
I just wish that people that record these videos live would have thier sound coming directly off the sound board it would sound so much better, I'm not saying these guy sound bad live, i'm just saying you would hear it perfectly. Frank zappy used to do that and his live recordings you wouldnt know were live if it wasnt for the crowd cheering coming through the mics...Jari kicks ass, wintersun is a fucking great band!!!
