I feel what Alyssa is going through. It’s easier to acclimate to cold weather than warm. You can only take off so much clothing without being indecent. And it’s only the beginning of March. She’s going to need a pool, with access to shade over the pool. Because it’s not just the heat but the humidity. It’s going to be very hard this summer even if you have to coldest summer ever. Buy yourself a twin size electric size blanket because she is going to need the a/c plus a fan on her during the night. Buy a cooling blanket for her, it helps. Also if seating outside, a fan with a spray mister. And the I’m commenting from Canada, moving from the prairies to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and now living in eastern Canada where the heat and humidity are bad. Alyssa is in a more humidity and hotter place. Although, I’ve met a few Texans that complained about the heat on the Canadian prairies. It’s a very dry heat there. Just make sure she is very well hydrated with water and watch out for sun and heat stroke. You’ve had that and she won’t know until it hits her, then becomes very dangerous, especially if the hospital is far away. And take a cold shower just before getting in bed, don’t dry off. But don’t let her get her hair wet. She does want to have to dry it, defeats the purpose of a cold shower and going to bed with long wet hair is bad for her hair. Btw. Kim has a pool she is looking to get rid of. It’s not deep but better than nothing.

Hi Jake, I’m looking forward to 50 degree weather. We’ve been feeling pretty good that our temps have been in upper 30’s this last week. I personally like working outside when temps are 50’s/60’s. When it gets over 80 I have to take too many breaks. It’ll take Lyssa awhile to get used to the warmer weather in Texas, especially the humidity. The whole transition must be quite difficult moving that far from home. Billy is no dummy. He’s been around the block a few times. Animals can sense genuine kindness and they must feel that in Lyssa. Hope you can get your home expansion project completed soon.

Jake & Lyssa, I'm so happy for you both. It is so very true that it's so much more rewarding when you do things yourself. It just feels so much better. Take your time and do it the way you want it...I know you will. If I could give you any advice it would be to always communicate and share how you're feeling, listen to one another, and both be willing to compromise. Oh..and the other thing I tell my own children(in their 20s) is to trust your significant other b/c if you don't all it does is steal your happiness and wastes precious moments and time. I wish you 2 nothing but the very best and look forward to watching the 2 of you grow together!

Omg! LYSSA, you and I could be sisters...lol. we moved from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado to Georgia a little over a year ago. I'm always too warm and people think I've "lost my marbles. " I got my haircut a couple of weeks ago and my hairdresser explained the Georgia weather to me. She said, "you basically have 2 seasons: Hot and just a little bit cooler. For Alyssa to acclimate to hotter weather, every month or once she feels comfortable at the 60* move the thermometer up 1 degree. Do this until she can be comfortable at 75* to 80*. This will allow her to feel more comfortable during hot summers and decrease the chances of her getting sick in the summer walking in and out of a home at 60* and a outside at 80* or higher. My dad drove truck and had his AC set at 60* when it was over 80* to 90* outside and got pneumonia and it helped kill him. They found him in the truck unresponsive he spent a week in hosp. and then when he come home, he was exposed to dry mice droppings that once again made him sick and killed him. It started with the body going into shock climbing in and out of the cold truck and hot outside weakening his immune system and ended with the illness from the pneumonia from the mouse dropping.

It's wonderful to see the entire family working on the new house! lt will be netter when the temp reaches 70°F . My favorite months are April and October because in Pennsylvania that's when the temps reach room temp outside ( for at least a few hours in the daytime!♥️🤞👌💞

It's wonderful to see the entire family working on the new house! lt will be netter when the temp reaches 70°F . My favorite months are April and October because in Pennsylvania that's when the temps reach room temp outside ( for at least a few hours in the daytime!♥️🤞👌💞
