I am just so glad you caught the lug nut explosion on video. It's a great clip. Needs to be on TikTok and RUclips Shorts, Instagram Reels for good measure. Honestly the car looked like it was sliding great before the incident. I think even if you get a new car, you're gonna want to mod it before you're happy with it. Give the SC more of a chance. You and it deserve it. For as often as you'll be able to go drifting, spend a little money and take the SC. It's not like it's your job. The Talon can be your fun street car. If you filmed the oil drain back mods I think that could be popular. Want more updates! Hope you had fun making this. :D
I actually thought I lost that footage when an external hard drive died recently. I definitely lost most of the engine build footage, which is why I haven't made a video of it yet. Having said that, you do make valid points on keeping the SC. That's why I haven't made up my mind yet. That and watching the track footage reminds me of how much fun this car is. I did at least have fun making this video though. Definitely more coming and a lot sooner than a year and a half. I'll look into the Shorts, Reels, and Tik Tok nonsense. :D
@@FullySpooled Sounds great! Def hang onto the external. I have one I need to get recovered and I found a company that does it for $300 with good reviews and allegedly good success rate. Hoping it works out, hahaha. Would really love to see all the lost Fully Spooled videos!
Finally!! The argument for selling it is compelling, but on the flip side you've got so much time and emotion invested in it. Plus the V8 SC drift build is what really got your channel going, you sort of owe it to the car to at least get a few more events worth of seat time in it (and make content of that).
I will definitely be doing some more drifting before I let it go. I still haven't made up my mind yet, there's always a chance I say screw it and start welding in a cage.
This has been a great series! I feel invested in the happenings. I hope you didn't sell it, though I can see it's been two years since any more videos. Great build thank you for taking the time to share.
@@jordancouncil5583 thanks for watching. I still have the car, I just haven’t had time to drive it. Having a kid shifts priorities. I will likely sell it if the right buyer comes along, but not in a hurry.
@FullySpooled If i didn't get the feeling your on the West Coast and wasn't a bracket racer not a drifter I'll be all about taking dollars. I learned allot and intend to use your videos soon. I'm going to use an sc300/400 to make my next foot brake racecar. I don't need 1000hp just something i can make consistent. I also have a daughter but solo parent so I understand the shift. She'll get older and that frees up some time and gives you ability to make memories with her. Godspeed and look forward to more content if you so decide.
been watching for 4-5 years and am stoked for an update. still lookin for an sc300 manual or maybe a vette, but you always remind me i can accomplish more and this latest upload man you are one of my few subs on yt i hope it counts
It absolutely counts. Thank you! And thanks for being a long haul watcher. I'm not done making content yet, I just need to find the time while juggling everything. Appreciate you leaving a comment and watching. Let me know when you find your vette or SC.
To add to my comment I subscribed to your channel because you covered how to swap an ls in a SC nobody else has covered that to this day. But I totally Understand that without it being road legal is a headache to get to the track. I’ll still support your future content. SC related or not.
@@FullySpooled jeff, if you plan on keeping the sc and taking it to drift events more often i would highly recommend to shorten the knuckles on the hub. makes drifting a ton more fun and easier. it adds around 10-15 more degrees of angle. you cut the arm that attaches the hub to the tie rod and weld it shorter. partshopmax and odysseyfab are able to do it for you if you send them the bare hubs. im currently in the process of doing this myself and rebuilding the entire hub, once i have them installed ill write under this comment a brutal honest review if it was worth it or not. all of the sc owners who have done it said it was well worth it for the time and money as it gives a better/faster steering response
@@xavieuhr I actually already have this done. A friend was parting out his SC and he gave me his knuckles that were cut and welded by Battle Version. I just never did a full video on it. And yeah it makes a huuuge difference. Well worth it!
Good to see you back man. Im really hoping you keep the SC but i can fully understand your time constraints. Either way I can’t wait to see what you get up to this year.
Thanks man. Always appreciate the kind words. I'll definitely have at least one grip track day with the Talon and a drift day. I can't let someone else have all the fun.
LETS FOOKING GOOOOOO!!!!!🤘🏿 Honestly my first Reaction to you talking about Selling the SC was, "I hope he keeps it". But then I took a step back and realized that in reality it is a lot to juggle when you have a family to take care of and then to add on top of that, the SC isn't street legal so that adds a extra challenge. I Respect to your decision either way it goes brotha.
I hope I keep it too. But if the right buyer comes along, or the right trade, I'd considering parting with it. I did have fun making this video and remembering what it's like to drive this car again. I'll do at least another drift day to help make up my mind. Thanks for the reply. Always appreciate it.
Thanks for the comment. I made videos for about 5 years. I had a lot of fun, but it's a lot of work and I have a lot of responsibilities as a dad now. Maybe in the future I'll have more time, but it's pretty hard to cut through the noise with so much car content being made on RUclips these days. The effort to payoff ratio is pretty rough.
use anti seize on the lug studs. it'll keep the wear on the lug nuts down since drifting requires lots of wheel changes. im in socal as well. i frequent avs
hey man i think everyone here would love to see the content of doing the front core support on the talon! hope everything is going well with your new fatherhood
I got my SC300 in 2007. In 2008 or 2009 I 1JZ swapped my SC after buying a clip. It retained factory drivability and creature comforts including air conditioning. I would daily my car and take it to events at Adams and irwindale and even use my AC between runs. Fast forward to 2014 when I got a new job and more money and decided that I needed to put a 3 l bottom end on it. Well like everything else life gets a hold of you and although I have the block and heads done that's as far as I've got. Just like a Japanese barn find my SC300 is sitting behind my buddy's auto shop covered in leaves and dirt. One day I'll restore it to its former glory. For a great track car and daily driver car the SC a 1JZ SC300 with an upgraded turbo is plenty. I live in California so smogs run about 300 every 2 years to keep it street legal.
The Talon is the focus in the immediate future for sure. It's pretty close to being done - just needs some welding and grinding. And new coilovers. And rear subframe bushings, and..and...and.....
I would sell it and get a c5 vette. I have a c5 currently as a drift car and a sc400 as my daily. I was going to buy a daily and build my sc400 like you did with yours but it would have cost me more time and money doing that compared to just buying a beat up c5 corvette and keeping the sc400 as my daily. I still plan on getting another daily and ls swapping my Lexus but that would be an extra project along side the c5 that with just 10k purchase price and an angle kit is ready to rip !
Don’t sell the the drift car all the work that was put in would be for nothing. Congrats on the daughter. If you are thinking of a new chassis to work on I think a budget build would be friendly on your wallet but also makes it relatable to younger and broke people out there
Glad to see you're doing all right, and congrats on the baby! You should do whatever you think will end up letting you have the most fun, whether that's continuing to build the "SC Double Aught" or getting something that's easier to go to the track. Personally, I find doing the work on a car ultimately more fun than driving it sometimes; you should do what suits your fancy. I lost a wheel on a beater a few years ago on a highway exit ramp and it was quite an experience. I thought for sure I had tightened it back on correctly after doing the brakes, would have never thought to check if the lugnuts were loosey-goosey like that.
It's a lot of fun doing car work, but there comes a time when you just want to drive. Usually after several years of building said car. My free time is so limited these days that even being able to drive the car to meets or on weekends would be really nice. I never really thought of lug nuts as wear items before, but the severe horizontal loads on wheels during drifting made me painfully aware. Once I get my Talon running again, I can probably use that to do more casual track days, not drift days, and maybe that will make me want to keep the Lexus. We'll see.

Thanks. It took some time, but I really enjoyed making a video again. I need to get back to it without the year+ gaps between uploads.
