Walt's fault isn't stupidity, it's ego. He thinks he's smarter than everyone else, he thinks he can predict what everyone will do and acts according to THAT. But because he's all book smarts and not street smarts, he often guesses wrong, and then he lashes out and makes things worse. And because of his huge ego, he's unable to stop this repeating behavior, he ignores the mistakes that backfire on him and only looks at his handful of victories as proof of his superiority.

Yes, it is ego, but I don't see why having such immense arrogance, to the point where you and everyone else around you is constantly in danger, is somehow not stupid?
Walt telling Hank that Heisenberg was still out there was egotistical, sure, but also incredibly stupid.

Yeah Walt is logical and analytical, he often fails to consider people's actions are often guided by emotion rather than logic. He seems to realize this throughout the show though, and his strategies shift from pure logic to manipulation. That's what makes Gus such a good antagonist, because he's as logical, analytical and manipulative as Walt, but he's also in the life.

Walt is insufferable, but he is not an idiot and his enemies do the same mistake you do: Underestimate him. And he is absolutely right about Gus calculating to bring Jesse on his side. Its obvious and kinda confuses me that you don't see it. Walt is right about that - but he is to unempathic and proud to actually talk to Jesse. You blame him for lying and trying to get out of jail, but everyone criminals on this show is lying and trying to get out of jail. And some people commit crimes because it is the norm for them (Gus, Mike). The same Jesse, by the way, was a criminal even before meeting Walt (In 1 ep). You guys aren't giving Walt enough credit. His death warrant was signed the moment he saved Jesse when he confronted the drug dealers that killed his girlfriend's brother. every action he took after that was to prolong not just his, but Jesse's life as well, which worked out for him, because now neither of them will allow the other to die. Also, shouldn't Skylar have told Walt that she was giving away the majority of the money he had on hand away before doing it, instead of blaming walt for not paying ahead of time when he knew he had the money to pay for it already?

Marie shoplifts habitually but she thinks anybody who smokes pot is a subhuman. Hank bends the rules and assaults suspects on the regular but he's all about "catching the bad guys." Beneke defrauds the IRS to buy himself sports cars but illegal gambling money is "just not right." And if y'all watch Better Call Saul, you'll see the same theme recur. Privileged people delude themselves into thinking their own crimes don't count, somehow.

I think them saying Walt was stupid for talking back to Gus in the desert misses the point...which is, Gus was gonna threaten to kill Walt's family no matter what Walt did or said. Gus' threats weren't the result of Walt being disrespectful, those threats were the plan all along. The reason the show has Walt getting cocky and arrogant instead of remaining quiet is because the show constantly builds layer on top of layer on the character that is Walter White. As an audience we're meant to keep seeing moments of Walt's ego and arrogance coming through, and it plays a definite role in the events of the rest of the series.

Man... Every since season 2 episode 12 you two have just been unreasonably hating on walter for the worst reasons. Yes walt is not a good guy, he's Honestly horrible and pure evil and yall will really understand how evil he's become in season 5 but you two believe walt is just some idiot who randomly ruin things with his ego and pride. Like you said walt is very intelligent but his ego and pride is what's causing him to make these decisions you find stupid like the ladies at the laundry, him constantly beefing with tyrus and mike and unintentionally giving hank more motivation to continue the Heisenberg case but those things are purely out of his growing ego but it's not just stupidity and the way yall talk about those things feels like that what you want us to think especially Arianna but decisions such as walt letting jane die is a calculated, complicated and smart move you two just brushed over as a irredeemable action, which isn't a bad opinion to have, but that's the problem. yall simply don't understand the writing of walts character and the reasons why he does things related to life or death. If Walt had save jane multiple things could've happen, she would've seen walt in the house and most likely would rat his true identity out, she could move with jesse to wherever the hell they were going to go and blow all their money in their arms and eventually overdose on heroin and you're lying to yourself if you don't believe that. A horrible outcome would've happened to both of them and walt had to make the bad decision in quick time. Walt is reasonably mad at jesse in 4x9 because he literally did sign his death warrant all the way back in 3x12 when Jesse went out his way to kill those gangbangers on his own against gus's orders and walt had to save him resulting to walt and jesse having to kill gale and the war between walt and Gus while gus is at war with the cartel that started all because of jesse not keeping Peace and walt having to save him it makes perfect sense why Walt is saying and doing (mostly) everything he's doing and yall have so much spite and hatred for walt that you're blinded by the reasons of why he's doing these things that label "stupid". It's so annoying when yall just state things that doesn't make sense at all like walt being dumb for saying what gus will do to him. Yeah it's ballsy to say that in your position but he knows that it'll be a warning instead of a elimination because like he said he would already be dead so he has the ground to say that no matter how crazy it is because of his ego but it's not stupidity at all. You have some good points about walts pride and ego taking over but you completely miss the point that walt is being controlled by his ego and pride and not allowing himself to be under gus's boot and stay scared for his last moments working with gus so he uses anything that could help him with trying to get jesse to kill gus multiple times so the very thing that happens in this episode with not only walt being in danger but now his whole family. I can't really go in depth because I've seen this show and know exactly what happens so I'll let you just watch the show but please just have a better understanding on walts character not just being some crazy dumb lunatic but someone who has the intelligence of defeating someone like gus but allows his pride and ego to manifest into a horrible person that lies, manipulates and commits the worst crimes to succeed in his goal which will show in the next two episodes and the rest of the show that makes so much sense for us to understand walts character which you two clearly don't understand at all in this season. Yall do have great opinions and takes on basically anything else but for some odd reason you don't understand Walter White at all he's not this perfect crime lord like gus he is a man who submits to his own terrible temptations of becoming someone in his life in the worst way possible fuelled by his pride and ego yall are still entertaining and i cant for the other episodes but yall finish yall need to watch or even react to analysis videos on walter white because yall quite literally dissecting his character the wrong way and its comes off annoying as FUCK. I mean zero intentions to hate on yall cuz yall are really entertaining and I fucking hate Walter White (in the best way possible) and i know i didn't properly explain walts character but i hope you'll get a better understanding somehow, someway of walt. Walt feels stuck. He probably assumes he'll be killed regardless, so he tries to hold on to some semblance of power, no matter what's staring him in the face. She isn't quite prepared to murder anyone (or order a murder) yet but she's long since crossed the line in to justifying criminal acts. @fredwardandthebear3192 4 месяца назад

@@Dahmen-ll8cdHe's definitely very smart, but absolutely not a "master manipulator". One of his major character flaws is his glaring social ineptitude. Which, when paired with his ego, is constantly landing he and his family in hot water. Most people love Gus because he knows he's not the good guy; he has no moral duplicity. Walter does badass things, but he remains morally hypocritical up until the very end of the show, when he finally admits as much himself, and by which point he's already undergone his own metamorphosis. To deny Walter's flaws is to deny the crux of the character and what ultimately makes him the most intriguing aspect of the show imo. That internal struggle is necessary for his character arc. I think the girls will certainly appreciate his character by the end of the series, but for reasons other than simply being a "badass", because that's never what it was about.
