Wow, nascar racing strategies being employed to where I can actually see and hear the thoughts going into it, and how you have to work with the people your competing against to be effective at all, gives me an appreciation that I never had. It's not simply driving in a circle with the fastest car you can afford to build, it's just a lot more subtle of a skill set than road courses.
Quick tip: NEVER play Daytona on multiplayer because most of the trollers know nothing about NASCAR, they just want to crash. Daytona is the most well known and popular tracks for trollers because it’s pretty much the first track you learn about.

When we start races online pretty much nearly all of the people get obliterated at the start meanwhile some people are actually able to escape the giant crash

The problem with online racing games is the varying levels of people taking it seriously. If you go into it and you're not worrying about winning or anything, you'll have a blast. But if you're one of them guys that needs to be competitive, you're going to have a very frustrating time because 50% of the people playing this game online have zero skill and they're just looking to wreck as many people as possible. The game does require a bit of skill and understanding of the cars and how they race with the package in order to do well and be fast. The one thing this game did nail recreating how the cars race in a real life with the 550hp package. It's all about maintaining your momentum and drafting/side-drafting. The people online don't understand this though and they'll race with you side-by-side but that only slows both of you down, like real life, and the guys ahead of you will pull away.
And there needs to be a cleaner way to start the races. The game pretty much just throws you into the race with no warning or countdown really and half the lobby won't be paying attention and everybody wrecks right at the start. Once you've gotten used to it, you can time your acceleration on pitroad before the game throws you onto the track but there really needs to be some kind of cue. Like "The race is going to start in 10...9....8....etc." It takes so damn long to get a race started that I don't blame people for not paying attention.
They also need to do something about people cutting the track at road courses. There's no consequences for doing it as of now. You can totally just blow through the chicanes at the Roval and cut through the last hairpin turn at Sonoma with no consequences. Took me a couple races to figure out why some guys were nearly 10 seconds faster than me at the road courses, it made no sense, and then I caught one guy cutting at Sonoma and it's just like 'oh, they're cheating, now it makes sense."

Once you learn the pacing of the pitroad to start of the race screen, you can almost make it through to the start 100% of the time.

I kinda thought when I watched the first video of this game that it would be boring but it was pretty great
