I don't think the romantic type of love is special, and I think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other. I think humans should just ditch concepts like dating, marriage, and pair bonding. I feel like this world would be a much better place without romance than it is with it.
Personally, I think there shouldn't have been a kiss. I get there's a connection there and they both just faced death (repeatedly) so high emotions and the joy of still being alive but it also feels weird because they just met-met a short time before and then they get separated again. I think it would've been more impactful if the romance was left more implicit and subtextual. It would have given the "hopefully we meet again" lines more pull to them.
People jumped immediately into romance during these times because they knew life was incredibly fleeting. Werner and Marie both knew they’d made a connection that would be the love of their lives.
@@orangemascara I recognize people would jump into romance for that reason but that doesn't mean it's the best way to tell a story. Appreciating the fleetingness of life was perfectly established with the dancing and the kiss was not necessary to show that. You can also demonstrate a powerful emotional connection in ways other than kissing (the series Maniac does this really well). But, to me at least, it felt narratively disjunct having the kiss and then Werner surrendering to the Americans. Moreover it felt weird for Marie to develop such strong romantic feelings for having only know Werner for a few hours. Like you said, those few hours were very intense and had a lot of emotions and that's plenty to establish a strong bond, but it doesn't feel long enough to establish a ~romantic~ bond specifically. But mainly, I still feel it might have had more weight to the story if there wasn't that catharsis of a kiss for their relationship right before they were separated. It's the difference between leaving something you love behind versus leaving something behind that's only just started. While the relationship has only started with or without the kiss, the kiss is cementing that relationship and positioning it as something already mostly there, which doesn't make as much sense for me. I don't mean to say the kiss was necessarily wrong or a bad decision to include. My main point is there are plenty of other ways to establish an emotional connection besides kissing, and I think this show would have been fresher and stronger if it chose a different avenue for that, especially when it was such a short moment. I recognize this is very much a personal preference, but I just like having more subtext than explicit text, and I think for this moment especially it would have really benefited from leaning more into subtext.
@@PorterNetwork look up real life WW2 romances and stories… it’s remarkable how fast people became entangled. They were much more romantic back then with very different desires and hopes than nowadays…and yes, incredibly impulsive because of the era and war. It’s absolutely realistic that they’d kiss, if it was real life they’d have made love too. Many , many people fell in love immediately or lust during this war.
This boy travel across Europe to find her following a radio wave and I can’t get a text back, make it make sense 😂❤

A woman getting ghosted??? Impossible!

I'm so glad they shared a dance and a kiss in the series. Their interaction in the book is so short. I'm so glad this scene exist ❤
The interaction in the book is still cute, ngl.
This was so precious. Two young people connected across space and time and radio waves ❤🥹
It’s so beautiful!!

@@some_one775 Romantic love doesn't exist and romantic relationships are a terrible thing.
This was one change in the ending from book to TV that I was happy to see… The book ending broke me for a while.
Can you tell me the name of the part from the book? I can't seem to find it.
This Scene is so precious !!❤❤❤😢😅🎉 I cry everytime. This one will be hard to beat
People who've read the book , tell me honestly , were you able to hold back your tears in this scene ?
Yes. But it was absolutely precious to watch because we didn't get anything like this in the book.
@@BigMacCoyleI have a question, does the book mentions the 13.10 wave hz or is it just mentioned in the series ?
I dont cry usually in books and movies, but it was kind of sad.
No, no I wasn’t😂
Can you tell me the name of the part where they kiss (like in the video)? I can't seem to find it.
Finally , I cried in peace ❤

Looking forward for these two amazing characters to meet again. Season 2 please!
There won't be a season 2. It's labeled as a "Limited Series" meaning this is all we're getting since it's based off a book.
Oh I am just happy……man now I’m mad this doesn’t happen in the book😭😭 well at least I get the best of both….ahhhh
Masterpiece!
The character has the same name as me !!

@@PorterNetwork I totally agree
Straight facts but at the end of the day it's a show, the audience would be fuming if they got so close & didn't kiss, including me HAHA
