Thank you. I try to make it as straightforward and easy for my viewers as possible, and I try to show the whole process so you all know what each step looks like before getting started with the update. Have fun with your S-1!

Finally did this update. It's like a new instrument. Does a lot of the things I wish it had done from the beginning. I didn't use your explanation, but it was really clear and concise nevertheless.
Something that would be cool for the next update is if they could sneak another envelope in there under a menu option that you could tweak with a shift-envelope or something like that. I mean, it's just software. Right ???

I suppose they might be able to do something with software to provide another envelope by holding the Shift key. I have no knowledge of this, but I suspect that's not a focus of an update though because they give you the oscillator draw and chop functions to customize your sounds. In looking at all the compact Aira's, they may not be looking to provide any more updates beyond 1.02? Personally, I was just hoping they would add in true pattern chaining in a hypothetical v1.03 so I could pre-program 4 to 6 patterns to play in sequence instead of having to hit them live. That definitely feels like a 100% software add-on without hardware limitations.

I just wish they allowed for more presets :(

Thanks! Anyone else do this and have the computer youtube audio start coming through your studio monitors when the Roland booted back up, passing audio through USB? Neat trick. Thanks again.

Hi friend, thanks for the video, is a great tool to lear how update. If i ask for something else, how do you add other sound patches? i saw in thar this unit have 16 sistem patches and 48 user patches. how send the files or if is possible run other sounds? . what kind of files can support this unit? thanks a lot !

You have to create the patches on the S-1 itself. There are 64 patterns on the device. The patterns also contain your sound patch info. The first 16 are factory created on patterns 1-16. The rest of the patterns, all 48 of them, are empty and available for you to use and save. You just go through the banks: 2-1 though 16, 3-1 through 16, 4-1 through 16. You can also back up a limited amount of pattern content and re-install it onto the S-1 in case the memory gets wiped in a factory reset. But I don't think there are any tools that allow you to create a sound patch somewhere else (like on computer software) and then somehow import it into the S-1. That doesn't exist.
If you watch this short video you can see how I copy an entire pattern (which also contains the saved patch info) and paste it into another pattern:

Hi nice tutorial but What's New on the New update? Thanks.

The S-1 content is kind of a new idea for my channel and so far I've been doing my best to keep the videos individually hyper-focused and as short as possible, hence calling them "quick tips." In this case, I just wanted to focus on the update process so this video could be a resource for users even if Roland pushes out multiple firmware updates.
Briefly, v1.02 fixed some live recording and sequencing bugs and also added elements to a Riser/Downer function buried in the menus. I'm still experimenting with ideas for S-1 content based on how these videos perform and seeing what the user comments are. If people are watching finding these S-1 videos helpful I can make some more of them and potentially branch out by making a few of them a little longer and more detailed. Thanks for watching and thank you for your feedback!
