I love the fact that they are all about treating death as a part of one's life, and not the normal morbid and sad representation it receives. They are focussing on celerating the life that the dead person has had. I love this.
Maggie Smith talked about this in 'Tea with Dames', and she and the other cast were appalled by Miriam's positive approach to death because they all thought it was morbid :")
Some people really struggle with the concept of death, but there’s nothing shameful about that. It’s down to our culture over here. Things do need to change though.
My mum died last year, right before Covid became an issue. She held out until we brought her home from the hospital and took her last breath in her living room with my Da, my brother and I there. It was the singlemost horrible and at the same time wonderful experience of my life, and I am really happy that I could have been there to help her across the threshold so to speak. This has had such a profound impact on me. It has helped me tremendously with coping and I am no longer afraid for when my time comes.
Good old Miriam. She certainly is fun to be with. What a girl, love her attitude which might be blunt but is honest. Enjoyed all 5+ minutes of this videoxxx
Damn good idea! Some people may think it morbid but when you get to a certain age you get your things in order..it's the right thing to do not to burden your grieving family.

I LOVE Miriam! She's a breath of fresh air...a refined well mannered actress/personality and at the same time she's got a wild, ageless naugty side!! I just want to hug her and say thanks for being her....a true self!
I wish this lady were in my life. She is down to earth and so funny with it. Who cares about coffins or dying when Miriam is around, because she detracts from the death thing with funny quips and big smiles. We are of a similar age so I can identify with her. Love the Jewish accent.😂😂
My Aunts (my mother's sisters) were in helping my Mom choose their father's coffin. My older Aunt decided she needed to "try them out" so she could tell which one Grandpa would like best. 😂
@@Zaihanisme It really was. We loved him so much, it seemed wrong somehow to get one that didn't "suit him". The funeral director thought we'd lost our minds though.
My grandfather built coffins for himself and Grandma. There are photos in existence of them in their respective coffins with huge grins on their faces. Trying them out indeed. Lol
I think that's really nice. It seems everybody gets the same coffin when they die, just in a different color. To have one you make yourself & decorate is wonderful!
Miriam, I simply love you, that's what. And yes, people should stop once and for all with the silliness of avoiding the collision of real fact as death....
I like Miriam and her take on death is so like her. :) It shouldn't be a off the table subject. We all die someday. We've got to face the fact that somethings, like picking out a coffin or making one should be made by us not someone else who is grieving and stressing out (if we're fortunate to have someone like that ;)) over our death.
She played a dead woman in "Ed and His Dead Mother" which had a shockingly young Steve Buscemi in it too. There's this hilarious scene where Mabel (Miriam) having been brought back to life and, of course, turning into a flesh-eating zombie, runs down the street with a knife and fork chasing the neighbor's dog.
I talked about death we mum first got ill 16 months before she left, she picked her plot that's now a family plot, she had control of everything even her songs it was done in humour was a great experience and sorting it out with dad now, right down to his suit pants and socks what he wants done and after. It makes it easier for the family, if I go before him has also been spoken about. It something that should be said. And to know you have done right obayed last wishes is half the battle of grieving x
I’m having a burlap sack ..with lots of wheat and other seeds ..stuffed in ,and after a while they will all grow .And it will be lovely very good for the earth
The majority of ppl live in a bubble and don't talk about death until it happens to a loved one or us with terminal news or tragedy. That's where the mental anguish starts. If we discussed it more and made it a sensible part of out life maybe it would help when things happen and we are able to process it somewhat better. Dealing w death and grief is probably the most mentally emotionally and physically painful experiences a human can ever endure.
I talk about it with both my parents, mum got everything she wanted, dad has told me why he wants it's a great onversation and very very funny x I know what dad wants it will be done, x with love

A really optimistic lady.
The earlier we accept the inevitable, the happier we can spend our lives...
I just LOVE this! Growing up in a funeral home give me a "certain" sense of humor!

You'd better design it in advance, then! Otherwise, they'll find out.
