    Love the exercise but can you please explain how you decided on which notes to play for the left?

    • @thekeyscoach
      @thekeyscoach  Месяц назад

      Great question! I basically came up with a series of chords based on the notes of the scale. I only wanted to use the major triads in a key (I, IV and V) so came up with the sequence accordingly. Hope that makes sense! The note in my little finger (the scale note) needs to fit with the rest of the chord I'm playing.

    • @AlexSmith-gh3pz
      @AlexSmith-gh3pz Месяц назад

      @@thekeyscoach my question was about the notes in the left hand rather than in the right, did you just choose the order at random or is there something about the left hand note that relates to the chord you are playing in the right? Thanks!

  • @zcsermak

    It can be played arpeggiated by 3 or 4 fingers, similar to guitar fingerpicking. Maybe a good idea to create a video on that as an advancement (Part 2?).

    • @jannekotisalo
      @jannekotisalo Месяц назад +1

      Learn the rhythm and the notes right from the start. Then chords. After that, take some easy song and learn it. Practice scales and transformations of scales, e.g. translations. There are many instructional videos like this, which you can follow to get you started. Training requires determination, tenacity and repetitions, as well as perseverance. I have been learning to play for 47 years and now sometimes I feel like I can play a little. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

      Hey Jonathon! C F G is Csus4 - however, I don't think I use this chord in this one? This one mainly sticks to major triads.

    Is it applicable to all the major scales with the left hand 1 5 1 4 1 4 5 1? I have heard form others that, in the Canon progression, the right hand only simply plays the 1 4 5 chord. Wow, your teaching seems so match with that idea.

    I think you have good videos but I think this is unboring nonsense. we don’t practise scales to be musically explorative We practise scales etc to build up technique and acquire facilitative fingering.

      I'm sorry but I disagree here
      You are right scales are good for building technique and fingering - but this is one technical focus you can take.
      I think this video is fantastic at exploring the technique of learning the related chords for a key centre. I think once mastered here, you can create great music and get better at learning songs by ear. I think scales CAN be used to be musically explorative, if that is your technical focus.
      I did a very video which shows how this exercise could be useful
      ruclips.net/video/uDJ6DDrh5C4/видео.htmlsi=tG22txa-IRrN5wBs
      I don't claim mine to be a great video, I don't think I articulated the concept that well, and Adam does a much better job of teaching the technique behind the concept - but I hope it shows the outcome from practicing this.
      Understanding scales and related chords is one of the first things I like to tackle with students - thanks for the video The Keys Coach, I'm inspired by your approach :)
