Great idea! Thanks!
とても良い練習方法です、有り難うございました❤
🙌
Love the exercise but can you please explain how you decided on which notes to play for the left?
Great question! I basically came up with a series of chords based on the notes of the scale. I only wanted to use the major triads in a key (I, IV and V) so came up with the sequence accordingly. Hope that makes sense! The note in my little finger (the scale note) needs to fit with the rest of the chord I'm playing.
@@thekeyscoach my question was about the notes in the left hand rather than in the right, did you just choose the order at random or is there something about the left hand note that relates to the chord you are playing in the right? Thanks!
Nice, merci beaucoup
My pleasure!
Nice. I assume you don't mean this to replace scale practice but to augment it.
Absolutely!
It can be played arpeggiated by 3 or 4 fingers, similar to guitar fingerpicking. Maybe a good idea to create a video on that as an advancement (Part 2?).
Hi. I would like to purchase the extended PDF lesson book only (I don't need the backing tracks). Is it possible?
Yep! Here is the link: shop.thekeyscoach.com/b/RQs2t
@@thekeyscoach Thanks. I'll purchase it.
I am beginner help me with the practice of piano where to start
Learn the rhythm and the notes right from the start. Then chords. After that, take some easy song and learn it. Practice scales and transformations of scales, e.g. translations. There are many instructional videos like this, which you can follow to get you started. Training requires determination, tenacity and repetitions, as well as perseverance. I have been learning to play for 47 years and now sometimes I feel like I can play a little. 🤷🏻♂️😂
this is great but im confused about the name of the chord if c e g is a c chord then what is c F g? pretty awesome but i need to add it to my lead sheets... ❤
Hey Jonathon! C F G is Csus4 - however, I don't think I use this chord in this one? This one mainly sticks to major triads.
@@thekeyscoach ok thanks
❤
Is it applicable to all the major scales with the left hand 1 5 1 4 1 4 5 1? I have heard form others that, in the Canon progression, the right hand only simply plays the 1 4 5 chord. Wow, your teaching seems so match with that idea.
Yeah it works for all major scales - the same formula. 👍
Great exercise Adam! I love it when exercises are both practical and musical. I am looking forward to other videos in this series!
Thanks Jim!
Does this work in minor as well?
It does - if you’re doing natural minor, you need to flatten the third, sixth and seventh.
I think you have good videos but I think this is unboring nonsense. we don’t practise scales to be musically explorative We practise scales etc to build up technique and acquire facilitative fingering.
It can still be a fun excersize. Cant you learn through fun?
@@michellemonet4358 It is inappropriate . . It may appeal
as a way of learning something about the use of chords but as to the reason why we play scales it is attention catching nonsense presumably to draw people in
@@grahamcmusic "nonsense" I suppose is in the eye or ear of the beholder. If anyting can help a person be a better musician I say
Do it.
I am a self taught musician picking and choose from various youtube teachers.
Ive become proficient by learning in my own way. Never learning scales.
I'm sorry but I disagree here
You are right scales are good for building technique and fingering - but this is one technical focus you can take.
I think this video is fantastic at exploring the technique of learning the related chords for a key centre. I think once mastered here, you can create great music and get better at learning songs by ear. I think scales CAN be used to be musically explorative, if that is your technical focus.
I did a very video which shows how this exercise could be useful
ruclips.net/video/uDJ6DDrh5C4/видео.htmlsi=tG22txa-IRrN5wBs
I don't claim mine to be a great video, I don't think I articulated the concept that well, and Adam does a much better job of teaching the technique behind the concept - but I hope it shows the outcome from practicing this.
Understanding scales and related chords is one of the first things I like to tackle with students - thanks for the video The Keys Coach, I'm inspired by your approach :)
Thanks! Love your channel by the way! Been checking out your vids today 🙌
