I’m kind of disappointed the alt colors part of the episodes are gone. I completely understand why, but it was one of my favorite parts of the videos, speculating on what they would be and learning some stuff about the series in the process.
I think its fine for THIS episode. A lot of the costumes for the Pokemon characters are mostly made up. I'm pretty sure the only costume Mewtwo has that comes from something is Shadow Mewtwo. They removed Mewtwo's shiny color from Melee which sucked.

"Lucario is one of the only non-legendary pokmon who can learn Extreme Speed" boy, I don't know where you heard that. Only 9 Pokemon can actually learn Extreme Speed and of those, only 4 are legendary. So 5 non-legendary Pokemon can learn Extreme Speed. Though, 2 are through breeding.

Pokken I think does a WAY better job of making the pokemon characters feel unique then in Smash, to broach on Alax's point that in Smash they seem sort of simple and uninspired. In Pokken, there's a much greater amount of moves each character has and they have way more peresonality to them.
Also the fact that the animations are so much better.

RioluMan wrong. Accelgor gets Water Shuriken in its starting moveset. Granted, you'd have to evolve Shelmet at lvl 1, but still.

Sigh, I can't help but feel disappointed at your work with pokemon. These videos always leave me stunned, in how deep they reach a character's inspiration, but not with pokemon. This whole video has been "yeah, this guy has this attack and that attack", and little more. It feels more half-baked than the trainer in brawl.

I know I'm late but I would say that Lucario's aura on smash is a reference to Lucario's justified ability in Pokemon where if it's hit with a dark type move it boosts it's attack

In terms of how Disable functions in smash, it could be inspired by how it works in the Mystery Dungeon series, where the user gives off a flash of light at the opponent, and this paralyzes them, which in Mystery Dungeon makes them unable to attack for a few turns.
That would be possible if it wasn't for the fact that Melee came out in 2001 and Mistery Dungeon came out in 2006
or, the move is called disable so they make it disable the opponents
Aura WAS in the movies. That was basically a main plot point in Lucario's movie!
Three-year late response to Lucario:
It's possible that Lucario's Aura mechanic is ACTUALLY a reference to the ability Steadfast, which Lucario can use. When a Pokemon with Steadfast is hit with a move that causes flinching, it boosts their speed. It's, in a way, similar to that except rather than boost speed, it boosts attack power. This was one of Lucario's two potential standard abilities, the other being Inner Focus (which doesn't allow the user to flinch).
But pokemon has already a type of ability for attack instead of speed

2. The water swords that Greninja uses in the anime is actually aerial ace. Whether or not it's water was never disclosed as far as I know, but I doubt it is

Maybe Mewtwo's Confusion being a reflector mimics how confusion works in Pokemon: it makes the victim harm themselves.
People in competitive smash often call Mewtwo's forward air shadow claw. Seems pretty accurate
Okay, I want to add something to Pikachu, seeing as you just limited to cover specific moves rather than see the full picture:
First, a little cool detail I don't think many notice. In the anime, when pikachu gets grabbed or trapped by the opponent, sometimes he can escape it with a melee-range thunderbolt, or his ability can paralize them. This makes opponents wary of physical contact with Pikachu.
Now, in smash, a property about Pikachu's thunder is that the projectile is generated in frame ONE, leading to mashing thunder as a somewhat effective way of escaping combos, and thus leading the opponents to, guess what, be wary of the thunder.
That aside, l'll get into pikachu itself.
Like with all the pokemon, they didn't focus on putting in as many attacks or to portray his "competitive" performance, rather they made him a personality, a "face" in pokemon. But exactly what face it is, is what you missed or didn't mention for some reason. In the anime, in pokemon yellow, pokken, trailers, etc. In almost any iteration outside main games, he's portrayed the same: a pokemon that's cool, cute, fast and uses electricity. A big mascot that anyone can look at for the first time and like (though overexposure leads lots of people to hate him, but that's another topic).
And in smash bros, he's the same! He's a fast character, he uses electricity, he has happy-to-cheeky cute taunts, he has cool combos and he is very fun to play & watch. The special moves really aren't that important in his representation compared to other characters, because his concept is as simple as a cool, cute, fast and shocking mascot.
Edit: Now after watching the whole video, yes, you said the concept for pokemon is simple, but I still have the feeling you kinda rushed this. For every character in these series, you always go one step further than everyone else, and conclude a very deep understanding of the character. From Wario, to Fox & Falco, to damn Kirby. But... pokemon here get the short end of the stick, just like Ganondorf in the actual game.

Fun fact: Greninja isn't the only Pokemon that can learn Water Shuriken. While this is indeed the case in X and Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire changed the level-up moves learned by various Pokemon, and one of the changes was giving Water Shuriken to Accelgor, another ninja-like Pokemon. Chesnaught's signature Spiky Shield got a similar treatment in being given to Cacturne (another spiky plant), and Delphox's Mystical Fire was given to Mismagius (a ghost-witch Pokemon).
Smeargle can also technically learn all of the above, but that's a special case because Smeargle can quite literally learn any move except Chatter (originally because Chatter would cause glitches if used by a Pokemon other than Chatot because it can change the cry of the Pokemon that knows it, and now because consistency) by copying it with Sketch, and this includes the capacity to duplicate things like Spacial Rend, Roar of Time and Judgement, and even a couple of moves that don't work when Smeargle actually tries to use them, namely Hyperspace Fury and Dark Void. Hyperspace Fury fails if the user is not a specific form of a specific Pokemon, and that pokemon can actually change form and so be unable to use it, and Dark Void was changed in Sun and Moon so that it will fail if anything other than Darkrai tries to use it (mind you, it can still be called by Metronome, so that's a third move that does absolutely nothing when called by Metronome, alongside Splash and Celebrate, both of which have 0 effects at all outside their Z-power effect, and status moves can't get that when called by another move, even if the other move is powered up by Z-power, which for damaging moves causes the called move to become the corresponding damaging Z-move with the appropriate power).
Also, X and Y brought the Pokemon count up to 720 (well, 723, but the last 3 are Mythical Pokemon that weren't revealed when the games came out and are exclusive to events), and with Sun and Moon we have a count of 801 (one of which was revealed after the game came out, but it was within six months and even got a page retrospectively added to the official website). You were close, only 200 off. Oh, and the ones added in the most recent games are the most individually developed Pokemon. Almost all of them would offer somthing for being a Smash fighter, but some of them wouldn't work simply because of shape or habitat (Alolan Executor's much-memed neck is WAY too long for a fighter in Smash, and a fish isn't exactly good fighter material when it's all-fish in design, for example).

Lucario's aura thing is based on reversal, a move that does more damage the lower your health is. Granted, it doesn't make much sense to have that be an ability, but that just goes to show how much research you do.
Lucario doesn't come out of a pokeball, he kind of does a Dragon Ball power up in the start.

i think lucario's aura mechanic is derived from the move "Reversal" which is a fighting type move its pre-evolution has that becomes stronger the less hp you have.
Lucario's power build up is likely based on the fighting type move Reversal that Lucario can learn. Reversal does more damage the less hp the user has.

About the Lucario aura thing, I'm pretty sure there was a whole arc during the Gen 4 anime about Lucario's aura abilities.
Lucario has always been similar to goku. He’s been based on him since gen 4 released
