Great video. Just bought a 2018 Giulia and within the 1st week got the P2422 code and check engine light on. Fortunately after seeing your video it appears to be a pretty easy fix. Thank you!
I took mine to the dealership and they replaced it for me. Did not find your video on time. They told me to avoid this going forward i have to stop pumping gas once the pump goes off. So once it tells me its full dont try to force any more in or i risk gas going into the evaporation can. Thanks so much for your video very informative!
Heyo, JeFizz here! Just noticed in your vid when you showed the negative battery post that it almost appears like the post clamp isn't all the way seated on to the battery post (@02:14). A quick test is to grab the whole clamp assembly and try twisting it on the battery post. If it moves, just loosen the clamp nut a lot and then tap the whole clamp down on to the post as far as it will go. Re-tighten the nut. If you've had any strange electrical gremlins, that could be a part of the problem. Cheers!!
Thanks for the video, I don't have the P2422 code, but I have the P0440 code. Its related right? Should I try to replace my canister? Yes I've that when Im filling up and it stops before the tank is full.
Thanks for posting this vid just got a P2422 and the gas nozzle will keep popping off when filling up so I'm hoping its this part , just picked up a new vapor canister from my local dealership cost $187.00 .
I also found something here in Europe for 180euros, didn't buy it, but did you really get complete canister or just filter? Thanks I have no codes or issues or whatsoever but just to know in advance....
@@jflscenic The whole complete canister unit , after installation I can now fuel up without the nozzle stopping also no more codes , the new one I received is slightly redesigned like the video says I guess the original design was prone to clogging
Bro ive had this problem for so long... i looked around the alfa forms and they were saying it was that but i couldnt find someone that actually replaced the part. Ive just been getting around with just holding the gas and putting it sideways, normally that works for me and it just stops naturally from the pump itself that has a valve too
Check Engine light came on and went off a couple of times, when I took it to Alfa Romeo dealership they said that the only thing they found in the computer memory was excessive fuel pressure, but seeing your video, I believe the evaporator canister is probably due for replacement. @@club.alfagt
nice video buddy! was experiencing the fillup issue on mine too so might tackle this job in the near future question: I would assume the car needs to be cold (or cooled overnight) so that the fuel would not jerk off from the hoses once disconnected? any other precautions that I should be taking?
great vid, do you have a link to that service pdf? I purchased a fuel filter the other day but was told Giulias do not have one at the service. What a bummer
Sup man? Love your tutorial videos. Watching this one (I have sort of the same issue) I noticed you have quad pipes for your Q4. What type of diffuser do you have? Was this a custom exhaust? I can't be breaking the bank and want the best bang for my buck. I've been looking at trying to do this to mine as well. Thanks. Keep these videos coming! Helps me out A LOT!!
So I’m gonna ask what may be a stupid question. I’m getting a p0440 code (which is general evap system failure). It’s not the gas cap. I brought it to a mechanic and he said my canister is broken and that the charcoal is all loose inside. I’m assuming this is correct? The canister should not have loose material inside correct? Also, did this fix your issue? And could you possibly make a video or post showing the purge valve location?
@@andrewsmith5374 hey man I wanted to help cause I know how frustrating that code is. I spoke with the guys at alfissimo and they said this code is a common issue and that the eval canister should fix it. I ordered it and changed it myself. Was super easy (I’m no expert mechanic, I do like working on cars tho). I reset the code and the problem was fixed. I think it was caused by me overfilling my tank at the gas station (continuing to fill after the pump clicks). Hope this helps. It stressed me out for weeks bc my car would stay in limp mode.
@@andrewsmith5374 also I took my old eval canister off and it didn’t seem broken in anyway. I didn’t take it apart as I already had the new part. So even tho it doesn’t seem messed up the replacement should still be the solution.
@@club.alfagt what about after getting gas sometimes I’ll get a check engine light maybe 20 miles after refilling up maybe twice a month could that be a bad gas cap or the canister? What does that sound like to you?
Thanks for the video! I've been needing to do this and was considering making a video just because there wasn't another but it would not have been good. Looks like an AAFES pump, Army or Air Force?

How much did it cost you at the dealership?
Having the same issue, can you let us know how much it cost you?
Perfect timing... Thanks for the video! I just had this code pop up and ordered the evap canister from Alfissimo.

Totally dig all your DIY videos on the Giulia and your positive vibes! Keep posting content - good stuff ....and thank you for your service!
Thanks for taking the time to share this work.
We have a 2020 and it has done the click thing the entire time we have owned it and it has gotten so bad I am here today! Thanks for this
im wondering if the canister can be cleaned instead of beeing replaced?
Probably

Yep that was my solution too but I said fuck it. Easiest repair ever and now the shit works great
Awesome video, I think I may have that issue, I got no code, but I have to put the nozzle on slow or it keeps popping

Where can i order this piece ?
Is the Evap canister the same location on the Stelvio?

I have a 2019 do I need to get a bypass to use that obd scanner? Just bought it not too long ago so I just want to be sure haha
Same question. I’m guessing, by what I’m reading, the sgw is mandatory.

What is the code reader that you are using?
Obdmx+ …. It’s a must

Curious if this fixed the issue long term to date…?
Is this the same for a QV? These dealership rates are killing me!

Hey what about p0440 would this cause this code ?
How's those new rims treating you thus far? Haven't seen an update on them since you installed them. They holding up so far?
Best choice ever man I love these wheels. Lightweight, sexy, wide. Probably putting new wider tires on this summer if budget allows

Probably not

Terrible refueling, gas smell in the cabin, limp mode
