    Scanner card seems extremely useful for making test jigs. Just need a single breakout board with pogo pins, and you can scan a whole lot of test points automatically.
    Only a shame that the software from Siglent doesn't show the proper amount of digits, but at least the 'raw' csv data is available and can be used with a suite like numpy/scipy or matlab.

    Nice vid 🙂 I own the 3065X without Scannercard. I cannot find an place where to buy it but the price difference between X and X-SC let me expecting the worst ;-)
    As I could see in your previous vid it seems to be nothing complex on the scanner PCB - only a row of relays and something like ULN2803 as drivers. May be you can show exactly what's on the card so we can rebuild it for lesser money?

      100.000 clicks on relays is quite standard, and afaik this is a rating of switching under rated currents and voltages! If you are switching voltage signals there's barely any current flowing, so you can expect a lot more cycles. If I look at the datasheet of the card, the quoted 100k+ operations is under conditions of 1A/30V or 0.3A/125V.
      I don't know the exact type of relay used for this scanner card, but for example the (similar) G6K relays from Omron show a 1e5 cycle time @1A/30V, but 1e6 cycles @0.3A/30V, up to over 4e6 cycles @0.18A/30V...
      If we take that 1e6 cycles, if we'd use the card every day with 100 clicks a day, that would still be almost 30 years! Quite acceptable if you ask me.
      So keep in mind, those stated cycles are at a given current/voltage that you probably wont use nominally.

    Your scanner card build looks very good. I’m guessing this meter is designed to be operated in some kind of automated test fixtures. What communication does the meter use I assume Ethernet or GPIB ?

      Hi Chris, yes i used LAN but it has also USB, the scanner is taking the space for the GPIB option, but there is a Siglent USB-GPIB available if i am correct. but LAN works great!.

    Excellent Tony :) Good work! I would however be wary of the solid core Cat 5 cable being moved too much, as the solder joints are liable to move within the breakout boxes and snap. I recently repaired an industrial CAD CAM milling machine that had been installed using solid core cable and every single wire had broken off due to vibrations.! So long as you don't move the unit much you should be ok! :)

      i would think, mainly for relatively slow changing values, becouse it is scanning.. first thing that comes to mind is temprature sensors to monitor

    Not that it will definitely work, but you can adjust the pressure on the first wire stripper on a thumb screw.

    Wow, that is A LOT of work. Good job!
    The concept of simultaneous measurement does not actually seem to be done with this scanner card. The cycling through (as many as 16) inputs means that the time differential between measurements is significant. Hence to be really meaningful, this probably needs to be a device with steady values--but maybe that is pretty much what a multimeter always gets used for. So as long as the delta-t is not an important parameter, this may be useful.

      These scanner cards are mostly used for temprature i think... that does not change that fast.
