kirk doesn't care nobody and just having fun. He's pretending like he's the only one just playing by hisself. good to see his energy on small stage. 80's vibe
Kirk is really Lt. Dan in disguise.
@@deutsch-kanadier901 is that Forrest Gump saying
@@u.s.m.c.fewproudthemarines2987 Kirk acts like he plays for himself, Lars is actually playing by himself :D Love it :)
Except unfortunately he messes up his solos far more now. I've been listening too Metallica for 25 year's, and I've never seen Kirk play his solos this badly. It's sad, and unfortunate, because him and James are the reason I started guitar lessons when I was 16, and I'm 37 currently. I really feel Kirk has become complacent as a musician, and it's sad too see. He stopped learning, which is the one thing you never do, because then you lose your drive and passion. Still, Metallica Forever!!🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻
Playing by himself during the radio show 2020 right?
The whole band performs so much better when Lars is on point. Great to see him practising and hearing the outcome!
On point? It’s like hes playing on easy in gh 😂
Yeah I think he’s playing with metronome. It sounds soo good
Being the richest metal band got Lars drum lessons :)
@@grokl yet you are still in your mother's basement !
He's using a clicktrack. If anyone in this thread would invest in doing something for themselves, they could look it up and see for themselves.
The opening to the song ride the lightning has to be one of the best song openings of all time.
And it has one of the best solo's ever
Thank Lars for that, he came up with the opening for RTL
Fuck yeah.... Finally we see a setlist without nothing and sandman 🤘
There were a couple of shows without Nothing Else Matters in 2011 I think, but Sandman being absent is a nice change.
It surprises me how popular sandman is. They have at least 20 songs that are better. The lyrics have always seemed corny to me.
I hope they keep this in for when they hit the big venues soon. It displays Metallica 's depth and sheer power. They don't have to rely on two popular early 1990s MTV sponsored hit songs any more.☺ \m/
@@imnotanalky ummm, Sandman made them multi millionaires and household names. Without it, they are basically Megadeth.
Just because it was popular doesn’t mean it was as good as M o P, One, Blackened, Sad But True, Bleeding Me, etc. The lyrics for M o P are emotionally moving every time I hear it: Sandman lyrics have never been moving ( NEM is lyrically beautiful, and even musically). Sandman is very popular, no doubt: I’ve just never understood why.
Lars is playing really good. Best performance so far in years. Amazing job Metallica!
He can do the solid job but I've been tired of the snare hi hat beats plus fills 90% if the time for years. I wonder why he just keeps doing those two when he's intelligent and creative so he knows what he's doing🤷
I mean it's boring
@@MusickopatH when you make history like him then you can talk kid
actually here in Finland🇫🇮
WE can talk about things just like in Denmark 🇩🇰 where s Lars from without shooting each other with bullets or words like in US 😅
You know when I travel I always have something that refers to Finland on so I wont be thought of being Yankee or British or aussie because im white😅
And btw women also say I look young for 42 old school Metallica fan so thanx for calling me kid
@@MusickopatH
Lars is... slightly creative. Also he doesn't practice the songs unless it's strictly required, that's why he does the same snare fills often.
@@mattleo3211 Make the things Lars has done and you can say that
This is amazing. Lars' actual drumming really makes a difference
How you mean Lars' actual drumming
@@InfamousB9 Like he is drumming during this concert
@KTV 4U Youre right, definitely. Anyhow nice to see since drumming was a weak spot in the last years (decades) of metallica
I do not know anything about this gig's sound-afterlife in the studio, but I am pretty sure, that you do not want to hear the raw, unedited version of Lars drumming here. I love Metallica, don't get me wrong, but I feel huge amount of drum editing is in the air... All in all, good to see and hear them in 2021 yet!
@@sandorkis8813 I’m almost certain he’s playing to a click. You can notice especially in the Creeping Death intro
I just can't believe my eyes to see Metallica on such a small stage. It's like they would play in my fucking small local club :D They are truly Gods.
It would be amazing if they did a club tour again! I know it’s hard for a band of their size to play such small gigs, but they are so much better! There’s nothing like seeing your favorite band up close!
@@pauloprzybylski6522 20 bucks a piece!
@@StuPedassol :O
They played in at the House Of Van's back in 2015 on Kirk's birthday.
Nope not Gods… just talented.
Drinking some whiskey, watching metallica concerts, you feel like you're there. It'll never get old
I can't believe how good the band sounds
This needs to be made into a DVD!!!!!
Even a Blue-Ray! ;)

This is hands down the best Tallica concert ive witnessed in years. They all seem like they're in their zone and having fun. It makes whats coming out of them that much more appealing to the listener.
Is it me or did Lars play on the next level here? :o
He’s did indeed 😎🤘🍺
He’s really good
Yeah, he has upgraded his character
Yeah think because of where it was. Lars definitely on point here
sadly ..its not gonna last long!!!!!!
no more words. Really perfect sound! Godfather Lemmy will cry in heaven.
Love the small stage things, they sounded really good and on tempo.
Man 34 years listening Metallica still have 100% 🤘
I am very surprised by Lars playing. It really keeps a steady tempo. One of the most evenly played concerts. And most of all, Lars plays a lot slower, which makes the songs sound much better. I am totally surprised :)
Same here man he has to either be playing with a metronome or he’s been practicing since COVID
So you've seen every concert, to be an authority? btw glad this conforms to *your* specifications. We can all sleep easy now.
@@jantzenallen3077
You think the metronome? When he does some fills, the pace sometimes changes. Listening to such nicely played material is brilliant.
@@damianb2374 please learn to read with understanding. I have written a lot, not all of Scherlock ... Just no words.
@@Luke_kk yessir his fills also fit as well not over the top like he usually does man was on fire this whole show
02:18, the best Lars drum fill for those last years.
Just as it is!
Bro what happened to Lars I’m impressed!! Fucking amazing
Kirks energy man wtf. Haven’t seen him this energetic in a long time !! Same for James. This man Kirk was the only one head banging to battery lmao
Sounds fantastic! Loving the new controlled tempos, they sound so tight :)
How does it feel to be alive !!! It feels good 😎
Lars is playing like he has something to prove…
Please, Metallica keep this set list up for the 40th anniversary shows in December! Us fan club members will totally be fine with NOT hearing sandman and NEM 🤘
they would have included more obscure songs for that especial moment, like playing "to live is to die" a second time with proper tempo and not rushing it, and maybe Fixxxer live debut
@@JPX64Channel Carpe Diem Baby or something off of Load/Reload too again, because that gives Lars a wee-bit-of-a-break and James solos!
@@JPX64Channel I’d be good with that
Speak for yourself
Amazing improvise of Kirk in ride the lightening solo while James got confused
James was wrong . I noticed too !!!
I didn’t hear it, what part was it ?
@@duderock1 7:58 James needs to go into the next riff here. That's why Kirk sounds weird soloing over those chords at that time. James catches up at 8:10
He sucked on that solo, clean your ears out
The fucked that one up 😂
Great setlist and how awesome to see them in a small club.
What a band….in their element on the small stage
This is a perfect example about what does the "experience" in life do to you. They are in another level, you don't even have to bother, if is a metallica concert, you know it'll be amazing!
Best fucking band in the world. Period.
*Nickelback has entered the chat.*
Gojira wants to know your location
Why Kirk looks amazing???? Simply Rock God… very good shape!!!
Moth Into Flame has become one of my favourite songs of theirs. Sounds incredible here.
Kings never lose their majesty
Forever metallica
Not just what I've already written, I've been a fan since 1987, watched them three times & own more than 30 different recordings by our Lords of THRASH METAL!!
THRASH-ON!!
I wish Metallica would come back to the Old Bridge New Jersey area and play a small gig like this! These club gigs are so AWESOME!
Or even the Stone Pony.
@@jackshittle sorry for the late reply, but yeah dude, that would awesome to see them play in Asbury Park!
They finally got a handle on the tempo and it sounds fucking amazing! Master of Puppets was especially great!
Lars is using a clicktrack
@@ironnads7975 that’s better than him not having a click-track, now isn’t it Joe Biden pfp?
@@ironnads7975 how do u know? everyones sayings this but is it true?
@@ironnads7975 Good! :)
Metallica gets better with age evidently.
Thank God for these men.
I’m loving how they’ve slowed the tempo down and altered the tone slightly…sounds amazing and heavy. It’s great to see the boys back at it. 🤘🏻👱🏼♂️🤘🏻

This is sick! 🤘 I mean how cool would it be to see Metallica in a small venue on a small stage?!
This was an amazing show dude. Loud as fuck
They're great live! Last time I saw Metallica at a small venue like this, was a place in Berkeley called The Stone!
The sound - recording and mixing is very good. Thanks The Team at Factory Six and Jason Gossman!
Long live Metallica!! Great form all of them!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
41:00 you can actually hear kirk's backing vocals. first time i have ever heard them
Woah finally. Maybe old-age has gotten all of them the favour of strong/audible vocals, not just Kirk!
He has done it before
@@alansyahrial3072 yes i know but you can hardly ever hear them, only Rob's are audible
Way ahead of Thanksgiving - I just want to give thanks to Metallica for releasing all these songs for us who can't attend their shows!
Love hearing how a vet like Het carries his voice and changes it up during key parts. You can hear him work it. Really cool. Great show, wish I was there.
This is Metallica at his best. And yes, Lars makes a HUGE difference with his play in this concert, it's like they were very eager to be in front of a live crowd again. Just AWESOME. Long live to Metal! Long live to Metallica!!! ,:^)#
Wow, James sounds great!
1:47:27 I can’t stop watching
Those smiles
Living the dream
WoW! What are great set and lucky people to see this. Band sounds so tight.
Kirk, Rob and Lars are on Fire 🔥 here.
Glad to see Papa het is healthy and happy again.
Long live Metallica ❤️
Kirk butchered those solos....fire no.
I'd love to hear Broken, Beaten, Scarred in this setlist.
James is not the same James that gave me so pain on SM2 in theater... So tired, exhausted.
It's great to see this band at this point 40 years after.
The fury's maybe gone, but the energy and the passion still here.
Respect.
Oh my, fantastic setlist...
Lars doing the double bass on ONE. wow, never thought he'd do that live ever again
.... he always does it bro, only in the st anger era he got sloppy with it, but look every one performance in the las 10 years, he usually nails it
James plays whiplash and Ride The Lightening with his first white flying V 81'. EPIC.
Metallica has crossed over into LEGEND status
This is amazing!
That was one of the best performances of One in a while. Everybody's on fire, James enjoying and putting licks here and there. Rock \m/
FUK yeah! Lars is on fire here, love it!
And Kirk too !! 🔥
I feel so lucky to have been able to catch the encore section of this show. their style of music really lends itself to small venues better than arenas. best ive ever heard them sound live
great show! felt like the old days
Hell yeah…I love these smaller gigs!
This was awesome! They sound great and I love the intimate setting! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
wish i could like this a billion more times....thanks for sharing this!
The cadence of Battery, especially in the intro, is a beautiful thing. Even if it's slowed down, it still grabs me every time.
LARS IS BACK!!!! (And Justice Era)
Great to see this
Fkn love Kirk man dude still puts on one hell of a show! Living legend
Regardless of what he lacks in talent, he uses his talent to the fullest and always has! Other lead guitarists from the Big 4 just can’t seem to match that same unique/distinct style Kirk has, except maybe Marty Friedman when he was in Megadeth… but still, Kirk is (and always will be) in Metallica kicking ass!
The only exception was when Bob Rock vastly limited his solos… but we already know that story.
Thankyou! Greatest thing I've seen in a very long time!
40 years & Still on fire! 🔥💯
Can't wait to see them back in the UK 🇬🇧🤘🏼🖤
Thanks You MetallicA 🖤🎸
James is sounding SO GOOOOOOOD as if lately. mannnn I hope to see metallica live at least once before they hang it up for good.
Rather see this than those stadium gigs
Absolutely amazing. Love it
These small shows are AMAZING!
the metro was insane.
THX!
Omg will!! Thanks for this!!!!
sounds beautifull!!! thnxthnxthnaxxx 4 this!!
Damn I like the fucking sound on this show. Thanks for the upload!
many thanks for this video ... really awesome dude..
Bring back the " Eeet Fukk" Explorer! Has anyone seen James break that guitar out recently? For the record, James is my favorite rhythm player ever. He is why I love great metal riffs over a great solo. Both are incredible things and deserve respect, im not dissin'.
I think he just uses it for the studio only now.
The headstock on it has broken a lot of times, mostly during the 80's. So it got retired to being a studio guitar so it didn't get damaged further.
I think that eet fuk in the national museum of music because that guitar should be preserve 😁
james recorded some hardwired riffs with it thats for sure
I went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland in about 2014. They had a small Metallica exhibit off to the side on one of the floors. It had EET FUK and the old Flying V. It said "Do not touch" and was roped off. So of course I stepped over the little velvet rope and had my picture taken touching EET FUK. :)
Holy crap......I just listened to One and that was one of the best live perfomances of it i've seen in awhile wow.
because they finally played it on tempo, even a bit slower I'd say, which fits better to Lars playing imo.
Damn, I love these guys been listening to them my whole life and they are still kicking ass. I'm hopeful their new album will be sick whenever they drop one. Until then I'll just keep listening to all the good shit they already put out.
They all sound amazing
Thanks
YEAHHHHH WEEE LOVE U GUYSSSSS
Never thought I'd see Fade to Black played on Peter Green's Les Paul.
Had to look this up but holy shit is that amazing. Thanks for educating me!
Kirk using it to play this song since 2017. There are a lot of live performances on YT, check it out! (Imo the best is @ Belgium, 2019).
Many on RUclips with him playing Fade to Black with it! Look it up!
Glad I was able to help out for this video! Thank you for sharing the whole thing, unforgettable monent...experience of a lifetime!
These guys kill it every place they play the best of the best
This is one of the best sounding concerts I have heard since nimes. Everyone is so on point and the sound is awesome. Glad to see james is looking so healthy now.
haha it's funny to hear James still try to do his high voice from the 80's...He knows it sounds horrible but knows we still want to hear these songs...I respect that he does not scrap the songs he can't sing anymore...We want to hear it regardless!
Damn right. I'll take an honest old man's effort over nothing at all. I can remember the crazy shows of the '80s and early '90s, when he was drunk and going crazy. I appreciate these guys in all of their forms. I'm an old man now, too, but I still turn this to eleven.
He can still sing it and even better now, he doesn’t need that high pitch stuff
@@Diversagon Yeah!!
gracias por compartirlo!
"Whiplash" - I began to cry...But happy tears
James looks so relaxed and at peace this is absolutely beautiful
All it takes is one comment of Lars playing well.
It's like a VIRUS!!
The power of social proof, everyone's commenting on Lars, better comment myself.
The best I've seen and heard them in a loooong while. Lars, the vocals, Kirk
killer double drumming Lars!!!
Great performance!
This is greatness right here
спасибо тебе милый человек за то что выложил полный концерт.
this is great to see
from the current touring bands.... Metallica still performs the best!!!
1:47:20 I think James was going for a third "Oh Yeah" but Lars had other plans =)
Good catch
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, Mr James Hetfield.
