After all these years I'm just beginning to get into him. GREAT WRITING. And McGoohan is something else.❤

Hello Mr. Lunch Bytes! Thank you for posting this review, I happily received a box set of the 45 minute Danger Man episodes for my birthday, and am twelve episodes in and I have to say I'm finding them utterly wonderful. I really admire the moral code Drake sticks to in the show and it actually serves as a great tension booster in each episode. As you know that Drake isn't packing a gun and has personal lines he will not cross, when he's backed into a corner you know he'll really have to use all his wits to get out a seemingly impossible fix. I was also pleasantly surprised how ahead of its time it was when the stories revolved around the ex-colonies Drake involved himself in. The episode Galloping Major about a conspiracy involving rigged elections in Africa teams Drake with wry, intelligent local African investigators, and his combative banter back and forth with the various political ne'er-do-wells (Blacula's William Marshall on excellent form) allows for some fine satire and a thoughtful, amusing ending. This was street's ahead of other TV at the time. It also indicates another pleasure of Danger Man, the fact that the endings frequently had an amusing or exciting twist in them, and never relied simply upon a bad guy being shot or a base being blown up.
Finally there's McGoohan, and that crash zoom into his brooding, intelligent, somewhat glowering face in the credits says it all. Those eyes, man! He sold everything with great - almost religious - conviction and stalked the screen like some great big cat wearing tweed. He could turn on a dime from funny to savage and though inherently a noble man there could be a streak of barely suppressed righteous cruelty at times in him as well. You got the impression of what could happen if Drake ever went to the bad. A wonderful series. I also recommend 'Hell Drivers', which has McGoohan, Connery, the great Stanley Baker David McCallum, Sid James and William Hartnell in a deadly-dangerous trucking company where you have to make a profit - or die. No, really.
Thanks again! Sorry for the long ramble, looking forward to checking out the rest of your reviews.

You may ramble all you want here- we love that!
McGoohan is one of my very favorites. So much going on in every physical movement and in the intonation of every line.
I will most certainly look up "Hell Drivers." Thanks for the tip!
Our channel has a wide variety of reviews because a lot of them are with my daughter and I each giving our generational take on a film or series.
We are both fans of Siskel & Ebert and the "banter" style of reviewing. Our earlier reviews are a little rough as she was only 7 and I was feeling out the format.
The ones that are the most fun to me are when we look at "vintage" properties.
We love feedback and feel free to ramble about anything we've reviewed!!!
Thank you for watching and commenting!!!

I like this branching out from the original Lunch Bites format. Once again, very solid intro. I will have to agree with you on the sensibility of directing people unfamiliar with McGoohan and his work to Danger Man before The Prisoner. The Prisoner can be a bit convoluted and open-ended for the more casual viewer. At least that's how it seemed to me when I first saw it when I was in 5th grade, I guess. Besides being more straightforward narratively, Danger Man also has two additional things in its favor which are not directly connected to the original program. The first one being the theme song 'Secret Agent Man' for the American airings of the show under the name Secret Agent. The second one being the allusion to the show in the title of the British cartoon series Danger Mouse. I really like Danger Mouse. I also really like Danger Man/Secret Agent and The Prisoner.

Thank you for the compliments! I had a feeling that you would have a history with McGoohan and his work. I like Danger Mouse as well! (I should have mentioned it in the review- never thought about it!)

I wanted to watch this video at midnight...so that's why I did it until now, oh and I'm having a glass of milk as a snack.
I didn't know about this tv series, it sounds interesting. New generations may think that actual TV shows are better than the old TV shows (in some cases it's true yes), but a lot of good ideas came from decades ago (Flash Gordon is just an example).
My dad loves old TV shows (and movies too). I don't know if you have heard of this one called "Combat", my dad remembers the theme song of this show once in a while.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom. I have to watch this tv shoe, it looks really cool.

I agree. I’ve only ever seen the first series. However, the Prisoner remains one of my most favorite series ever.

I love The Prisoner as well. I just enjoy this one more as I find parts of The Prisoner to be indecipherable. I may be alone there. However, I think that a lot of mainstream viewers might feel similarly confused by The Prisoner. I'd hate to see them miss out on Patrick McGoohan because of this, so I always steer people toward Danger Man first. Thank you for commenting!!!

I did not know of Danger Man! This is really cool! I do love the James Bond franchise! (Not too crazy about Daniel Craig's portrayal.) I have to search around for this series! Thank you Sir!👍

Stephanie B if you like James Bond I think you’ll really enjoy this. I agree about Daniel Craig- I think Ewan McGregor would have been a better fit. (I think you can find Danger Man on RUclips!) Thank you for watching! Have a great weekend!!!

Also, I just felt like I wanted to explain to you and 1 or 2 of our other subscribers something. I removed the Aquaman segment because it was generating the type of traffic to the site that is inappropriate for a channel where kids are involved. These people weren't debating anything I'd said about the trailer but were instead leaving cruel and nasty comments. I saw no positives in this, other than having a discussion down the line with Lainie about bullying and ignorance. I felt it best to remove the entire segment from the channel. Originally, Lainie was supposed to do that reaction video with me. I don't think the fact that a 9-year-old would have been involved would have stopped some of these people from acting in an ignorant fashion. Moving forward, we'll stick with our small group of subscribers and the format and topics that we and our viewers enjoy. Hope that's okay. Thanks for always being there.

@@lainielooentertainment Sir, I did notice the tone of the comments changed. I don't even think some of the traffic even noticed the name of the channel. You did what was best for the family & the channel. I applaud you for that! It's sad that people can't be civil now & agree to disagree. Well done all around! 😁

Very simply, no Mcgoohan, no juice to the series. But lots of good writing and supporting cast. It is also how striking is the number of episodes set in places where black performers are prominent - at that time it was not so "cool" to do so. Definitely adult taste - ie, rich dialogue, engaging plots, some limits on thrills and punches.
