Fantastic mockup and creative blending of libraries! Love this song. Small detail: the second to last trumpet note over the final pedal point (at 1:19) should be an A natural though - as part of D major chord ascending. Otherwise it’s perfect.
Bravo! Amazing job. Is it possible to purchase a notated score from your midi arrangement? Also, can I ask you how you created the arrangement - direct from a handwritten manuscript or purely by ear from the soundtrack recording?
Hello, in principle it would be possible to get a score of this. However, I would have to make one first. As you can imagine, it's not so easy to do at the touch of a button just because you've already created the title in a midi mock-up. You have to clean up a lot because the use of samples doesn't always have anything to do with reality. I try to create an original orchestral sound. sometimes it's not helpful to know what a real orchestra would play because it doesn't sound the same with samples. So you have to find ways and means to make it sound like that. If I want to turn it into a musically meaningful score again, then that takes some time. Time that I don't have at the moment. Christmas is coming up in a few weeks and some people want a few more arrangements from me. that has priority. And to your question about how I did the arrangement: I did it completely by ear.
@ Thank you so much for your prompt and generous reply. Yes of course, I certainly appreciate that it’s not a simple exercise creating a notated score purely from midi information. Which is why I asked if you used Michel Legrand’s actual manuscript as a source. The fact that you created the track purely by ear is just astounding to me. Well done! I do a lot of transcribing myself in Sibelius notation software but for you to decipher and replicate all the intricacies of the orchestration so authentically is quite remarkable. Is your midi file available for purchase perhaps? I would love to attempt to notate it myself.
