- The is a massive culmination of human artistic achievement, created by four masters for the Scottish Millennium Festival, to commemorate the human suffering of the twentieth century, embodied and entrapped within the endless prisons of time. It is now housed at the Royal Museum in Edinburgh.
Thanks for your comment. I think there might be other such kinetic sculptures by the Sharmanka Kinetic Gallery which travel the world. They're Russian/Eastern European artists who have settled in Scotland.
You are absolutely right, there are indeed other kinetic sculptures and they are equally captivating as the one you've showcased here. It also appears they've been spending the spring preparing for a summer exhibition in Tel-Aviv... so I doubt I'll be seeing their work live for even longer now. Always the way isn't it? ~ B
I first saw this when i was like four or three years old. Amazing
Haha!! Yes..always the same I guess!!
I'm sure that this exhibit would be any self respecting Steampunk's wet dream, what with the grinding gears and delightfully dark feel. What is a shame is that I think virtually none of them would take the time to discover it... somehow [anti]fashion seems to be favoured over innovation substance once again. Pity really. But thank you for sharing... if I had the resources I'd be seeing it in person, however will have to suffice with using it as the fascinating talking point du jour :o) ~ B
That would have been a better execution scene than William Wallace in Braveheart. Check the execution vid I have on here with an early Scottish guillotine called the Maiden!
was Sawney Beane Executed on it, i think?
