- Gary Busey holds news conference at the Surf Ballroom and expounds on several subjects including feeling honored to be there and the helpful nature of cinnamon toothpicks
I love how Gary keeps Buddy's music alive. Gary is a great actor and performer. God bless you Buddy and Gary.
Lets not be ugly, a brain injury is not funny, ever. It never really heals, never gets better, and completely strips your self-confidence. You just are not you anymore. Who you are, and will be is a work in progress for life! Well done Gary!
You put it perfectly, thanks.
Too many people think he's faking. He's lucky to be alive.
Gary has always been one of my heroes!🔥✨
Gary's such a charismatic and endearing man with a beautiful smile, such a lovely soul ❤🇬🇧
Gary's the genuine thing, and always keeping it real, bless him for his dedication to Buddy Holly ❤🇬🇧
He's a Texan from Baytown near Houston. I love Gary Busey, he did a great Buddy Holly and he played great and sang great.
what an articulate well spoken man. I started as professional musician at age 15 and actually just played the Surf on Saturday October 23rd 2021. It is an amazing place and as a place for music history rivals the rock and roll hall of fame by leaps and bounds IMHO
He almost put me in a trance that fellow has got peace.
Buddy lives on let’s go! Thank you Gary
I like that the music was Buddy's drink not the alcohol
Gary is a energetic lovable guy , he went through alot of his own trauma in life. He was very close to death and doesn't seem to take life for granted. He loves Buddy Holly and looks up to him tremendously. We should all be greatful for his work on the Buddy Holly story as it was 99 percent true fact , unlike a few other movies that change alot of facts around and spin them to suit certain people's narrative. La Bamba was a great movie as well. Only thing is it changes certain facts about the coin toss and about Ritchie and planes. Sure Rithie was not comfortable with planes because of his school being underneath a plane crash wreckage while he was at his father's funeral. But he asked to go on the plane Buddy had charted, Tommy Alsop , Buddy's back up guitarists had said no at first when Ritchie asked again the 3rd time he said ok let's flip a coin and the rest is history. Just think if The Big Bopper not asked Jennings for his seat and Ritchie not asked Tommy ,it would have been Buddy and Jennings and Tommy who died. History would have been totally different . Anyhow I prefer when movies do it 100 percent accurate. Anyhow thanks Gary.
Yep in high school cinnamon toothpicks were a fad. God Bless Buddy and God Bless Gary. 🎸 🎸 🎸
What I like and appreciate about Gary is that he's definitely missing "a filter" that lets him be true to himself.
Great inte4rview especially about faith
An honor
In one of my closest friend's forthcoming debut novel (whose place-set, nonsense name is TWGPGs), Maria Helena said to Buddy, "Buddy, this is NYC", we've got plenty of venues in and around this metropolitan area to perform in." As a result, he did not go out on that ill-fated tour, and was still having a long, successful careers as a singer/song-writer/guitarist, a live performer, and as a record producer.
This was a minor detail about the differences between this world and the world in which TWGPGs takes place in.
With much love respect to Gary! That guitar was So out of tune. I do enjoy hearing you playing Buddy's tunes. Thank-You!
I thought he did good considering what he has gone through. Would love to meet him in person
Hey! It's Busey! So respect! Yeah, he is outside of his mind though.
I like it the angels , you believe
I agree with your comments too buddie
February of 2013
Talk about two polar opposites: Buddy Holly and Gary Busey.

Incredible !! Hear him say "History will be made at the Surf tomorrow night" I was there and he certainly did. He cleared almost 2,000 people out in a few minutes. He never had any rights to be there and it was an insult to Buddy Holly fans and music everywhere., Sad guy !!
say what
volume is terrible very frustrating.
Yup. Cinnamon oil. Get it at the pharmacy.
You believe in channeling
The lesson today children is when you're on your motorcycle limit your cocaine use and always wear a helmet
“What are they gonna come up with next, a mechanical dog? abbahhabbahhhhhgg”
Holy shit. Busey is nuts.
Most of us dont' but there are a few that unfortunately do. They are washed up too I guess.
The movie he made was a disgrace. They changed the names of the Crickets for God’s sake.
That was because the real crickets, Jerry and Joe B didnt allow their names to be used, because there was another movie script that thet had agreed to do at the time.
There wasn't much that they got right and he didn't look at all like Buddy Holly. His rotten teeth were a distraction too.
well they wont always be kids!! BUDDY
How he presented himself was obviously NOT what we want wanted to hear. If you can clear out half of the crowd at the SURF ballroom in just a couple songs then this is NOT how you are to keep individuals coming back to THE WINTER DANCE PARTY. I had the opportunity to have chat with the Valens family and all were not amused. My opinion is never to have Gary there again
Yes, Busey destroyed the music. It was one of the quickest exits of an audience I've ever seen. Keep him out of there.
The damned plane crashed,Gary not our three Friends😿😏⚓✈👓😝crash test Buddy's?😷😸
Riding without a helmet and lots of coke, stay safe kids.
I saw little clips of the show and I agree, he has lost his singing voice.
Original Crickets. What a dead weight.
I worked with Gary before "The Buddy Holly Story" and on that film He was always a little nuts. Nice Guy, but many problems. He should stop appearing in public.
He NEVER got the words correct for "Maybe Baby".
Dion1957 shut up you fucking idiot
I personally did not like "the Buddy Holly Story" and I hope that a far better and more honest accounting of Buddy Holly's life is made at some point.
That was horrible his singing
Awesome!
