The relationship between Lady Clay and Preston Payne sounds remarkably wholesome. I'm even more shocked that she doesn't become a love interest of Batman.
Wow! A female villain character of Batman who doesn't want to be boned by him. Also...a female villain that the Batman has who is not at least bisexual. Ok...that might be questionable considering Batwoman gave her a pep talk...and that Lady Clay can be anyone and who knows how many fragments become male.
Lady clayface is like a lot of female characters in comics she’s intended to have an interesting backstory and motivation but ultimately it’s not fleshed out enough to stick because she just becomes either forgotten or just a background character
She’s got so much potential and I feel like a mini or maxi series would help her character as she’d be the soul focus and not one character in the cast of ten.
Oh yeah, it's Lady Clay, aka the one that looks like naked lady with curves for days, but covered in a layer of mud, with angel wings. It's weird knowing that she has character development, yet not really. You say who wants to be Clayface monster, but hey, it's like Resident Evil villains , they want the power, in spite of being a giant goo monster with no more use of their junk.
I could not find Lois Lane marrying Clayface. BUT I found Clayface kidnapped Lois Lane twice. So I think Clayface wants Lois Lane for sure. 1. Basil Karlo in "The Batman - Superman Story Pt. 1" kidnaps Lois Lane while impersonating Clark Kent. 2. Matt Hagen lured Lois Lane to his hideout, hoping to get Superman and all with the ultimate goal of luring Batman into a trap. His plan almost succeeded, but the heroes outsmarted him and returned him to prison. To prevent further problems, Superman evaporated
Looker was a term for a hot lady. It fell out of use. The costume was a compilation of fashion trends due to being a model. Her evil version is Model Citizen.
Agreed, that costume is horrible. It's like the artist just took a bunch of different ideas and slapped them together. It reminds me of a video of Todd McFarlane and Rob Liefeld drawing a character together. What a mess.
@@matthewschwartz6607 I don't think she has been seen since N52. I can't recall if she knows Batman's real identity, but if I had to bet, I'd say she probably does. I can picture Bruce falling for her whole vampire thing and telling her in a retconned story we'll get at some point.

The last take on Lady Clay reminds me of a character I made who has similar struggle with identity because they have shape-shifting powers too. More specifically with their voice, which they've forgotten over time so they don't like to talk when out of disguise because they feel dissonance from having 'the wrong voice'.
I'm loving these looks at the various Clayfaces you've been doing, as Clayface was always a favorite Bat-villain of mine. Lady Clay is interesting for me, as I was never really able to find out much about her when I was younger and she was more prominent in the books - I mostly knew her from trading cards as "the one that hooked up with the other Clayface and had a Claybaby". Now that I know more about her, I do kind of like the angle they took in the Gotham Monsters with her... I think there is alot of story potential to be explored with her, and would like to see her get some more focus in future books.
Until you had mentioned her in this series, I had totally forgotten about her (and Clayface III, oincidentally). She does seem to have a lot of potential as a character, and I would be down for a series on her current adventures (mini or otherwise).
It’s interesting that they don’t seem to spend a lot of time showing what she looked like pre-clay powers since it’s more focused on her insecurities (which can develop no matter what someone looks like.)
If she had a origin story that just focused on her, it would have gone better. It looks like she just appears in team books as one more goon. Despite the attempt I don't think there was ever any real plan to make here equal to the other clayfaces. She is more of the "we need a team of bad guys. Who do we put on the team", type of situation I don't think the plan was to ever give her a good backstory and characterization.
As a concept, she has a lot of potential, particulary given how even her origin has a subservient streak to it that enhances the horror. I believe the right writer could make a very solid, very worthwhile Vertigo-like miniseries based on her struggle for self-acceptance and autonomy. But it could be difficult to use the character later; it might work best as an out-of-continuity tale.

Monster Squad Lady Clay's depiction feels a lot like the modern depiction of She-Hulk. Just very introspective of their own idea of what is perfect or acceptable of herself.
Can't say that I appreciate her. For some reason I always link Lady Clay and Element Girl / Woman. Part of the occasional "let's try these power sets out on a woman" that happened before Crisis.
Thinkin’ about how awesome it would be to have a Gotham-centric villain who not only shapeshifts but could mimic superpowers… Her power set needs some limits, but it’s not hard to fix; say she can only mimic things she’s actually seen and can only copy powers if she’s physically touched the person with her clay. Since most of the metahumans active in Gotham are villains, Lady Clay would mostly be mimicking *other villains* for any of her crimes. The MO might be very different, but people saw that villain on the scene and it was unquestionably that villain’s powers being used! Or imagine if she mimicked, like, Ivy or someone without copying their powers only to finally manage to get close enough to copy those too, throwing Bruce’s investigation into complete disarray? He’d need to locate the moment they made contact, recognize a smear of dirt that’s out of place with all of Ivy’s plants, something like that! Imagine the sorts of cons she’d pull to try to get close enough to heroes to copy them! Maybe give her a time limit of a couple weeks or months before she loses those powers, meaning she’s always on a deadline to get the power she needs for her latest job, or might resort to one that’s about to expire out of desperation. SHE HAS SO MUCH AWESOME VILLAIN POTENTIAL, WHY WOULDN’T THEY USE HER MORE?!?! Even if you want to focus on the tortured anti-hero (or anti-villain) side of her, rather than going full supervillain? Make her one of JASON’S villains! You could get so much mileage out of that; they have a lot in common (emotionally at least) and you cannot tell me Jason wouldn’t see a chance to save his father in a hench for hire driven to her absolute lowest and heading down a desperately self-destructive path. Conflict! Connection! Sondra accidentally getting too attached and letting Jason step into the hole her lost son left in her heart! The tragedy if Jason couldn’t save her from the villain life, or the bittersweet victory of him convincing her at the last minute when all Sondra can do is flee the villain’s lair & attempt to vanish into Gotham’s crowds! A sequel arc where she returns because she found out where her son was stolen away to and needs Jason’s help to rescue Cassius for whatever reason!
I think I will go down a rabbit hole, I like tje idea of her a lot. The who are you when you could be anyone. Hopefully one day, she'll get her story due!
Why is it when any real villainous villain that makes an appearance eventually becomes a tragic character due to some physical or mental trauma? No wonder Gotham City is overrun with criminals pleading that no one understands them.

I need to learn more about the looker now she sounds interesting
I think at one point she even became a vampire. So yeah, she seems interesting.
She definitely gives pre-Phoenix force Jean Grey vibes.
@@unigenius How so?

Had no idea that Metamorpho story in the Terrifics was lifted straight from this lol.
