I have had Mimeophon for a few months and you are still showing me great new ways to use it ! Your ideas in the last Make Noise Office Hours video were also very interesting :)
Wow, thanks for the compliment. I hope you're able to figure out what I did to make this patch work. It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. I also have to admit that when making a video I can cut the parts that don't sound right. The whole performance went South at the end :).
@@CinematicLaboratory thank you very much ; your videos are really helpful ! I try to recreate what you did. This is very inspirational ! I am also routing to different outputs and record everything into Ableton and will cut together the highlights and scrub the rest ;-) I hope to see more stuff from you! Again, thanks for doing this !
This is a Wonderful exploration almost sounds like abstracted electronic sketches of bassoon glockenspiel and bells. Inspiring me to explore a similar patch although I have pressure points not 0-ctrl.
I had a similar story with 0-ctrl except that it wasn't in a rack, but suddenly stopped reacting to touches. After disassembling, reassembling, contact cleaning etc I finally found that I grabbed a wrong power adapter with 12v while the native is 15.
Nice. Your videos show the evidence of a more experimental, more patient approach than a lot of modular content creators whose understanding of the modules seems skin-deep. A question about the patch - is everything running through additional reverb or is Mimeophon the only reverb source? I ordered Mimeophon recently and I'm hoping it can serve as delay and, in a pinch, a sort of reverb too.
Hi Ob Kling, Mimeophon has a built in Halo which blurs the delay line into a 'reverb-ish' sound and that's the reverb you're hearing. However, there's some modest 'glue' reverb on the master so it's not completely dry.
@@ObKling Let me just add that 'halo' sounds very close to a reverb so I think this is pretty much what you described as 'sort of reverb'. But I often use mimeophon after the reverb which sounds even cooler (a little reverb like FX-Aid can do wonders) because you can play with the reverb pitch and then delay it.
Cinematic Laboratory Yeah, I was thinking of trying that, since the only other effect I use at the moment is Pico DSP, which will take only mono in and outputs stereo. Or maybe run one voice through mimeophon and another through Pico. Otherwise, I route things through an Octatrack, using it for a mixer as well as for a bit of compression and reverb.
Excellent, adventurous patching - inspiring! Do you ever get “noise buildup” in Zone 0-1 of Mimeophon? Seems like whenever I turn the pot full CCW there’s a harsh spot there.
Happens to me and all of us :). I mentioned in the video that you'll need to turn down 'color' to avoid it and find a sweetspot. This is how I did this video too.
Great vídeo as always! I’d like to ask you something: i’m planning to rack my 0-coast and 0-crtl but still using their power adapters. Do you think it’s going to work ok? What you think is not working for you in your case? Power or shielding? Thanks.
Yes, I tried and it works fine when they're on their own power supply. I still have to figure out what the problem is. It can run fine for a day, but using the CV bus and other modules can 'disturb' the 0-ctrl. Then a sequence can get stuck at one position and the direction lights start to blink left/right as if it's constantly getting a trigger. Disabling the touch (third big button) lets the module work as expected. This does not happen when the module is on its own power supply. I have my 0-coast racked too, which always works fine as long as you have enough case power. Otherwise it will not initialize. The 'rule' to connect 0-ctrl with at least two patch cables is also to assure proper operation.
Thanks so much! I’m building a 84hp mini MakeNoise system and 0coast and 0ctrl are the center pieces, together with Qpas, Mimeophone, Morphagene, Mult, Pico Quant, Rosie and Mutable Ears. Powerful and cute! ;)
@@michaelmarsh4013 I am not sure, because touch pressure and gate work fine. Just did a 2nd video with no problem at all. It always happens when I use a gate to change direction - and then selecting a pad doesn't work anymore.

Glad to be of help! Looking forward to these office hours!
your videos are not only explorations , these are pieces of art... I have all three modules but do to come even close to your sound ..

Incredibly inventive as always

PressurePoints will definitely work too (or any sequencer like Rene), especially with Maths near, and maybe Brains. Thanks for the compliment!
this truly is a masterclass. MN should consult you

Great video with some interesting sounds and very cool of you to add all the explanations! (Even though I don't have the same gear) :-)

@@CinematicLaboratory Is it a grounding issue? I say that because the crash is related to touch?
