The reason for the non reduction in traffic on Vashi bridge is that, now lots of population stay in north western side of Mumbai. The south Mumbai population is shrinking.

Plenty of people from Mumbai commute to Navi Mumbai and back on a daily basis, and even more people travel in the opposite direction for work. The Atal Setu is not going to help them - it will just add more kms to their travel. I have driven once over it just to check it out, and nothing else.

The bridge should have been a double decker bridge having pedestrian walkway on the same height & a jogging track, grassy park seating area underneath the bridge. This is how one of the bridges in Seoul (South Korea) is also made. Really sad that they are only building a single road bridge. This is like 90s planning in 2024.
Even just a wide lane for bikes and pedestrians on either side would be enough, India is making the same mistakes that america made by only focusing on car infrastructure. Another great example was not building metro tracks on MTHL
So if you see currently there are 3 lanes each on running bridge. Additional 3 lanes are added on each side. Total 12 lanes, 6 on each side. On the extreme north there is old washi bridge. Next to it are the new three lanes for one side then currently running six lanes then again 3 new lanes and on extreme south side there is railway bridge.
I have used the Atal Setu twice and was quite disappointed. First, I had to overcome the Mumbai traffic congestion to reach it, secondly the cameras for scanning the fast tag were not working, the person at the toll booth was manually entering the car number plate into the computer for deducting the toll. It was being done very slowly causing building up of cars. The toll is steep ₹250/- and I didn’t even save any time due to wastage of time at the toll booth. Atal Setu is probably more useful for South Mumbai motorists. Thanks for the update on the progress of Vashi Bridge. I find that the toll booths are better managed at Vashi Bridge. The staff is pretty efficient, constantly communicating via walkie talkies and managing the traffic flow.
Make video on progress or plan for slums of mankhurd mandala , what will be the future of mandala mankhurd area building or anything else , what the slum people got? Ghar l badle ghar or ghar ki kimat or sra ya private cooperative housing society or cash... ? some people said that there will be an airport or power plant of adani , or may be tower or bridgea
There is a bottle neck on either side of the bridge, doubling the lanes isn't going to help the traffic issue unless they create a proper connected highway network, which hopefully will happen one day
But still commuters from Kalyan dombivali or from kausa mumbra traveling to mumbai has to go from turbhe and vashi city which jams the city then what is the use of such big flyover now that will create more havoc 😢 instead they should connect koperkherney to kannamar nagar
Congestion on Vashi Bridge is purely because of the Toll naka at the vashi end. Existing Vashi Bridge is more than enough to deal with the traffic, if the toll naka was removed there would not be any congestion at all, authorities do not want to give up the illegal but lucrative toll collection so they spend valuable tax payer money to waste thousands of crores to build another wider bridge so as to keep collecting toll and we as the only bakras in the situation praise their efforts
I disagree when you say vashi bridge has the most traffic. The traffic is because there is a toll the moment you cross the bridge. This is worst expense for a bridge since adding more lanes won't solve the problem. Either stop collecting tolls or find a better and faster way to collect it.
Government need to initiate Atal Setu completely toll free for specific time zones to see people use it and then only we can see drastic decrease in traffic using Vashi bridge...
MTHL is a flop project, i mean most of the commuters prefare Panvel-Vashi route rather than the Ulwe-Uran way, so the bridge would've been a success if it would've landed near Panvel City
MTHL ke baad mainland mein kuch khaas nahi hai, except for the upcoming Navi Mumbai Airport. Yeh Third Mumbai, kaise higa akhir mein kisko nahi pata...

Atal setu is also being used by 40 thousand people daily, if it gets connected to mumbai pune express way it will also be full of traffic
@Akarsh2008 Traffic will also increase when the new airport becomes operational.
Atal setu will be beneficial when connectivity after chirle into new mumbai will be made proper.

This bridge is also 25 years old so anway we needed new bridge plus the traffic is going to increase after navi mumbai airport construction
Remove the toll plaza and install auto sensor similar to MTHL bridge.. Problem will be resolved to an extent.
