Shipwreck Dive in Utila and Roatan, Honduras 2024

- Utila and Roatan are Bay Islands of Honduras, in the Caribbean, north of the mainland. They’re known for coral reefs and many dive sites. I spent a week in Utila doing my advanced diving course and 3 days on the resort island Roatan. I ended catching a ride on a small aircraft with my mate Andrew between the islands. I was supposed to catch a ferry but when the opportunity arrives grab it by the balls and fly in this tin can of a machine. There’s a great shipwreck dive in there as well.

I have a trip booked next month. Currently, I booked all my dives on Utila. Would it be worth doing a few dives on Roatan? From your experience was one a lot better than the other or were they close enough that it's not worth stressing over?

So for diving I preferred Roatan, they take care of the reef a lot better. The shipwreck dive was in Utila though. Utila’s vibe is a lot better if youre looking for a party where as Roatan is like a resort island so more relaxing. Both are incredible for diving either way!
@@Dantrippin Good to know! I’m gunna do my advanced in Utila, but I have some spare time for fun dives so I could certainly change some things around to get a few dives in Roatan. The downside being that I’m a little more on the move and less with a home base. I figured the potential for whale sharks might have tipped the scales to just let it be on Utila but maybe it’s worth squeezing in even just a day on Roatan now.. haha.
Nice man that’s what I did too! Depends on your budget too bro it’s defs more bang for you buck on Utila. I did a week on Utila then only 2 nights on Roatan for that reason but was enough to do a bunch of dives. I recommend paradise divers for Utila and octopus dive school on Roatan. Enjoy!
