Not good. No Windows 98 drivers. ;)
🤦♂
Does sound work under DOS ?
Your question gave me a headache while considering your question. Well done :P
Probably also UEFI only and 64bit UEFI only (no support for 32bit UEFI), so Windows 7 64bit - probably absolute minimal intallable Windows version.
Thanks for the video Phil.
Those mini PCs are really great, powerful w/o taking half of your desk.
The only drawback (of the model I use, at least) is that under heavy load the fan starts being very noisy.
This one isn't too bad, even when rendering 4K videos.
Thanks for the video Phil ,have the. Same model myself an awesome little unit.
Really hard sell at $850 US, as appealing as the tiny PC thing is any of these APU's is grossly outperformed by even the most basic discrete GPU's, and moving to something like a micro-ATX form factor desktop or the various ITX builds that support full size GPU's will give you orders of magnitude more performance for the money while still being "living room friendly" while having the chops to do justice to that 4k display it's connected to.
If you want a really good small form factor emulation machine the various Lenovo/HP mini/micro desktop PC's based on the Ryzen 2400g with Vega 11 graphics are around $100-$125 are still my go-to, the modern examples don't necessarily pack that much more graphical horsepower in, usually going to fewer but faster graphic compute units and more CPU cores. It's not going to outperform one of these, but it's going to cover a LOT of the same use cases if you're looking to do emulation vs full blood PC gaming.
I really don't like how AMD have segmented their 12 CU APUs behind the Ryzen 7 and 9 models. Egregious upselling.
Remember this one has the bleeding edge CPU and so there is a premium. You can get previous generation for much less. I also like cheap OEM machines, they are great fun especially if you can live with something bigger. These Mini PCs are awesome for travelling, I've been on the go recently and with a USB 4 capture card and scaler, I can do work anywhere.
its on par with the 1650 , 850 a bit pricy yes, but thas a prebuilt for you it will go on sale
Consider me intrigued, thanks Phil!
Wow that"s what I call impressive performance, especially for the size 😎.
Thank you for the video demonstration, Phill 😉👍!
The configuration is powerful, the operation is smooth, I love it.
I got my 680m mini pc for around $450 as a barebones option and I think at that price it was very worth it since I don't play enough heavy games for it to be a problem. I bought the ram and had a leftover NVME so it worked out perfectly. I love these things and am never going back to a full sized PC again!
Huge fan of the Geekom and I'm ready to buy one for my dad as a gift!🎁
These nice small boxes seems to be great alternative to the much more expensive gaming laptops. Especially that going for holiday you need to anyway carry your boring business laptop, and this small box you can drop directly to your suitcase and later connect to any hotel room TV.
I've been using the GEEKOM A7 for a few weeks now and I have to say, it’s exceeded all my expectations. The build quality and performance are top-notch, making it a reliable choice for both work and entertainment. Thanks for highlighting its features in your video; it’s great seeing content creators bringing attention to such deserving products. 👍
Every time GEEKOM launches a new product, it is so amazing, and the GEEKOM A7 is also a surprise!
Thank you for making a video with actual benchmark numbers as well as showing off real world game play.
The amount of power in mini PCs in incredible, I love their size and even use one for my home server. But for gaming they are fine with older games, but can struggle with the latest releases. Hopefully Intel keeping working on Arc and get into a race with AMD creating faster and more energy efficient iGPUs. I wouldn't be surprised to have mini PCs match a base PS5 or XSX by the time the next generation of consoles are released.
8:02 You didn't have to call me out like that.
You and me both 😂
geekom is really nice this time,I like it and the performance is good too😍
I am currently using the GEEKOM A7 Mini PC and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with the quality. The performance, materials used, and overall value for money are all top-notch. Additionally, GEEKOM's excellent after-sales service and fast shipping have made the whole experience even better. GEEKOM has truly established itself as a reliable brand in the Mini PC market, and I would definitely consider purchasing from them again in the future.
So small and exquisite! It hit me on my aesthetic view
Nice! My current laptop has the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U with the same Radeon 780M Graphics, runs pretty nice! 😉
That's pretty much the same thing, slightly lower max boost clocks that is all.
I love GEEKOM A7 and want to buy one next month
Geekom's mini pcs keep getting smaller and smaller, but their features are getting crazier and more powerful! It's seriously mind-blowing! What an impressive company!
The GEEKOM A7 is a great performer, I'm using it for office and gaming right now!
love the GEEKOM products!
Does it run Crysis??! Yes, it can...05:38...Great video Phil...
I managed to get an a!=-7850k with 2x4gb DDR3 1600Mhz.
Gonna make a computer for retro/weak gaming with it :)
The only gripe I have is that the platform seems somewhat more obtuse compared to the Ryzen generations that came later. I still gotta figure out what's going on with some stuff.
This little guy is so cool, I think he has a very nice shape, if I haven't bought a work computer yet, I think I will definitely try him...
I think of my old Brix A8-5557M when looking at these tiny PCs. I love them, but you have to be super careful if you want a machine that’ll last… mine fell over the moment Proton got big.
It’s a good Retropie PC for PSX/N64 and older! Not quite done yet :)
A7 is my current favortie!
Would be nice to see running Linux on that machine and the gaming performance it has under it.
The performance is about the same, a few frames less but a bit more stable in the 1% low - or at least that seems to be the average result with Ryzen APU based Mini PCs running under Linux gaming distributions like Garuda or ChimeraOS . Just don't try Intel - those work, but still fall short too far. And if you want even more graphics performance, try finding a version with dedicated GPU such as the "Minis Forum HX80G" or "... HX99G".
I picked up a variant, the minisforum with the occulink interface. Amazing box. You mentioned pcem. Have you set up a pcem and if so, how far did you get processor wise, that is a p133 or p266, etc. Would you do a video detailing setup of a pcem with this box? Thanks for all your great work. The vid I saw on setting up pcem was excellent. 👍
Yes I've done videos on PCem and 86Box. PCem runs better and you can definitely emulate a basic Pentium II with around 300 to 400 MHz
Have you run pcem on this particular computer? @@philscomputerlab
Nice. These started about two years ago, and by now, many mini PCs are quite interesting an offering. There even are variants with a dedicated Radeon RX 6600M-6650M 8GB, which offer high-end 1080p performance ( 50% to 250% more performance compared to an mobile/integrated APU ).
But have you already tested the other side of the equation: The Mini Vintage PCs. "iCOP" offers things like the "DMP EBOX-3350EX Vortex86EX" or "EBOX-3350DX3-RCA", which are Vortex86 based 80486 to 80586 compact PCs with BIOS support for different performance levels. Unlike the TinyLlama, getting sound to work under DOS is a bit of a challenge though ... .
I haven't looked into those yet!
This MiniPC being quieter than the others is what makes me more confident, that with a Better Performance it can be not loud, and making them more possible to use them for the night sessions as well.
And If I had one than I'd more than happy to Try out running Grand Theft Auto V on it. 😁
These mini pc's are getting quite impressive. I'm hopeful someday one that could run the ps3 emulator without any problems could be a thing.
I'd love to gst one someday and set it up to emulate emulate 1-7th console generations with usb adaptors to use original controllers
That chip is already capable of it if I believe some claims made by Ayaneo (or was is GPD) about running PS3 emulation at full speed on their handheld console/PC that uses the same APU.
I have a Minisforum UM780 and it can run PS3 games just fine.
Use a bliss-box or gamer pro for your controller needs.
A7 looks really great
Thanks for some old games fps review
This is exactly the mini PC product I like. I can't wait to receive it and replace it with my old partner. I look forward to the experience it will bring me
Nice video! Is there a vendor that already sells Mini-PCs with 7000-series AMD mobile GPUs? (RX 7800M/7900M)
This form-factor would be a perfect fit for a living-room gaming “console“, and would replace my clunky desktop.
Dedicated graphics in Mini PC is a challenge because of the heat and noise...
The temps are way to high for cpu and gpu, i think its the fan speeds that need to be more aggressive with there bios fan profile and maybe better cooling or lock it down to 35 watts tops
It's unbelievable how many games can be played on such a small computer. how did GEEKOM put such a powerful video card into this small box?😱😱
Me Pueden Mandar la Información en Español pi favor.
mini pc is crazy👍
good gaming performance, impressive
this mini PC looks good
I just found out that Win98 got Directx 9.0c. Was there any reason why so many games required WinXp? I know Win98 missed out on PCIe and such, but I just thought it was weird that a lot of system requirements say XP.
XP is native windows and quite different whereas 98 runs on DOS.
It's also a matter of what hardware people were running at the time. DirectX 9.0c was the thing for a long time, DirectX 10 didn't come out until 2006 with Vista. Even after Vista, many games still had a DirectX 9.0c mode as well and continued to work on XP.
The latest cards that Win98 supported could run 9.0c, but not very well. You weren't going to be playing a game that was released in 2007 on a Win98 machine.
From my country, I would have to import it at R19500 bucks on my currency. A locally available PS5 is about on average R14000 and an Xbox X is on average about R15000 here for the high end models.
Yeah, the price is a bit too much for me... But the good news is that lower-tier models are getting very affordable. If youre not a gamer, some previous gen. middle range model will do just fine for almost anything.
awseome
8/16? ig taking off smt should improve game performance.
It's disappointing that the A7 doesn't come with 2 NVME slots like a lot of its competitors and only does 8K resolution at 30Hz.
In light of what happened with some prebult minipc (Acemagic) that had preinstalled malware dunno if I would trust using stuff like this.
Wonder if this Geekom was shipped with w11 preinstalled.
Yes 11 preinstalled but you can just reinstall 11 yourself, easy.
@@philscomputerlab
Did you need any driver from the vendor website?
@@federicocatelli8785 For this one I used an older USB wifi first to get online, then windows updates, then snappy driver installer origin, then AMD chipset and graphics. All clean 🙂
🎉🎉🎉good
A good device, but at this price I would always prefer a Mac Mini. The upcoming M3 model in particular will be even faster than this device and have a comparable price. Ok, the Mac Mini will have less RAM and SSD, but in practice it will still be better, of higher quality and much quieter.
This CPU is a little bit faster than my 5800x, but it fits in a tiny PC whereas my 5800x is on a 240mm radiator lol.
45W!
I'm still trying to find the pattern when Phil's videos start with "Hey gois" and when they don't. This one sadly didn't.
Hey guys😊 just for you ☺️
@@philscomputerlabDanke, ich meinte aber "Hey guys" nicht "hey good"
i thought this channel is just about retrogaming
Hi
$1500???
HOLY SNAPPING DUCK SHIT
I'll take one without an SSD or RAM please
You could build a mid-range gaming PC for that.
cuz it is "mini"
Think it's Australian dollars
For reference 1 AUSD is about 0,61 euro or 0,66 USD or 0,52 pound

You pay for form factor....in my country the one with ryzen 9 ,32 GB RAM and 2tb SSD goes for 889 Eur

@@philscomputerlab thanks, Phil!
These mini PCs are so ugly. They all look like a brick. Cannot they make something more visually appealing?
The best graphics you've tested? That tells me you haven't tested ANY dedicated graphics cards.
listen to his words again. You got triggered over nothing
In a Mini PC of course, come on, a bit of common sense...
For a sff prebuilt ... thought it was obvious🤦
ok yeah but that's literally what the video title says; you didn't specify that... but I guess it's implied, duh.@@philscomputerlab
It literally says Mini PC in the title 😅 @@SeeJayPlayGames
Yeah is great but what if I want something that also has a dedicated GPU, preferably AMD also? What mini PC should I get? I am not much into towers since I want something portable.
