I absolutely love the chemistry between SQ and HX. Both of their characters are very different and unique from the rest of the C-drama world. GBZ was the tragic hero who had a very sad past and was hell bent on revenge. WSY was a noble lady from the prestigious Wu family, but choose to break through gender barriers to be a female "warrior." I was so impressed by the acting of HX and SQ that made me so invested into their CP story line. I was and still heartbroken from their tragic ending. GBZ and WSY are two very well-written characters, with very different social statuses and family background who should not have crossed paths romantically. But it was because of their intrinsic kindness and shared beliefs for peace and justice that made them open up their hearts to each other slowly. I was very touched by their love story. Their love was very selfless. Their CP scenes were never overdone and 'fake.' They are subtle, mature, and have barely any skinship but I felt their sizzling chemistry through the screen, especially the scenes when they threaten each other with a knife. lols. I guess it is a taste thing, I prefer the slow burn love that gradually grows into deep love through trials and tribulations. I felt that the main leads' love story is NECCESSARY. It is because of their love that changed the course of the male lead's GBZ's life. He was a lone warrior at the beginning of the series, who vowed to die after getting his revenge. It was after meeting WSY, that changed the lives of GBZ and may I say Er Lang as well. Without WSY, GBZ and EL would have fall into the depths of revenge for their loved ones and would not have put Luoyang's peace as their top priority or become their better selves. Disregarding her death scene, WSY is a very well-written character. She's heroic. righteous and impartial to all people of different social statuses. She values love a lot. She loves GBZ, her friends, her brother, and the city of Luoyang. Her death was meaningful, as it stayed true to her character, someone who values love so much, would no doubt save her brother, no matter if he is evil or not. HOWEVER, I agree that the scriptwriters were sick in the heads, when they utilized Liu Feng's character to kill WSY. It is stupid but at the same time, I felt that the scriptwriters were trying to depict karma/retribution, as WSY's death would be the greatest punishment for WYJ, the one person he treasures the most. Because his character never cared about other peoples' lives including himself. His character is a complete contrast from his younger sister, WSY, who valued every lives. I think the storyline of the main CP is actually quite well-portrayed but I absolutely hate that they cut out their kiss scene!!!
Like their love story. Regretfully the ending isnt good enough. Esp she is killed by Liu's brother. Her best friend's brother. Even same like Hongyi - Liu's love scene, there is no "I love you" statement nor even "I like you" statement, yet still there is "love in the air" on the screen.
My TOP FAVORITE CP of C-DRAMA in 2021. I love my white moonlight Wu Siyue and our heroic Gao Bingzhu

I watched this and on VIP at IQIYI bcoz of Wang Yibo. Done watching until final ep💚😁. Looking forward for another drama of WY💚
