Too bad band assistance or "launching" from the bottom takes a lot of stress off the hamstring. IMO leg curls are better unless you're light enough/strong enough to do them to full knee extension
The band doesn’t necessarily slow your decent or speed up your contraction. You need to choose the correct resistance just like an assisted pull up. The band allows control so as not to strain the hamstring by sudden loading. Good for beginners or rehab
