imo those spl atk specs make a huge difference now i tried both and you need to stack or lapras feels so underwhelming.
Yep. Can confirm at least 4-5 stack on Spl atk specs makes Lapras as good as Slowbro/Crustle. But it’s still not as good as Umbreon or Blastoise. If you don’t get those stacks in though, you’re in for a rough time
Lapras is my most played defenders. It’s still good, but I don’t feel like I can win against that spinning turtle. I also feel like water pulse can do a bit more damage than surf/pump, but the CCs are….

I love lapras, one of my favorite defenders but the way I’m seeing people and defender mains talk about how the playstyle has changed almost makes it feel like her playstyle has devolved more so to the all rounder class than a traditional defender. I don’t mind it one bit, but I do agree that the lapras nerfs were a bit harsh. I don’t mind the damage nerfs she got, but at this point give her back some healing and buff her passive if we want her to be a TANK tank. I definitely wanna play carry Lapras next season at least to try and fill for team comps
I play Lapras with Guard, Slick Spoon, and Focus and its damage feels pathetic. Also somehow I feel like I'm less survivable than you despite running a second defensive item, maybe because I don't do enough damage to force disengages or get kills, not sure. I think skill is definitely a big factor, I just ain't got the Cris skills. The specs probably help a ton with not hitting like a wet noodle, but I suck at stacking.
Cris I agree with you I think lapras is very good in soloQ but in 5 stacks it’s not that good compared to umbreon and trevenant but I think lapras could use some buffs
To be fair tons of the highest win rate mons struggle in 5 stacks and competitive. You don't see a lot of Tyranitar, Dragapult, Mime, or Garchomp.
@@eeags Tyranitar is not a high winrate mon. It's high winrate because of its incredibly low pick rate, one of the lowest in the game rn. So basically, the few times Ttar DOES get picked, it's often by someone who's very good at it.
@@hillhank3070 I've been spamming Tyranitar the past four days. Before that, I've only had 50 games with Tyranitar, according to my api. My win rate this week over 25 games is 64%. Small sample, I totally understand. I'm normally a mage attacker, sometimes a supporting attacker, and I play Absol near gold badge level and dabble on other speedsters. By no means am I this all arounder junkie who is this seasoned pro. My win rate proves that Tyranitar is perfectly fine in this meta, and even if it's pick rate increased much more, it's win rate would still most likely be above 50.
Perish song Is bad, but I don't like the idea of lapras coming back, it's fine where it's at.

I think having the clefable helped you a lot here. But yea this is the best build. Still think Blastoise is the best soloq defender

Yeah i think lapras is good but it also helps when you have and elde and clefable on your team. They did like no damage so it also inflates your damage as well. Again not saying it us bad just saying more damage from your team cuts your damage by alot.
You're right, a good elde performance shown by the assist count, not the usual 3 stats
The fact that people think that if a pokemon gets nerfed its the worst one in that role category or worsse than other pokemon but infact lapras might be the best defender as it has some really cool moves that it can pull of that not many pokemon can. ❤

Ngl if we get more Paldea mons in the future after Ceruledge and Miraidon, I hope we get Armorouge, Koraidon, Lokix, Ogrepon, Terapagos, Grafaiai, Pawmot, and Scream Tail are some of the ones I'd want.
Lapras is my like second go to Pokemon (Sableye being one) and she is so underrated. All her moves are very solid and her ult is great in a lot of scenarios.
Good damage (stacking is very recommend), walking wall and fast unite recharge. One of the perfect pokemon for soloq since it's also very easy to use.

It certainly is not the busted pick as a defender anymore... but is still viable in soloQ. Might try Lapras again eventually.
I would rather prefer lapras damage to be traded for it’s bulk.
People always sleep on Lapras but she is still great to use and I love that. She is my main defender of choice along with Blastoise.
I personally love a more tanky Lapras + XP share but damage is still good on it

Me neither, but someone suggested me to change my focus band for slick spoon, and I feel less useless for my team. Still feel it was a waist. I should have bought something better.

My favorite lately has been mimikyu definitely my best purchase in a while 100% recommend. Takes a little skill but once you get the hang of it my god the highlights you can pull off are ridiculous.

Does this game even actually have a playerbase? Im so tired of what are clearly bot games in both unranked and ranked and I have barely lost overall and havent lost once in ranked yet but nearly every game is bots and I look it up to find out the damn game is doing it not people farming accounts, wtf is this it doesnt belong in this kind of game, especially not in ranked. I just wanna play games with real people no matter how good or bad they are not stupid mindless bots

I mean obviously you’re good, but I never get the type of games you seem to get when you play lapras, like the other team is coordinated and anti stacking me, and I don’t get lane ganked and lapras because almost useless when you don’t get any kind of level lead

You are just very good on lapras
