I think he wears a shirt that covers his arms, which makes them seem yellow, but his hands and arms are black, probably

Hello My friend! There is many techniques to achieve the same effect. I would recommend to use an exposure layswr together with a layer mask. Invert the mask so it’s completely black then “paint” in the shadow again. Another technique is to use a new layer, choose black color and make the layer on “overlay or Normal” then paint the shadow wherever you like! Good luck!
