Tribute to Three

June 7th was my birthday and I want to thank God Almighty for being so good to me all of my life! He has given me more than I can ever thank Him for! Lately the color purple has been on my mind. It was the color of the robe Jesus Christ wore before being crucified. It was Prince's favorite color and his birthday is June 7th as well. It also reminds me that Prince was an African American man from Minneapolis where George Floyd's murder by four Minneapolis policemen sparked worldwide protests the likes no-one has ever seen. It also reminds me that a young man in Omaha, James Scurlock lost his life during one of the multiple protests there sparked by George Floyd's murder. On this day June 9, 2020 as Mr. Floyd is laid to his final rest in Houston, Texas I think of the color purple which to me will always connect these three African American men together. The color purple is powerful indeed.
