I love the progression of your skillset over more than a decade. You've definitely put in the time, money, and work and it shows. Don't let the "internet experts" negative comments get to you. Most are just bitter people that lack either the resources (time, space, finances), or an internal drive and talent to actually get things done. Most detractors have none of the above. Learn from the ones offering constructive advice, dump the rest. Good job.

You've got different chisels for different applications. You should also have different hammers. You will be surprised on the ease of cutting different ways.
best part of the vid was the music - When I heard Mr. Bungle the deal was sealed. This guy and a badass stone worker AND his choice in music was great. ST in there... Beastie boys, bungle. Nice man!
marsh pipe OK can you post a video showing how you make a corner stone? That was the probably the second I've made. And it is 12" thick granite. As I've said in other replies this is just a hobby of mine and I'm always looking for a better way.
Thanks I'm a stone Mason here in northern ireland when I'm of duty from the fire service I'm looking new hand tools as their a business here in northern ireland selling them but they dont do it any more so I'll have a look at web site tonight and hopefully they will be able to send me what I want thanks for your help thank care.👍👍
@@gerardanderson1967 That place is in the US, so shipping might be a deal breaker (I'm in Canada FWIW). I have used www.stonetoolshop.co.uk/ for Lewis Pins (no one makes them in North America), they seem to carry a good selection of chisels and hammers too. I'd look there to start. When I ordered the Lewis Pins I had them 3 days later all the way to Canada, so I'd think you would get pretty fast shipping there too.
Cut the man some slack. Anybody that cuts stone knows its unpredictable and unforgivable. For someone tht does it as a hobby and does this well has a litt more experience than wht this video shows.
Dear Greg, I was wondering what is the brand name of the saw?. I know that I am way to late to watch your video, but it was exactly what i was searching for as i am planning to construct a stone made house and all what I have around me is Granite stone.. It would be a great help. Thank you.
+Limitless one 2 It is a Stihl saw, like this one www.stihl.com/STIHL-power-tools-A-great-range/Cut-off-machines-and-concrete-cutters/Cut-off-machines/21368-510/TS-420.aspx , you might want to take a look at my videos for my diamond wire saw. I have ideas about how to build a much smaller one, contact me if that is something you are interested in.

Seems like the pitch of your chisel is a little steep, try bringing it a little more vertical to get a flatter face on your stone (i know granite is a bit of a bitch, building a fireplace right now out of muskoka hue)
Thanks Liam. I will try that. In this case I was going for the exaggerated rock face look, so it worked out. Where are you getting your Muskoka stone from? I'm looking for a supplier for a project. Thanks.
Not exactly sure, i ask my boss tomorrow for you. So you just do this as a hobby? Quite the badass hobby IMO. I've been apprenticing for the past 3 years under one of the best local masons around southern Ontario. If you want to check out some of our work our website is rankinbrothers.ca
Gotta use feathers & wedges you won't have saw so much or flip the slab plus you won't have a dawn surface to try and rock pitch away the drill marks disappear with only about a 1" rock pitch, a corner like that can be made in about 30 mins start to finish
I've used both (this is a video I made splitting with the feather and wedge ruclips.net/video/Uxm1VCzVswQ/видео.html ), I prefer the saw to the feather and wedge. The problem with feather and wedge is if you want a smooth side (which I do for the interior side), there is a lot more work. I have a diamond wire saw now so I don't have to flip. ruclips.net/video/QqSRKZF6k28/видео.html
why flip it ....just cut the edge downto the bottom....both sides and it shoul split fine with wedges........i found watching that tyre mound go ker-splat.... just felt like a co-worker too much.........im still in shock.
+Scott Awaywithit I flipped it because I was trying to get an accurate split. I've got a diamond wire saw now, so I wont have to do any more splitting. You can see it here in this video: ruclips.net/video/QqSRKZF6k28/видео.html
Got to hand it to you Greg...if there is a hard way to work stone then you will surely find it,this was painful to watch, for an old stonecarver like me.Trial and error is no way to prosper believe me,but 100% for effort to you mate.

Good job man, nevermind the flak.
What was the attachment you have to hold the chisel in place on the T&H pneumatic?
jkotar20, it's called a chisel retainer. T&H sells them. Here is there video for it : Trow and Holden Chisel Retainer
Took a week long course, that's it. I do it just as a hobby.
Where can you take those courses sir?? I'm interested

@@GregsStoneYard the wire saw cutting right through creates a different problem - how to texture the whole face.

+marsh pipe painful it was.....high injury rate aside.
now make a real quoin.....and vermiculate it.
+Scott Awaywithit Not sure what you mean by "real quoin", I don't want the vermiculated look.
