I just rode an old 26” hardtail yesterday on a mix of road, gravel and some light trails. Blown away by how fast it felt after riding a full suspension bike all year. And wow, I looked up the BB height on that Polygon and it is indeed very low. I feel like my Rift Zone has more pedal strikes than I’d like and it’s BB is 18mm higher. Some 170mm cranks would help and maybe adding a little more air to the shock. The latter is at least free and easy to try.
I hadn't ridden a hardtail until I got the Rockhopper and it took me back toy beginning days on a mountain bike. I've messed around with the shock and fork but still no luck. I think a longer travel fork and shorter cranks would improve the bike. I'm looking to move on from the bike though.
Just bought a rockhopper comp same color as yours bought a dropper and installed that about a month ago and just today bought a rockshox judy silver tk fork 27.5 love the bike
@@Marrk001 this purchase fell through 👎 Evans Cycles cancelled my order 2 months after it was supposed to arrive. I am now waiting on a Roscoe 7 from Trek
@@BlackFlag94 thanks for response. I was thinking the same. In my country elite 29er is around $1200 and roscoe 7 $1500. For 1500 check out Specialized Fuse 27.5. I think that is better than roscoe 7. Anyways if i cant buy elite, i'm going with trek marlin 7 bcz i don't really like roscoe 6. Few days ago i've found canyon stoic 3. For around $1200 you get 140mm rockshox air fork and rest of the components from sram. Check it out
Funny, i would have thought u keep one of your dual suspension. In my case i only have one, my fully upgraded Nishiki colorado 29er. Love it. Am thinking of getting an entry level dual suspension, any suggestions?
What do you think of Gravel road bikes. I thought you had one from Bikes Direct? I have a hard tail 29er but it has 21 sp - I wonder if moving to a single ring would be better.
@@OLKIEMTB there's a bit of everything within riding distance, not much bike commuting down here though. I do agree that, as a do-everything bike, a hardtail is the better option🤘🏻
Yes, I did sell my X3 only because I wanted to ride road more. I would still recommend it as a new gravel bike but if you can find a nice second hand bike for the price you might want to go with the second hand bike.
One of my first RUclips videos was on the diamondback recoil. It's not a great video because I was pretty new to mountain biking. I do not have a recoil anymore.
Do you think your pedal striking on the polygon could be due to too much sag? I have the same bike and run it at 25% sag, I rarely pedal strike, only happens when I don’t have my feet level when I should
OLKIE I have the same as you, although when I ordered mine they were on back order and I think they ran out of the x-fusion shock because of the virus, so I got an upgrade to a RockShox deluxe select + I don’t know if that makes the difference or not
When I first got the bike it was so bad but I think it was because I was use to my other bike which has a higher BB and shorter cranks. I've had to adjust my pedaling and line choices however I still have issues getting up technical rocky or rooty climbs. The same climbs I can pass on my other bike.
The Comp is what people seem to gravitate to. The elite gets you an air-fork but for an entry level bike and skills to match, the Comp at $750 is solid.
@@aidenwisler9201 For what it's worth, I'm new to trail riding but have 15+ years experience on bicycles. It's amazing how far a 29" wheel will get you even on a hardtail (compared to 26" wheels that were the norm years ago.)
I recently bought a rockhopper expert for an all rounder. It’s an awesome bike.
Totally agree. The hard tail is the SUV of bikes; doesn’t excel at anything, but does a lot of things well.

I have a northrock xc27 and I just bought a specialized Rockhopper 29. The northrock xc27 was the best (box bike) I could find during the pandemic.
Definitely a hardtail. Incidentally, I have a rockhopper too, it's a sweet ride.

Nice! I'm going to be upgrading a lot of the components in the coming weeks.
Which do you recommend between the Rockhopper Comp and the Trek Marlin 7?
I 100% agree, its a do it all bike.
The one bike I chose (arriving next month) is a Specialised Rockhopper Elite 29er. Should be good enough for some trails and jumping.
Which size did you buy?

Es justo lo que pensaba sobre que bicicleta quedarme para usar diario.

The polygon Siskiu is one to look at and Marin rift zone or hawk hill.

Only having one bike may be cool and all but N+1 is more fun and more financially painful
All things considered I'd keep my FS bike. I mostly do trail riding, with some road to get from trail to trail.
If I lived in an area with tons of amazing trails I would keep my Full suspension too. But since I don't, a hardtail would be my best option.

An eye opener. Thank you
What size Is your specializied rockhopper?
Large
Hardtail all the way just more fun
Did you sell your gravel x3? Do you recommend getting a second hand bike with a lighter frame over purchasing a new X3 from bikesdirect?

@@OLKIEMTB was the X3 just not good on the road? I kinda want to get it as an all rounder to supplement my hard tail.
It was just a little to heavy for my liking. I started getting into triathlons and I wanted a more appropriate bike.
Can you make a video on the diamondback recoil 27.5 the reason is I bought one

you need a gravel bike. those trails are so flat.
Bro i was searching for a gravel bike for myself. Any suggestions ?
The only gravel bike I have experience with is the motobecane gravel X3. It is great for the price but I started to ride more road so I got rid of it.

Plz help in deciding
What specialized rockhopper is that one? There are like 5 options and I don’t know which one I should get.

My first hardtail was a 29er and then I switched to a 27.5. The 29er was noticeably better at maintaining momentum.
I just did my 200 km ride for the first time. In this journey i thought of getting a road bike or gravel bike
