I was forced by my narcissistic ex to abort my precious angel boy and after taking the pills and bleeding for a couple of hours I dropped to the floor and begged Abba for my beautiful child. I prayed this prayer during a relationship with a girl. I felt anxiety throughout the relationship and kept playing this song every night. 2 weeks later the girl ended the relationship, leaving me broken and confused. I then ran to drugs, pornography, and success to fill the void. None of it worked and then quarantine hit. And when quarantine hit it helped realize that I was building my life on falling sand, so I finally gave my life to God. Fast forward to now, I can listen to this song and look back on that time when I was praying for God to put me in the fire, GOD IS SO GOOD. I'm praying the same prayer now but this time I'm living for God and wanting Him to use me to impact people for His kingdom.

In my interpretation they are asking God to refine them (thus the title) and make them beautiful, lovely, righteous and holy. Great question! Personally as a worship leader I love the opportunity to THINK about the lyrics we sing. Sometimes we assume others understand what we are singing or sometimes we just haven’t even considered what we are singing ourselves. It’s just pretty and catchy but it must be more. We need to sing with understanding.

Where I am right now anything to get me closer and living in his presence is all I need. He is strength and I want to be branded, purified, holy enough for my God because its all about him. I see the admost beauty in this song and if we all could completely surrender and have him purified the world would be not in such a mess as it is now.
i was broken hurt and bruised. a boy with a broken identity, who believed he was born homosexual. the deeper the lust and the sexual encounters, the emptier i felt. Emptier and emptier. i had no joy nor peace in my life, i had a distorted view of what love is, and yet it did not satisfy me, deep down i knew that my lifestyle was wrong, but i was bound by chains and fetters, i started drinking, i started cutting myself to feel. my sexual encounters became more and more sick, and one evening, when i went with someone i never met and never knew, i hit rock bottom, i was so broken, i was so overwhelmed by the weight of my sinful life. i was sinking deep in sin, i was far from the Peaceful shore, but the Master of the Sea came and lifted me out of the pit of destruction. Jesus Christ was with me when i did the filthiest things, He was calling me back to Father everyday. One evening, the weight of my sin was so strong and weighed me down like a 1000 tons of cement, the Holy Spirit convicted me of the life i was living, homosexuality, alcoholism, lust, self-mutilation, self-centeredness, pride, lying... as I was feeling all of this, the Father manifested His LOVE, GRACE & MERCY to me through Jesus Christ. I never felt such love - He moved with such authority yet with such LOVE and COMPASSION. I knew that there is a GOD. Now saved am i, cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ, i am dead to my sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus. Now my life is a declaration to the Messiah, HE is The Way, The Truth & The Life. I have tasted and seen that the Lord is good! Washed and cleansed by the precious Blood of my Jesus Christ! HALLELUJAH!!!!!

I think I am in a purifying season and it has been the most painful of my life, the most full of tears and confusion and brokenness, but the also the most rewarding and sweet and intimate with Him. the refining is tough.... but I am convinced that it is well worth it. bless you, friends

I have been praying for months for my family to turn back to Jesus. I saw my sister recently and she started playing this song...I stopped talking cause I recognized the song and I said "wait is this Maverick City?" And she said "yeah! i found this song from TikTok". I felt the Holy Spirit in my heart and I realized God was showing me He wasn't done with my family yet, He was listening to my prayers. Y'all if you knew my sister's music taste, you would know!! To hear worship music playing in my family's house for the first time in over ten years nearly made me burst into tears. I recently gave her a Bible and she told me she wants to read it. I'm secretly hoping that one way she'll call me and say "hey I love Jesus!!", but if it doesn't happen that way, I will still praise my God ❤❤❤ I am amazed how He moves and how He is using TikTok of all things to make His name glorified!!
