About the Sagami Kokufu Festival The Kokufu Festival is a festival that brings together six Sagami shrines and is designated as an intangible folk cultural asset of Kanagawa Prefecture.
It is said to have begun over 1,000 years ago, when the system of provinces and counties was established in the regions, and the administrative head of Sagami Province, the kokushi, prayed to the gods for peace throughout the country and bountiful harvests.
On Kamisoroyama, a debate is held, a Shinto ritual that ritualizes the debate that took place at the time of the establishment of Sagami Province, and at Oyaba (now Baba Park), a national priest and three types of dances are offered.
