My popo dealer sold me a Warn pro Vantage plow system, thank god they didnt sell me this Glacier thing because i didn't know anything about the plows. This will be my 6th winter plowing with it and knock on wood nothing has broke on the actual plow. But i have broke my winch cable probably over 20 times so I did change to synthetic rope at the last of the season and I hope to have better luck this year using the rope instead of cable. It is on a 2014 sportsman 850 and it works excellent compared to this video anyway!!

@ 1:34 those are called "Shoes" and no they are for, so you can adjust them to certain heights so your blade doesn't dig into the soft ground or gravel before the ground is froze, or in the spring when the ground is thawing. I personally never use them.

Hopefully you answer. maybe I missed it. Did you get the replacement for free? The first piece that broke, was the same piece on your second mounting bracket. I also snapped my winch hook at same time(from pulling in too many times). Today, I had the pin that locks the blade into the different positions, sear off. so now the plow is ineffective. it also snapped a piece of metal that holds the plow adjustment bar. the piece ripped off perfectly, meaning the weld didn't hold. I made a claim today, hopefully the pieces are replaced free of charge.
good system, just needs better welds

I bought the glacier plow system for my Polaris quad and the shoes burnt off on the first night I used it. The cutting edge was worn away and I was grinding into the actual plow. Polaris will not warranty a blade that was used only 5 night because they said I "used it excessively"

Assuming the design is robust the plow should work well if they manufacture it right. The failure you show is due to a bad (cold) weld on the bracket. Poor process control at supplier. Chances are very good there are more of these out there which also explains why you've been through a few. Just be sure the dealer pushes that back to Polaris and doesn't start blaming abuse or something like that because he's tired of submitting warranty claims! Plain and simple this is a quality issue with the supplier.

    i also have a 570.
that bracket was only welded on one side. thats inherently weak. [you probably know this by now]. i hate to mess with the paint but i would weld it up. just something i'm equipped to do. anyway thanks for the very helpful video, i'll probably buy polaris instead of generic.
so it quick disconnects the entire unit? how hard to reconnect?

Hey Kris, I just bought a new 16 Touring 570 with this Glacier setup. I know your review. I seen it a month ago or so. I'm starting to get second thoughts. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten the glacier. I didn't actually get the machine yet but it's ordered and all parts as well. You think I should cancel the glacier?

hope you get it working bro that is a nice ATV too. Are you looking to make some extra money plowing snow this Winter?

I figured I would probably plow out the neighbors and stuff, but for the most part I bought the ATV for joyrides in the forest!

The 570 and the 850 mounts are different. The one for my 850 is much sturdier.

ya. I'm very disappointed on my warn plow bracket on my 2015 yahama Viking I'm in the process of beefing up all their welds an putting gussets in all the areas it's been bending an there poor welding job looks like a 5 yr old welded up mine as well.

I am replying to this comment, as the new system is not currently available for my 570. It is available for the 850, but not the 570.

Great review, good information provided, must be Chinese made junk. I was thinking about it for an 850. I'll stick with the glacier 2 on my 550. Thanks.

    • @itsKrisFox

Good call. I had to go through like 3 of these already. I figure if you weld on a nice bead on all 3 spots that keep breaking, it would work fantastic. Also, this winter the plow has worked well, just the disconnecting kit that is the issue.

    • @thesaltycarpenter5245
      @thesaltycarpenter5245 6 лет назад

The mount for the 850 is much beefier.

I was thinking more like American made junk, just like our cars. No problems with the Yamaha's or Toyota's

Old comment but thought I'd add the 850 doesn't have this issue much better.

Great video but Polaris now has an updated part. I almost didn't get the Glacier Pro mount for my 2012 850 after watching this but a few others mentioned too that it's been fixed. After comparing yours to the one online and reading multiple forums it looks like an entirely different part. See here: atv.polaris.com/en-us/shop/accessories/plows/2881423/
