Hi - someone else has mentioned in the comments - I’m new to Fundations as well and would love to know in detail what you do during that heggerty/fundations block. I actually learn best through visuals instead of reading that huge fundations book so it would be great to see your daily/weekly breakdown/plan
Thank you so much for this inside peek each week! I’m no longer in the K12 classroom, instead teaching pre-service teachers, and I always recommend your channel or a specific video when we are working on something related. I taught 4th/5th so your content helps a lot when planning for those primary concepts in engaging ways for my students. My oldest is in first this year so you’ve given me some great ideas of ways I can adapt to her level of knowledge and enrich her learning at home too. 🥰🥰
This is all so amazing. I job shared in first grade last year and have taught 5th grade for many years before that but right now in first grade I feel like I'm drowning, this breaks it down a lot thank you!
I ate an egg for breakfast, but not unscrambled eggs, but the boiled ones. I also ate cereal for breakfast. My favorite were Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and many others.
Hi Susan... I sent you a message last week with photos of my kiddos enjoying your Letter Bugs game... but not sure it went through... anyway... love your videos and your resources!
How many groups do you meet within your small group time? Do you rotate? I have been using Must Do May Do instead of rotating. I was curious how you manage groups. And yes, Smore was free for the first 3 months. I did the same thing, bought it myself, and then our district purchased it for all teachers to use the following year. Love your videos! I get so many good ideas from you!
I do the same in my room. Rotating takes away from my group time having to stop and clean up to rotate. I need some tips on time management with groups. How much time do you spend with groups? How many groups a day? Love your videos!
We don't rotate, no - it is more like a must do, may do system! Each group only has one activity (either independent, partner, or with me) that they MUST do, then they have may do options afterwards. I plan to give this system another couple weeks to iron out any wrinkles that arise - then I will make a video sharing all about small group time and how I organize it! To answer your question, I can easily meet with 3 groups per day due to our schedule. We have a 30 minute small group reading block built in and then a 45 minute WIN block. Technically, I could do 5, 15 minute small group sessions per day back-to-back... but realistically my plan is 3-4! I will definitely explain more in a video though!
Also thanks for the idea of the fluency folders. I bought the blending lines fluency unit on your TPT. I am going to set up folders tomorrow with my firsties.
So I don't do "centers" where students will rotate throughout the time. Instead, they will have a "center" for a whole day - so kind of like a "must do" and then they have "may do" options afterwards. I have been keeping mine in paper trays from Lakeshore and it seems to be going well! I am going to give this system another couple weeks then I will do a video sharing how I organize it!
You can get them at any craft store - they're called "plastic canvas sheets" that people use for crafting projects. Here is an example: amzn.to/3EHvTHr (you can cut them into smaller pieces easily!)
I look forward to you every Sunday! Thank you for all you do to help other teachers!
Please share some more of what you do with Fundations. I'm using that program for the first time, and am still trying to figure it out. Lol.
Thank you for sharing. Could you do a post on how to make the slides.
Thank you so much for continuing to share! I just purchased the summit and can't wait to attend.
Susan, I would love it if you could do a tutorial on how you actually make the slides. You are awesome!
Noted!! I saw a few people say this - I am sure I can make a quick video sharing that!
Yes!!morning meeting 😊
How do you use fundations?
Yes! Morning meeting!

I'm doing the same. I gave them tasks to complete then they can do whatever may do they want independently.

Is the math club always available to join?
Do any of your materials teach soft c and soft g with silent e?
I always love your videos!! I learn so much!
Question, how do you organize your centers storage? Switching out centers is the hardest thing for me.

where are the bumpy boards from

Where can I find the Roll & Race/Read?
Currently those are only in the SJT Literacy Club, but I can look to putting them on TPT!
Yes please do ❤
Yes Please...breathing procedure!
Do you have the slides for Fundations available in your Teachers Pay Teachers store?
I don't since I am just making them (and adding to them) as we learn skills each week! Maybe in the future though!
Where did you get the birthday cups? Do you sell the birthday book?
I bought "plastic dome cups" from Amazon! And I don't sell the birthday book cover at this time - I just threw it together in PowerPoint
Do you sell your slides?
I don't right now!
I use her Writing warm ups from tpt. Love them!
What do you do for Open House?
I will share a video about that!
