I loved visiting Glass Beach in Fort Bragg at different times over the years. I even had the pleasure of having a beer with Captain Cass on Glass Beach. He spread a blanket on the hood of his car and sold a few sea glass treasures. He is an expert at when, where and how to find 'treasure'! His impact was minimal on the beach. Yes, I did some beachcombing there, and have collected some glass, years ago. More recently I was shocked and saddened to see some who were hauling away as much of the glass as they could carry! Two women who told me they were visiting from the East coast had large USPS shipping boxes in their car, which they were filling with sea glass and "mailing it home". I questioned their actions, but they had no guilt over removing the enjoyment for people who came there from all over the world to see this treasure. I've read that collecting is now prohibited. I'm very fortunate I saw these beaches when they weren't so popular, and being looted.
I grew up in Fort Bragg, there was tons of glass, it’s sad that it’s going away quickly. I went to Glass Beach all the time, I lived walking distance from the beach, great memories ❤️👌🏻
One thing I love about a local beach, is when the glass washes above the rocks & sand…gives a beautiful wave crashing wind-chime like sound. Worded terribly but hopefully you all understand. If you can, take it in & enjoy.
I used to love collecting sea glass with my Mom. Sadly, there is so little sea glass now. It’s been replaced with horrid plastic littering the beaches and polluting our oceans 😔
Give it 50 years and it will be a fad for ocean plastic to be an artisan material. Environmentalist groups are collecting it and recycling them into trinkets now. It’s a logical step.
I was walking along a deserted beach on an island in the Pacific & kept hearing what sounded like a dog chain rattling behind me. Kept turning around thinking some stray dog was following me. Took a while to figure out tide was coming in & it was the sea glass I was hearing. Nothing better than walking on a beach in the Pacific & finding an old Japanese glass float from a fishing net. Like finding a big emerald or diamond sitting on the sand.
Go to Montecito California and onto butterfly Beach… Continue south and continue north… To the south most beach of Santa Barbara… Beautiful area to collect the seaglass! As always, go when it is low tide…
Trash can often become one man’s treasure. Especially at how Mr. Krabs found a hat that once belonged to Mr. Smitty WerbenJagerManJensen. “It was his hat, Mr. Krabs! He was number one!”
Reminds me of my school trips to the Chesapeake Bay and Solomons Island, i fell in love with the fossils, glass and solitary Lighthouses. The glass is a powerful memory of the sea and bay for me ❤
Kelli Thompson at Saltwater Jewellry Designs creates the most beautiful pieces we have seen in thirty years of vacationing in Bermuda. Her love of nature, her unique artistry, and her generous spirit enhance all of Kelli’s creations. It’s a joy to take home these little treasures as mementos of a visit to this island paradise.
Take some glass put it in a a Tumblr put some sand in there and saltwater and let it tumble around for a couple days and you'll have sea glass I learned that back in 1963
a place with low tourism and churning waves could take glass bottles break them and dump massive amounts for a long time, then leave it to become a completely glass beach, would eventually attract tourist
I remember when there were a lot of colors down there at Fort Bragg. Now its all the same brown and clear and green, and its disappearing daily because people dont respect that sign you so kindly posted at the end of this video.
I used to find a lot of smooth shards of glass in the Andaman Sea and I used all of them in my art collages. today i only find plastic and dead fish, wrapped in masks
This is the proof, once again a million times, mother nature plans is always better than human plans! So, respect her is our valued lesson!

kind of like when you flick a penny into a good luck fountain 😌
One thing I love about a local beach..
Is when it's not a polluted misnamed Lake shore ..
Enjoy your trash asmr
Beach town's on the Oregon coast are shops that collect plastic trash from the ocean and beaches and transform them into sculptures!!!!
There are no limits in artistic creativity when working with sea glass.

To bad there can't be such a demand for all the plastic that's in the ocean now.

How much grass had you smoked just prior?

One man's stone is another man's gem.
We teenage beach combers loved bottle beach on North Tybee Island Ga. Back in the1970s
Too bad we can’t do with with plastic. We should go back to using more glass. It seems less detrimental to the environment.
Agreed
Northern Mudlarks and Nicola White are my favorite beach pickers.

Really Enjoyed.. Thank you for sharing
Beautiful story
How beautiful

Why saltwater and not just water? Sat has no affect on glass far as I know..
Well we should continue throwing bottles in the sea to make more sea glass 🤗
Lovely video. Many Thanks.
Very enjoyable. Many thanks
This was interesting-I honestly never knew what sea glass was.
That is not garbage. It’s art. I think there should be controlled glass dumping to recycle in a fun and beautiful way.

Wonderful video, so very interesting.
It’s pretty. Just don’t step on it before it gets smooth.

3:31 A talk with James Patterson and Dolly Parton about music when Sunday Morning returns
It's the poor mans stained windows that look nice.
I used to find a lot of smooth shards of glass in the Andaman Sea and I used all of them in my art collages. today i only find plastic and dead fish, wrapped in masks
I must visit 🥳
I've found some but they're not thin as bottles or any other container.. they're pretty fat.
Even with veins inside, like tunnels for some little animal
U can get some really incredible beach glass at Davenport Beach near Santa Cruz California
I've collected glass for years and started others doing it as well
So pretty
I wish we could break tons of glass and throw into the ocean so we can make more sea glass.
This video looks like its from 1994 but it was posted this year lol.
Huh…oh…🤔
Babies- I love glass hunting but it’s become so competitive that it killed the vibe:(
looks like an auracite
Sea GLASs
Hmmm
😂😂
Don’t care 😊
Are sea glass harmful to environment and aquatic organisms?
