Thank you for talking about the panic attack while shopping in the super market. That happens to my sister all the time. While I understand what she is going through you don't fully understand it until it happens to you. Which it has happened to me recently on three occasions. You explained it so clearly especially with the vision and smelling something to snap you out of it. I started to carry an essential oil to smell and drinking some cold water actually helps as well. ❤

Thank you for opening up about your panic attacks. I have them too, at home, grocery stores, large crowd settings, driving etc.. I usually drink water or breathing exercises. Sometimes I feel like I may pass out. It’s hard and it’s mentally exhausting! Thanks again for sharing, nice to know your not the only one. I am def going to try that Vicks Vap thing you used 😊

Stephanie, thank you for sharing and offering a safe space here to discuss panic attacks. I completely understand how you feel and felt at costco. I have had similar episodes over the years and I find for starters if I enter a store especially a large one that has a lot of people, I pace myself to either shop or leave. No AC, I'm out. I've also spent time in a store and the panic comes over me all of a sudden and like you, I dont want to draw attention yet the feeling is so overwhelming it adds to the panic. What works for me is holding my cross that I wear everyday. It was a gift from my best friend of almost 40 years who passed away suddenly, tragically and far too young a year ago this past July😢 I will hold my cross, say a prayer and internally give myself a self therapy talk. If it becomes too much I will leave to catch my breath but if it passes I will drink my water while telling myself I'm ok. This has passed. If you get enough feedback to dedicate a vlog on panic attacks and anxiety, I would be interested. I dont speak on this often with anyone unless they can relate. I dont have hypochondriac tendencies. My panic comes from various matters, one being I overthink things. I'm a work in progress by no means perfect, so I hear you 🫶🏽🙏🏼

Thank you so much for sharing your anxiety and panic situation with us! I experience every single thing you did, to the point where I had agoraphobia for a while. It’s such a mental battle, but the best thing you can do is remind yourself in that’s moment that you are safe, and anxiety is only an emotion and a rush if adrenaline. Your body is trying to protect you from a danger that isn’t there. It’s easier said than done, but in the moment, you just need to tell yourself “I accept and allow this feeling, I accept and allow these thoughts”. It will always peak, and then subside. Every time!

Completely relatable with the panic attacks as many mentioned. And having fear associated with places or similar situations that it occurred is again relatable. That’s the brain being triggered as a “have to go into survival mode” through the relation. A trigger (not a fan of this word.. overused but works for this situation) can be activated by the smallest thing too we don’t even realize. Being a psychologist now I have come to understand more how it works. You explained it great! I find the 5 senses of 54321 help, along with ..is this worry fact or worry. And the sensations (smell or cold water or something very sour) are great like mentioned! Love your channel 💕💕

Your entire explanation of a panic attack is exactly how mine are. From the thoughts that get deeper to you feeling embarrassed is exactly how I feel. I was in Walmart last weekend and had to call my mom and walk through the aisles to calm down 🥺

@@JJ-kf4kcsometimes I use a technique that saw somewhere that’s called grounding. You smell and touch and call out five things around you. When I’m home alone having one, I usually use that technique. Sometimes they’re worse when I’m two weeks away from period and I remind myself that it’s just my period coming on, and I start relaxing. Another good one for me is to watch a good RUclipsr that will comfort me. I’m gonna be honest, sometimes it’ll get so deep that I have to wait the panic attack out though, so I end up just calling someone 😞

I get panic attacks too! They use to be so bad where I thought I was having a heart attack & would go to the hospital. Now I know what it is so I just talk to myself in my head that this is just a feeling I’m not going to pass out. It tends to happen to me when I go in stores with lots of people & noise it’s like overstimulation. I use to not go in the grocery store but I push myself to just fight through it.

Both of my daughters get panic attacks and I never completely understood what they were feeling at the time and would try to get them to snap out of it themselves thinking it was just a mind over matter type of situation but then years later since Covid I myself sometimes will start feeling this way in stores or anyplace really that has crowds of people and I feel so bad thinking back. I’m so proud of how you have learned to deal with it and work through it 🌻😌

Exactly I agree, I think Covid really caused a lot of this. I mean I had them before covid but I noticed it's much worse now and more frequent. I'm learning to manage it and not letting it debilitate me but I think for all of us, it will take time to adjust back to normalcy.

I can totally relate to having panic attacks.. I’ve noticed that always happened to me when go into the store at Walmart. Not sure if it’s the crowd or a mixture of both that an feeling overheated. But noticed usually happens when overheated in summer or get too cold in the winter. It’s a weird feeling like you’re not getting enough oxygen to your brain. Then your heart starts racing beating real fast. And you feel extremely dizzy like you’re about to pass out. That’s what happens with me anyways. But just a thought also.. I’ve noticed when drink a lot of caffeine especially coffee that will bring on the panic attacks. Not saying that’s the case with you but something to consider. 💕

🌼Hi Stephanie! You are so SWEET and BEAUTIFUL! I love your sweet videos. So sorry you had an anxiety attack in Costco. That’s great that you deescalated the thoughts…you know anxiety always comes in a form of fear in your mind and from one thought you get many more! ALWAYS know it’s a “thought”-a threat in your mind to get you fearful and immobile triggering other physical reactions. No weapon formed against you shall prosper…that includes a thought…❤YOU are safe!

I thought I was the only one experiencing this. Like going to the shops ,being where there is too many people. First time I experienced severe anxiety I fainted at a grocery store at the pay point. I didn't see it coming and before I knew it everyone had left what they were doing to attend to me. Second time it happened at the post office,I was pregnant. I started feeling very weird and I tried holding on to the chair so hard until I fainted. I tried to keep myself together until I couldn't. I didn't wanna make a scene. The worst thing is that my husband, the paramedics and everybody else around were all trying to help me. I felt so much shame. 😢

My son is 22 and he suffers from panic attacks. First time was probably the scariest ever. Not knowing what was wrong or what was happening. For him and anyone that experiences them is extremely scary. No matter how often or not you have them it’s always scary. He now carries a paper bag in his car always because deep breathing in the bag helps calm him down. Crazy how certain hacks help ❤ thank you for talking about it. So many people suffer in silence 🫶🏾

@@JJ-kf4kc you’re so welcome! The deep breathing and then thinking about someplace he would love to be. It’s mainly getting him to calm down take deep breaths and relax. His panic attacks are triggered when he gets anxious or nervous about something. So for example he was getting ready for the 1st day of school this was when he was in high school and he was so nervous and anxious about going to school that it triggered a panic attack. I’m sure everyone is different and triggers are different but learning what triggers and finding those small things that help you deal with it. In the beginning it would scare him to where everytime he would call 911, but over the years he’s definitely learned what helps him through. Hope this helps 🩷🩷
