    I have this lens and I love it. It's on my a6400 90% of the time, for photos & videos, for work and for fun. I also have a bunch of primes, some modern, some vintage, which all have their unique flavor, but for versatility and quality, this is it.

      Would you consider this lens light, just right or heavy, for you?

    • @kistovisback
      @kistovisback 2 года назад +3

      For me, it suits me really well. It's not tiny, but it's not large large. I've used it for 3-4 hour long sessions (following some biologists around in the field for example), two handed, one handed, never felt like the lens was too heavy or cumbersome.

    • @RocZi
      @RocZi 2 года назад

      @@kistovisback i see. thanks for your reply. i thought it felt heavy. i must build more muscles =D
      i been watching the comparison of tamron 17-70 and sigma 16-50mm and sony 18-55. and because my sony zv-e10 is smaller and lighter than the tamron, the tamron seem huge.

    • @kistovisback
      @kistovisback 2 года назад +4

      @@RocZi Yes. indeed. The key advantage of the Tamron for me is the VC, because I do mostly video. The VC is the difference between useable hand held footage and no usable hand held footage. Don't get me wrong, it's not magic, but holding it steady "interviewing" someone, or slow steady pans, it works. If I were to think about photo mainly, I would 100% go for the Sigma. Then again, unlike my a6400, with the zv-e10 you have both active stabe and catalyst browse giro data, so you're willing to put up with the extra post processing step of catalyst browse, you could use the sigma for hand held video too, if that's a concern.

    Hi. Impressed with your review. You got it spot on. I tried a Sigma 30mm F1.4 in my a6400 and i would say i didn't like it as i was more into landscape and wider shots. I had to move a long way back to frame my shots. The closeups were very good with good Bokeh but for wider shots it's not recommended. Then i researched and found this Tamron 17-70mm. It's a great addition for those who want to cover everything from portrait to landscape. Cheap price range. The only negative is that some times it doesn't focus on the desired region when pressing the shutter half way. You have to press a couple times to get the focus point spot on in 17mm. The other SOny Kit lens would do this more quicker. The image quality is great for such a budget Lens. This is a must have lens for Sony APSC shooters.

    • @PavSZ
      @PavSZ  6 месяцев назад +2

      It is an APS-C lens, it crops at 1.5x factor so you do get 25.5-105mm equivalent exactly on a full frame camera.

      @PatrickCrawfordVideo 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@PavSZ @PavSZ Thats the full frame equivalent, it doesn't mean you get that range if you literally place the same lens on a full frame camera. If you apply an ASPC lens onto a full frame body you get a 1.5 crop FROM 25.5-105..... hence if you put this lens on a Sony A7iii for example, your NEW range would be 37-157mm......otherwise full frame and ASPC lenses would be the same! For the same reason if you place a full frame lens on an APSC, you will need to crop in as there will be significant vignetting.

    • @LongCaoOfficial
      @LongCaoOfficial 4 месяца назад +2

      @@PatrickCrawfordVideowhen you put a apsc lens onto a fullframe, say this 17 70 lens, the focal range will still be 17 70 on fullframe, giving us the true focal range of 17 70, much wider than using with an apsc, but with heavy vignetting - make it unusable.
      So we have to use apsc crop mode to zoom into the sensor to get rid of those vignetting. And the final focal range is 1.5x closer. 17 70 turn in to a 25.5 to 105. The field of view is exactly the same with an apsc camera now.
      Please just try yourself and learn better before conclusion!

      If we’re talking “equivalents” then it’s really just a 25-105 f4 full frame equivalent. With that in mind, Tamron basically created a mini 24-105 f4 for APSC. The only advantage is that it does relatively collect a little more light being a 2.8, but the depth is the more or less equivalent to a full frame f4.

    hello sir, i want to ask about the stabilization of Sony A6700 and Tamron 17-70mm. I have Sony A6700 and Sigma 16mm, but recently i want to buy a zoom lens. I want to buy Tamron 17-70mm just like yours. But i am aware there are a lot of people who said that the IBIS in A6700 fighting with the VC in Tamron 17-70mm, and its not recommended for the combination.
    can you share your A6700's steady shot setting in this video? Is it Off, Standard or Active? Because i see that your footage of A6700 and Tamron 17-70 are super smooth and there are no jitters whatsoever.
