Sen. Miriam knows, because she was also a victim nung sinabi niyang "the sins of the father should not be visited upon the son". Her son commited suicide dahil binully siya sa school ng Professors niya for being Miriam Defensor-Santiago's son. I remember when her son died, sinigaw niya talaga sa media na kung may problema kayo sa akin, sa akin niyo sabihin bakit kailangan yung bata ang makarinig.

She was my president last election and I believe in her. Although I didn't vote for BBM this election, I had hopes that Philippines will still be a better country. When she said "depends on what he uses the power for", I do hope he's going to use it for the sake of our country and its people. I believe everyone is entitled on their own opinion and have the right to choose what to believe. I just hoped that what some Filipinos fear to happen, won't happen and that BBM can prove his ability to lead. This comment is not siding one over the other. It's my fair judgment. To have a peaceful country without wars over the internet, BBM should prove the people, who doubted him, wrong. And the people with doubts should wait and give him enough time to prove himself.
My prayers for now is that I hope the internet wars would stop because it can lead to a tragic event on a person. One's words can cause someone harm mentally, emotionally and can even lead to taking someone's life. This has to stop!

Well said, brother/sister. I myself don't necessarily share the same opinion as many, but I sincerely hope those who ended their interpersonal relationships simply because of difference in opinions would realize how foolish their actions are. Humans will inevitablt always have a difference in opinions, and it's imperative that we respect and recognize where we should draw the line of beliefs from personal connections. How futile is it that one should cut off ties from precious relationships just because of Politics when every 6 years, another change will happen? What for? Just because of a momentary surge of emotions? One mustn't make big decisions driven by strong emotions. Ms. Miriam truly is wise beyond years. It's a shame that Filipinos never experienced her presidency. I share her stance that the idea of Philippines being the rising whatchamacallit. Those titles are nothing but delusions. Distractions. That's not to say Philippines has no potential. However titles like such bear no merit to us except blinding us with momentary pride for patriotic illusion. We've seen it from other countries in history too. When countries convince themselves as "the best country," they go overboard in this sense of patriotism by either consciously or subconsciously belittling another country. No country is better than another. Each country has it's own pros and cons. We love our country, but that doesn't mean we are better than the others. The same applies for the other way around. This should've been the case. It's saddening to hear incidents of friends fighting with friends and ending their relationships because they differ in who they support politically. Or cutting ties with their families. All because they don't realize they're unable to draw a clear line where and when they should stop and avoid conflict.
This 2022 election with Mr. Marcos winning, I think there's more at stake for him compared to any other candidates, so it will definitely serve as a driving force to make a difference. I hope Filipinos will keep their eyes figuratively open unblinded by bias and hate.

@@fin8209 No, as I understand it, Miriam was foreshadowing Marcos' plan for the Philippines which will be dependent on the country's response to his possible win because some may rebel, and by some, I meant the businessmen and those in the education sector. Knowing that even his father, due to their level of thinking, tends to prepare a plan that may affect a lot of people or even target a certain class in the current society and the plan may be too long and may appear to have no progress. Despite this, their plan will have a definite economic and societal reform but people will be too stupid to wait and be more critical thinking and the history will repeat itself.

Anti-Marcos kasi ikaw, Karen kaya gusto mo madiin si BBM. The Marcoses like most politicians are not saints but we should weigh ever angle. Karen, mouthing off GDPs like the yellow army and also using catchphrases do not mean that the Philippines is moving up. The middle class is shrinking and joblessness is quite high. There is also underemployment. If Noynoy's administration had been so successful like what they keep telling us, Duterte would not have won.

Being my champion of many noble things doesn’t mean that she is perfect. What I have come to greatly appreciate Miriam is her ability to listen to genuine criticisms devoid of any ad hominem and her willingness to change course if she senses that there is something weightier and something better plan to follow. She puts more weight on evidence-based decisions and courses of action informed by scientific data, which is a rare quality of a senator these days. She even allowed neophytes to craft bills for her. This was during the Summer sa Senado back in the late 90s. Whenever I don’t agree with her, I just think that I am more friendly to her best and noblest ideas than the fleeing choices of the moment, which could be more practically informed than idealistically pursued.

People in the world doesn't care if our constitution will be changed or if our type of government will be changed. They will empathize but after a few days, it'll be buried down by current news circulating the globe.
Why should we think about what the world thinks of us? Like what MDS said, what kind of philosophy is that? Shouldn't be the main focus of any newly elected official is how they can serve the Filipino people? Worldly exposure is freaking useless, tbh.

I still love taking vacations & visiting reltives & friends in the Philippines, but honestly, I have moved on & I can’t imagine myself living back in the Philippines anymore. I’m not saying US is the best country to live though.. but living here made me realize how far our country has been lacking behind especially in terms of basic needs & benefits that are due for the people. The Philippines has still a long way to go. Hopefully, ang mga kaapu-apuhan would benefit in th future leaders & I pray for the people of the Philippines. Like she said, Leni will focus on humanitarian activities and Bongbong will focus on gathering power. When asked by Karen, “wouldn’t that be a negative thing?”, Miriam answers that it depends where he’ll use that power for so she’s not absolutely sure that Bongbong will use it for good but she still gave an unbiased opinion being that they are running partners and probably friends. Then there are these people for BBM negatively talking about Leni just because Miriam was for or with BBM in this video. The video didn’t conclude anything wrong about Leni. Comprehension, people. COMPREHENSION.

Few reacted, not because they were dumbfounded, many times it was because they knew she just won't let it go.

“Bongbong would be more focused on gathering power and exercising it. Leni will be more focused on the welfare and humanitarian activities of the government.”
With that observstion if it’s between BBM and Leni:
I think BBM seems to be more fit as President, Leni should consider being part of the DSWD instead.
In addition, I also liked what she said that: “Statistics do not dictate economical prosperity.”

There is no equal distribution of wealth especially when Cory started to privitize most of the Marcos built, government owned entities such as Meralco, NAWASA, PLDT, PAL, PETRON, and many many more....

Are you saying that President Marcos built all those companies, and that they were all government-owned entities until Cory started privatizing them? This is a long read, but you need to read it as FYI:
MERALCO was established by a foreign private firm in early 1900s. The Lopezes legally bought the company in 1960s, then "nationalized" by force in 1972 under Martial Law. MERALCO was only brought back to its legal owners, not sold by Cory.
NAWASA was not built by Marcos. It was already operational way before his time. Cory did not privatize it as well. It was done in 1994 during a water crisis, finalized in 1997. 1994 and 1997 was under the admin of Ramos, not Aquino.
PLDT was established by a private American company during the American era, but under a National Bill signed by the American Governor-General. A Cojuangco aquired the company during the 1960s, then controlled by the government under Martial Law and was monopolozed. It was reprivatized and brought back to the Cojuangcos during Cory admin, but Cory abolished monopoly. If the monopoly still existed today, we won't have Globe, Sun, Dito, Digitel etc and rates would be as expensive especially calls abroad.
PAL was also established by a private group again way before Marcos era but was soon nationalized then privatized again in the 1960s. It wad again controlled by the governement under Martial Law under one-airline policy which aimed to monopolize. PAL was stil public until 1992 months before Cory's term ended, but Cory abolished the monopoly clause in 1988. If the monopoly still existed, we won't have CebuPacific then the rest of other airlines which gave way to more affordable travel for every Pinoy.
PETRON was established by a private firm, was nationalized under Martial Law, and was again privatized in 1994 UNDER RAMOS ADMIN.
As for the elites, I personally know rich people who are CRONIES of the Marcoses. If that was your concern, then you should know how these people became even richer during the Marcos era.
Know your history. Know it well.

While F. Marcos had an Iron fist, it was Joma Sison who fueled the conflicts giving the government at the time reason to give Martial Law powers to F. Marcos.
Plus the not so professional army and police at the time (still relatively new).
