    What if you feel your private key was compromised? Could you get another Ledger Nano S Plus and set it up with a new private key, then how would you transfer from a Nano S to the new nano S plus? So that you now have a new private key and no longer the private key that may have been compromised?
    Also would you now have two ledger H/W wallets each having separate private keys?

    • @nm9213
      @nm9213 2 года назад +3

      Its pretty easy to do this... yes you would need a new nano and set it up with a new 24 words then connect to Ledger Live then create a 'receive' address, then connect your original nano to Ledger Live and then just send your assets/coins to the new address. Then if you want to you can reset the original nano so those 24 words no longer exist.. Just be very careful to correctly write down the new 24 words. hope this helps

      Thanks for the question - in the event your recovery phrase is compromised (lost or stolen) the safest way to proceed is to immediately transfer your funds to safe third-party accounts, reset your Ledger device, create a new recovery phrase, create new accounts in Ledger Live and send your funds back to your new accounts
      The whole process is explained in this video:
      ruclips.net/video/VfniSKnV0pU/видео.html
      In case you're wondering, any Ledger device can accept your 24-word recovery phrase, regardless of the model (Nano X, Nano S and S Plus).
      Hope this answers your question!

    Hi @Ledger, Thanks for your explanation on the Bip39 standard, which I interpret as "I can recover my account on any (non ledger, ie trezor etc.) third party device that supports the standard". Is the extra layer of security with the passphrase also in that standard, ie will I be able to use the same passphrase to access my "secret account" on a 3rd party device ? Do most 3rd party devices support this 25th word passphrase?

      Thanks for the question Richie - this is most likely a derivation paths issue with Keystone using a different Path than Ledger Live to discover your accounts. Basically, your private keys are part of a giant tree of accounts but Ledgerlive is looking for your accounts in the wrong "branch".
      This could be solved by creating new Ledger Polkadot accounts in Ledger Live and transferring your coins from your Keystone accounts to your ledger accounts via a transaction.
      You could also try connecting your Ledger device to a third party app like Talisman of polkadot.js which might support the derivation path used by Keystone.

      For now, the best way forward is probably to connect your Ledger device to a third-party app that understands their derivation path (polkadot.js should do the job) or create new Ledger Polkadot accounts in Ledger Live and transfer the coins over from Keystone.
