This song totally encapsulates my first love...what's truly devastating is it was, 16 years ago that he left and broke my heart, and I just found out he loved me back when I thought he didn't. Who knows where we'd be if we'd only had the guts to admit how we felt to one another, maybe it'd be me who married him instead of us going our separate ways. As sad as it is, I like to think that there's some alternate universe out there where we did get together, we did get married, we had that dream come true. But as long as he's happy in this universe that's all that matters.
Oh my gosh, why am I crying?! It was an emotional affair that went nowhere, it lasted 3 years and then he left. I hadn't even thought of him for a couple of years so I don't get why finding out he loved me back now hurts so much, I mean he's married and I've been in other relationships since. So why does it feel like I'm still 19 years old and my heart is breaking all over again? I'm even hugging a damn pillow the exact way I did the day he left. Wow.
