I love how nanami being hurt causes riou and jowy, ready to fight each other for the sake of something greater than themselves, and seeing no way out of their destiny, to in an instant team up and execute their old buddy attack perfectly in sync even while jowy has a different weapon and is dressed in royal armor, without a single word spoken between them. This is the love between friends.
Gotta love the comparison between great bosses. You got people like Luca, who was a terrifying beast, cunning, savage, a horrible force of nature itself, cruel and terrible yet awesome, who took 18 people, a betrayal, some arrows, and a one-on-one to subdue. Creatures like Neclord, who tormented mankind for a long time, who took so much from so many, an aberration that should not exist and that took the combined efforts of many people from opposing walks of life, and even True runes to destroy once and for all. And then this pathetic fat f@ck, the embodiment of petty ambition with neither genuine power nor smarts, which his own subjects reject out of disgust from his actions, who takes only TWO people to beat into a pulp, and yet HE is the only one who can hurt the protagonist the most in the story.
This track really fits the forever sign spell, almost going through like a flash back while it's casting. But yeah I normally try to do my best to extend the fight as long as I can. Jowy and Riou start with a final "friend" attack. Then it's Hungry Friend and Forever Sign.
I love how this music is a manifestation of the rage against the villainy. You can feel the anger of Riou, Jowy and even the player themself at the boss in this track I, for one, when I got to this point, while the music is playing, immediately used my most powerful rune attacks against him in fury at what he did. The music only made my anger and grief more pronounced. Man, Suikoden 2 was something else.
I think there was a narrative-driven reason that made this a symbolic fight. You had been using the Shield Rune all this time, and in a brief moment of reuniting with your friend, [redacted scene], and you unleash all your anguish with said friend's Sword Rune upon this evil coot who was so smug about the shit he had done.
@@Harmonia96 It didn't help that the Forgiver Sign and Hungry Friend basically make this fight short, that and Gorudo used the Mother Earth Rune, which isn't really that strong (he doesn't use Canopy Defense).

Right. This fight was purposely designed for Jowy and Riou to beat the shit out of Gorudo in 2 rounds. He presents absolutely no threat to you at all.
