Kicker is actually a sleeper need for us. Probably the only thing I miss about pre Dan/Brad era is that we had a good kicker. Bates would certainly fill that hole that we have.

Lions must sign him. #1 offense in the NFL with him. He hit 7 FGs on that game but two were called back because of penalties which gave Michigan 1st downs.
With all the captains and other players, I believe that Bates will really enjoy playing for the Lions. They can help him feel comfortable and that will help him. Listening to you it kicked in that this is his best opportunity to have a solid career in the NFL.
I hope Adrian Martinez gets an invite to camp this year. He is 2nd in the UFL in passing yards and leading the league in rushing yards. Nate Sudfeld is trash.

The bonus with Bates wouldn't have to relocate, it makes sense for him to be playing for one of the best teams in the NFL. 3 years ago I didn't think that I would be saying that.
There were some questionable 4th downs that Dan might have kicked on instead…if they had a kicker like Bates.

I was watching the panthers game as well, I'm pretty sure Bates just flat out shanked the missed game winning attempt before getting a retry with the penalty. At least that's what the broadcast team also said. I feel in love with Bates since week 1 when he filled that 64 yarder, I really hope he keeps it up like he has and we end up signing him!

I would love to see the Lions pick him up, but he grew up in Texas (just outside of Houston) so if the Texans want him back on their roster again(they cut him before the start of last season), or the Cowboys are interested in him that could be our downfall.

I don't really understand paying Badgley that much and the pickup of the Michigan kicker. Maybe Brad got the wrong memo and didn't pick the right kicker from Michigan. But I think it is a long shot unless Bates has a love for staying in Michigan. He will get offered some good money, more than what Brad will spend.

Let me state the obvious. We need to bring in as many kickers as possible to find the guy. We really need to get DC a kicker he can feel good about to cut down on some of the crazy 4th down tries! Personally I didn’t think the money badger was really as unreliable as DC said. I think it’s his excuse for going for it so much.

Campbell is one of the best situational coaches in the league not every 4th down is the same. You are just repeating what you heard 97.1 say thinking you sound edgy. You sound like a child. Our kicker stunk and our offense was really good. When Brandon Staley went for it he was brilliant.
I can think of 1 main reason he won’t come to Detroit: another team offers more money

Brad would need to be aggressive because Jake will garner interest from other teams that are going to go hard in trying to obtain his services. My biggest concern with Brad when free agents become available he isn't aggressive enough and not to mention he don't like to spend money. You'll need a very aggressive GM' to make this happens. Brad has yet to still address the edge rush.
Holmes would be stupid not to bring this kid in..our kicking game has been crap ever since they let prator walk...this guy could potentially win you 2 or 3 games with his leg

@@LionsFanSyndicateJohn Parker Romo, he had leg but not consistent! Its why Badgley keeps coming back, 50+ he was more consistent, than him, Patterson or Seibert! To be honest, I hope we dont have to kick much past 55 or kicking wont be our issue lol!
You can't say Bates isn't consistent. He hit his first 6 attempts which all but 1 were 50+ yard field goals, then sure he missed 2 in 1 game last week in an outdoor stadium, but then he hit 5 for 5 again today including another 60 yard that was dead center and could've really made it from 65 plus!

That’s not the point, when the game is on the line with no time left all you have to do is get to the 50 yard line and hit a 60-70 yard bomb for the win.

Forget what the rest of the league does on 4th downs we must focus on kicking field goals on every possession. How come when Andy Reid goes for it hes brilliant? Brandon Staley was brilliant when he went for it. But Campbell who is smart in every other area of football becomes a caveman that just wants to gamble? You people dont see a flaw in that logic?
