Wow didn't know YT still recommended small channels. I have a Kobo and I love it mostly because I have 100 books in my bag at all times no matter where I am. Personally I love that it's an extra reason to go outside. Like I can get a coffee and hunt down a spot where I can just read or go though a park and have a reason to sit down a while more, it gets me out of the house and I love that since I almost always have it with me no matter where I go

Thank you for your kind comment! TMI but I was in the ER yesterday lol, and my kindle kept me sane while I was there for hours. It definitely makes waiting periods more bearable.
I’d also like to go outside more and spend time in new places so you gave me a great idea to bring my kindle with me and just relax.
And yes the RUclips algorithm is uhm, somethin 😂.

I understand and agree with your position on pain and the ergonomic value of an e-reader. It’s one of the reasons I started with Kindle a long time ago. I share your addiction to the collection as much as the reading.
You did a brilliant job of breaking down the ups and downs of Kindle ownership. I hope you continue to report on your experiences with e-readers. I’ve found myself tempted by Kobo’s color e-reader. Collecting the opinions and experiences for usability sake and aesthetic experience will be important. So, that is to say, thanks for posting this and I look forward to your future posts.

I have 2 Kindles and 2 Kobos, 1 being the new Clara Colour. I keep a Kindle Paperwhite 2023 version and a Kobo H2O Libra in my nightstand because I read for about half hour before sleep. I keep a Kindle Basic and the Clara by the couch for reading there. Those are also my travel units depending on what I’m reading. Not all are available on both systems, that’s why I use both.
Regarding buying the new Colour Kobos, unless you have a really good reason for it, yes, love of gadgets is a good reason lol 😂, I would go with either the Clara HD or the new Clara BW. The screen just isn’t as clear & sharp as it could be. Hopefully that will be adjusted with system updates. I gave my Clara HD to my read-aholic friend for her birthday.

Books will quickly take over your house. I know this for a fact. Having stuff you would not keep forever is a good idea and it is a lot cheaper to buy an ebook.

    • @NoelleD.

It is a lot cheaper! I think I’d like to buy the books that I really end up loving though for sure. That way I can own them and re-read them and they can be apart of my home and my (future) kids can read them as they grow up. (: (and maybe my friends too but I am particular on how I keep my books if I buy them new).

But when my son was born I needed light, so I bought a small light to attach to my book, but It just didn’t light very well and the neck of the light was quiet long and It just bugged me after a while. When I decided to get the kindle. I loved it. I keep it on airplane mode when I get my book and the battery lasts forever! Plus I can use the brightness to adjust my eye. Obviously its not a book and doesn’t have that book smell but I think it does the Job and also I go back to regular books nowadays , its a win on both ends

Kindle Paperwhite with 32gb and wireless charging means you got the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. Just thought you might want to know. I got some bad hip pains, which stop me from going on long walks with my Kindle. Something I loved doing a few years back. Well, I do go to parks and enjoy reading on a bench. Nice to have a reader you can take anywhere.

I too have hip pains, it’s a struggle when we cannot always do the things we love and when we cannot do the things we used to be able to do. It’s really nice though, like you said, to have a kindle and enjoy reading wherever whenever. Reading can still transport us even when we do not have the energy or ability to go places as we would like. (: I’d recommend recumbent bike whether on the road on the gym for some exercise that shouldn’t be too rough on your hips because the range of motion is not as much as a regular bike.

0:00 🔍 The speaker initially didn't see the purpose of owning a Kindle due to their preference for physical books.
1:25 🛋 Physical reading was preferred due to the tactile experience, attachment to physical books, and concerns about redundancy.
3:52 📚 Health reasons, such as thumb injuries, prompted the purchase of a Kindle for easier, less painful reading.
6:18 🌟 The Kindle's portability and ease of use appealed to the speaker, especially during trips and social situations.
10:01 📦 Anxiety about moving and the desire to reduce book purchases also influenced the decision to buy a Kindle.
14:56 👀 The Kindle's benefits include reduced eye strain, ease of use, and accessibility to free library books.
18:36 📘 Switching between books and exploring new genres like Manga became more convenient with the Kindle, especially with access to free library titles.

When I first got a Kindle back in 2016, I didn't think I'd like it because I always bought physical books, but I ended up LOVING it and now have 4. Two for home, one OLD and the newer one. Same with work. May give my old ones away or keep them to finish library books that are returned by leaving it in Airplane mode.
And I LOVE that I can borrow books digitally from the library.

I have just bought myself a kindle paperwhite 16gb as I'm new to reading. I opted not to get kindle unlimited as I also read slow and there are many books on there for a few pounds or dollars. Plus not all books are on unlimited especially new releases. I'm not sure if your aware but iv heard there are stuff your kindle/ebook days where authors release some of their books for free. I think this may be done through amazon but don't quote me lol. My only issue now is using my kindle as it cost alot of money I'm almost to scared to use it 😅. @cpmomma3360 4 месяца назад +1

@NoelleD. For one, the interface. I hate the Kindle interface experience always being clogged up with their store, kobo does not populate like that.
The way the collections are, on Kindle, is a sad little icon with text that is just boring. On kobo, they show you a few titles in each collection, and it is just visually more appealing, especially with the color.
I love that you can write on the text and highlight in color and that it has a dedicated notebook section as well, which you can have as many notebooks as you want.
I love that they are going for sustainability. I am not even a huge environmentalist per se. However, I miss the days when we could fix our things instead of rebuying them and tossing out money in the garbage and at new devices. I love that they make repairability a priority.
The color.. I mean, do I even have to gloat on that? Just being able to have the color, I feel like it would feel more like you actually have your library. Those black and white covers are just... Eh. But I love that it's not like color you would get from another device. It is still e-ink.
      32gb, waterproof, and $219.00
Oh, also wait until you try to back load books. Kindle is gatekeeping hard-core and will put ebooks from other sources on your account as documents, not ebooks. And most of them won't show the cover, even if you try to make it all nice in calibre.
Idk, I am excited about it. And for a price point, I mean, Kindle can't even get their 16gb scribe down that far.
I can put all my Kindle books on kobo too.
