    For anyone doing this, when melting the ends please do it slowly and don’t put the cord directly in the flame. No hate, but the string should just melt and stay it’s color or get slightly darkened not burn and turn a brownish shade. Love the video though!

    Very nice tutorial! I saw your previous tutorial vid and you've made the bracelets so wonderfully. I sure like to try to make one without breaking the bank form Pura Vida bracelet site(even though I did bought one once before watching the DIY video. Silly me 😝). Making DIY stuff is so much more fun than buying them itself. I'll make one myself by following the directions from your tutorial vid. And thanks for sharing this awesome tutorial of yours. I throughly enjoyed it. I give it two thumbs up!😄

    Can I use normal embroidery thread for the burning method or do I have to use this particular string

    • @knackforknots
      @knackforknots  7 лет назад +1

      I wouldn't recommend burning other types of string since you it'll just catch fire. You could maybe try some jewelry or fabric glue and see if you can seal the ends that way? Best of luck!! Thanks for watching :)

    Does it have to be wax coated string

    • @knackforknots
      @knackforknots  5 лет назад

      Hi! If you want to melt the ends, then yes, it should be the waxed polyester cord. If you choose to use other cord/string types, then you can use jewelry glue to seal the ends :) Hope that helps!

  • @cdivine9
    @cdivine9 7 лет назад +2

    Hi there! I ordered the same wax coated thread from the shop that you linked to, but instead of melting, the thread is burning. What can I do?

    • @knackforknots
      @knackforknots  7 лет назад +3

      Try not putting the string directly in the flame, or holding it in the flame for a shorter amount of time. I usually sort "wave" the flame over the ends I want to melt now. It takes a bit of practice so that the ends do not catch fire or end up too charred.

    My ends keep coming untwisted, I take me like an hour to figure out. I am so frustrated. I twist them every way possible. Help!

    • @knackforknots
      @knackforknots  3 года назад

      Hi Sheila, thanks for your message. To make sure they twist together, first twist each of the strands in the same direction as the twist pre-existing in the cord. Next, bring the two ends together and twist the pair of strings together in the same direction also. If you have some scrap cord or even embroidery floss, you can give it a try on those first before you do the twisted ends. Hopefully that helps a bit! Please let me know if it works out! 😃

    • @knackforknots
      @knackforknots  4 года назад

      Sorry for the late response! I suggest trying an Etsy search for "1mm Waxed Polyester Cord"! Hopefully you can find some local vendors or those shipping within your country, as international mail seems to be a bit backed up (at least here in Canada :( ). Hope you are staying healthy and safe!

    • @knackforknots

      Are you twisting them both in the same direction? Perhaps that could be the issue :)

    • @SusanScrapPassion
      @SusanScrapPassion 4 года назад

      I had the same problem. But, I think that part of the video was in fast forward, it was hard to see what she was doing. In order to keep it from untwisting, you have to twist the bracelet itself to keep the single cord together.

      you probably have to twist them alittle more, that kept happening to me. But u just have to also keep your place and don't move as much ( if that's the case)

  • @annietran5478

      @knackforknots  5 лет назад

      Hey Annie,
      You can try, but you would not be able to burn the ends to seal them. You might be able to use jewelry glue instead! Thanks so much for watching, and best of luck!

      Knack for Knots hey! Thank you so much for replying 🥰 I’m just wondering if melting it would make a big difference to the bracelet

    • @knackforknots
      @knackforknots  5 лет назад

      It depends on the type of string. If it isn't waxed coated, chances are, the string will just catch fire! For instance, if it's embroidery floss or cotton cord, it will just burn and not melt at all. However, different waxed polyester cords melt nicely. I've also heard about some successes with waxed nylon but have not tried it myself so I cannot confirm!

    when i twist my string and then tie it it comes undone :(

    • @knackforknots
      @knackforknots  6 лет назад

      Hey! Make sure that you are twisting both ends in the same direction as the pre-existing twists in the string. Once you've twisted each end independently, then you can twist the two twists together and tie it off. Let me know if that helps! Best of luck!
