0:11 As soon as I saw Immortal in the title, I knew I'd like it, Hedgy.

Immortal was always my favorite Black Metal band because they had fun with the genre

Man you're really open to a lot of the extreme sides of metal which is fucking awesome dude. I'd recommend "Gorguts - Absconders" for some cool stuff.

Immortal is awesome! Live, they were incredible! Great review, Hedgy!

For the 'more accessible' Black Metal I'd like to suggest an album that got me kinda back into it (was listening more to the atmospheric stuff lately). It's the second album of the Swiss band 'Ungfell' called 'Mythen, Mären, Pestilenz'. It has some Folk-like elements in it, but also some brutallity.

Subscribed! (Although your Wintersun reaction caught my attention). Immortal is one of my fav. black metal bands, but you should check out Abbath (Winterbane) - great stuff there.
Recommendation for an advanced listener: Enslaved - (either) Riitiir or The Watcher

Great stuff, I also loved this album from Immortal, and I don't even know why. I generally don't like much of the old black metal metal, but this one caught my ear. The only other album to do so would be Bergtatt by Ulver, which has a folk metal vibe of black metal.
Please do a reaction to some of Enslaved's newer stuff. I think they do a really interesting progression over the 2000s. Starting with As Fire Swept Clean the Earth or Havenless, going through Isa or Neogensis, to The Watcher and RIITIIR.
    If given one song

Mgla ! Polish black metal, good production.
    Check album Exercises In Futility.

Yup, we need Abbath back with the band :\
I would say that Immortal are the easiest black metal band to get into, since they never took themselves too seriously...
But maybe you might want to check Ulver's first album, "bergtatt". It has a lot of clean vocal and a very "folklore" atmosphere. One of the most appreciated and unique albums from the second wave of black metal.

Something off of Bergtatt is a great suggestion!

You can't really go wrong with Emperor or Bathory. The first Bathory album (to me at least) has a lot in common with Venom, but later stuff is paving the way for what we'd probably have to call "Post-Black Metal" from bands like Agalloch.

I like Immortal and also this song (well, and most of that album). So, i cannot resist to suggest the parody to this song, made by StSanders ("Immortal Shreds") - i'm very curious about what you think of it. :D

Borknagar where really great early on - essentially black metal guys who wanted to distance themselves from the corpse paint/church burning scene, and just focus on the music. Oceans Rise is the song that got me into them; if you havent heard them a reaction would be cool, but you are probably already familiar lol /watch?v=jhKhEtum3e4

I would also recommend "The Presence is Ominous"... although is not really Black Metal.

    Beautiful shirt, love Xentrix.
The video you were talking about is "The Call of Wintermoon"... the video is really horrible and silly but the song is good. Fortunetely this one is better in all aspects, better vídeo and better song. Check their songs "Tyrants" and "Withstand the Fall of Time" (my personal favorite).

      Here's some Black Metal recommendations:
ruclips.net/video/eYsqYPWzfrM/видео.html - "With Strenght I Burn" (live at Wacken 2006) by Emperor. Had to start with this legendary norwegian band, my favorite BM band.
ruclips.net/video/RpPrmUbfXak/видео.html - "Woman of Dark Desires" by Bathory. From the album "Under the Sign of the Black Mark", the first real BM album ever.
ruclips.net/video/z8VIhIIq-kk/видео.html - "Freezing Moon" by Mayhem. Probably the most iconic song of the norwegian BM scene.
ruclips.net/video/aHfXQCtnyfA/видео.html - "Mother North" by Satyricon. A classic, probably my favorite BM song.
ruclips.net/video/xlD5zePSzdQ/видео.html - "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse" by Dimmu Borgir. BM can also be symphonic like Dimmu Borgir shows playing live with an orchestra.
There's a lit more to recommend but that's some good stuff to start.

Abbath sure seems to walk the walk, living the rock n roll life! Funny, serious, seriously funny... An interview, maybe worth a reaction ruclips.net/video/9H6MYFC-f2w/видео.html
I apologize for being compelled to remind you “there are no apologies in rock n roll”. My own guilty pleasures include Japanese metal chick bands, and Journey, among others, feels good to confess, right?!
[another (very short) abbath interview, not as funny, but he’s an interesting mix of character and keep-it-real]
