As a miniature wargamer watching these vids is an awesome way to get some good motivation watching someone build something so vastly complicated compared to minis, and also a star trek fan so this was right up my alley!! Awesome work..
I've seen many videos of model builds on You Tube in the past few years. From Star Wars to Star Trek to Military vehicles and others. And I have to tell you that what you have done with this Refit build is quite simply the best work I've ever seen done to a model. Thank you for your videos and sharing your experiences with us. I enjoy your channel very much and anticipate more to come. Congratulations on such a beautiful build of one of the most beautiful ships of cinema!
All I can say is WOW!!! Just amazing! You along with some of the other modelers out there such as Steve Neill and Simon Mercs have really inspired me to get. Back into modeling. I'm getting ready to start my own 1/350 refit Enterprise just as soon as I finish the Reliant model I've been working on. It is the first model I have ever put lights in and its all because of the fantastic work and info all of you guys do to inspire us. All I can do or say is give you a heart felt thank you. Chris
I'm from Chile...and I grew up seeing and dreaming with Star Trek and other Sci-Fi series...today, at my 43 years, I continue dreaming (supported by my wife, believe it or not)....this will be one of my next projects...Congrats, it is a beautiful model
Well, I remember that night too back in 1979 very well. I was 22 years old and like others, waited a long time to see it. Toys, models, games ect where in short supply. If memory serves, I payed over $20.00 for that AMT Refit Enterprise model that year. An incredible amount for a model kit in 1979. My skills back then were no where what they are now and compaired to you and others here, apparently I still have a ways to go LOL. Wonderful videos. Always enjoyed. Thanks!
I know this is an overworked word these days but your Refit-E is truly AWESOME!!! Boyd, you've really set the bar with this one and done the old girl proud! Along the way you've taught us, or at least me numerous new techniques in modelling Trek kits. I can only hope to be half as good when I get round to mine. Peace and long life.
She is a wonder to behold, you should be proud that you not only managed to really hit it out of the park with a difficult model but that you also did such a fine ship the full justice it deserves. I have always considered the refit to be the most beautiful of all the ships in Star trek and watching you build this model has made me appreciate it even more so, I hope that someday I can even begin to afford not only the kit but all the extra's so I can give it a go myself. Thanks so much!
It's taken me a while just to come up with the words that could possibly encompass the magnitude of talent that is displayed here with this project...I struggle to find any. Absolutely stunning! I still watch repeatedly the build of all three of these kits. They are amazing, amazing replicas of 'Enterprise'! Congratulations on a job well done! You are now Fleet Admiral! Jeff
I just finished watching the complete build up on this, and all I can say is that the way you present your videos is probably the best I have yet to see. Yes, there are a few great channels that I am loyal to, but yours is just outstanding! And as far as the Refit, one of the best ones I've seen yet. You have put a lot of sweat into this, and it shows. Be proud of yourself because you have a gift that is very rewarding, and I am going to watch the NX-01 here soon. Can't wait. Thank you so much.
Stunning piece of work and a great tribute to the original model from the Motion Picture. Your work and dedication to this wonderful ship is an inspiration to all model makers.
I just watched a video on RUclips where guy built the same model. He had people all the way in the back of the shuttle Bay. I thought that was nice it showed greater depth. I'll never I never knew the shuttle Bay was all the way to the neck of the ship. That is one big shuttle Bay. It reminds me of the JJ Enterprise. Just that aspect. All the work that you have put into this model is wonderful. Thank you for showing us I appreciate it.
Beautiful finish! Your channel is a huge resource and I know I am not alone in saying thanks for showing us how to, and sometimes how not to, build models.
Applause Applause Standing Ovation Sir! Nailed it!! From the introduction to the finale. This has been an extremely enjoyable build series. Thank you for adding the TMP Enterprise dockyard sequence music. Perfect way to wrap it up. I think I I will wait till you start the TOS regular season run version and see how you tackle that particularly with the Bussard lighting. You have brought honour to the studio model and the name ... ENTERPRISE.
WOW!!!! This thing is gorgeous. I watched the whole build series, and I don't think I have half the patience to complete such a daunting kit. Well done Boyd.
Beautiful Boyd. What a crowning achievement. I'm so happy for you. Maybe someday I'll get the guts to build one of my own. I'm learning a lot and now I've got a wonderful series to reference when I need. Thank you again for sharing this with us. It's so appreciated.
See... Now THIS is what I call "MUSEUM QUALITY" Modeling! I've been a modeler for over 50 yrs. and I've seen MANY builds of this model and THIS is EXQUISITE!!! :) WELL DONE! I will try my DAMNEDEST to get mine to look like this! :D
I swear from watching your build videos I impulse-purchased a USS Defiant Christmas ornament. I mean, it's not a model kit, but it's handsome. I just needed one of those ships near me, now! Excellent work!!
Well Sir Boyd, she sure is one beautiful lady and you must be so proud of the work you've put in on her and over the moon with the result, very inspiring :-)
AWESOME!! :-) When you showed the three in the dark, they look magnificent! It's kind of incredible to think that that is how these ships really would look in deep interstellar space - between stars, no light source to show off the shapes and colours, just the internal lighting/nacelles showing where they are! Gorgeous!
Perfect! Simply Perfect! This will be one of my builds once I can afford the add 0ns & accessories. I never knew you've only been doing this for 2 years. You are a true professional & your work is right up there with those who work in the industry. Good job! Boyd & thanks for sharing your secretes. Now take some time off cause you've earned it.
You've built this model with every single feature I wanted my model to have... (maybe except laser as phaser) This is so great! Amazing details, that lighting... True Masterpiece!
Been watching the build progress. Lots of hard work. Great finale! Really like the translucent aztecs. The lighting looks great. Deflector, nacelle registry numbers...everything! Well done! All 3 of em!
So wish I had discovered your build sites many years ago. I am enjoying catching up on your mnay amazing builds. Im a Star Trek fan since the beginning. ANd yes...the enterprise reveal in the first movie was breath taking! They did her justice.
Thanks for a really great series of videos. The end result is stunningly beautiful. I hope you keep making these films because they are an inspiration. I'm staying tuned!!
Wow Boyd...you really outdid yourself on this one. What a beautiful build. I really like how the deflector changes from yellow to blue and the sequence in which the lights come on. Very nice. Outstanding!
Excellent work; thank you for sharing. Just about everything you mention at the beginning of this finale mirrors my own thoughts and situation. I'm 48 and have been researching over the last couple of years about modeling in general and this refit in specific. I'm only now getting back into model building after more than 30 years away. This is a great help and inspiration for my own upcoming build. THANKS.
What can I say Boyd? Fantastic!!!!!! Your the best Star Trek modeler around. When you started off with the camera back away and it looked all white. Then you came in closer and all the Aztecs started showing and all the colors, Wow! I shared this video on my facebook page, I have a lot of modelers as friends so hopefully it will get around the community of modelers. Wow, wow, wow is all I can say buddy. :)
Amazing work, just amazing. This series of videos has been a wonderful pleasure to watch. Like many have said, there are quite a few great refit builds on youtube but the care and attention to detail on yours is just a step above the rest. Although I'm sad that this build is over, I look forward to more of your work. Congratulations on this womderful piece.
Standing ovation Boyd! Simply fantastic! All 3 ships together are just perfect. Project 350 was a success, and has ensured that history will never forget the name...Enterprise!
It's looks absolutely fantastic. You have done an amazing job. You have done it in such a way that it does not look like a toy. I wish I could build something like this. I love SyFy stuff although I am not a Trekkie. Watching this has got me to order the movie to watch again. I saw it years ago but want to see it again now. I agree I think the refit does look a better ship. Great job.
Caught up on this build. Totally amazed. Used to do some model building when I was younger but my eyesight has been steadily and progressively failing. It’s wonderful to see a true master at work. I’m truly amazed. Well done 👍
You've done some incredibly superb work here Boyd, and it shows. I was so impressed with the detailed quality of your work that I purchased a fully built Enterprise Refit ship model from FX Model company in Florida as I never had the model building skills and proper tools that you do. In fact, I've used my model is several of my personal blogs on my own website, Barry Taff.net. Keep up the great work Boyd, very much appreciated.
Outfreakingstanding! Your man hours have added up to an amazing achievement congratulations! It certainly has the wow factor. Theres only one problem i want to keep turning the light on and off cause its amazing in the light and dark! Keep 'em comin'
Fantastic! I watched and enjoyed the entire project series, but most notably this one. My favorite version of the big E. A job well done and congrats on finishing project 350! Catch ya on scifimodelaction forum.
Sorry, I didn't record the work on the travel pod. I just masked off the front window and painted it white. The detail is a decal set a friend sent me for it that doesn't come with the kit. The Fiber Optic Store is where I get mine. It's very in expensive and I would recommend you start with the .050 and go up and down one or two sizes so you have a good selection to work with.
no problem, i will admit that seeing the backlighting on the enterprise name on the warp engines(yea i know how to say it just not spell it lol) and my memory flashed back to watching it on VHS tape for the first time as a kid. my star trek was next generation, sitting in the living room with my parents watching the new episodes. and yes i am old enough to remember VHS something my kid will know nothing about lol.
The bay doors :-D ha! I Dre say this is studio quality. I lobe the effect with the polish. I was 4 when TMP came out, but I went and it was my first movie. I even had the happy meal that had the glasses and embroidered T-shirt :-)

It's perfect. It's bloody perfect. Best I've ever seen by far. Please don't stop doing this, Boyd! You owe it to Star Trek!
Quite an achievement to be able to produce models to such a professional standard after only 2 years experience. Outstanding Boyd !!

And I can't gush enough about the lighting, especially the ratheon effect. Just a million dollar model

Turned out really well. Seeing all three side by side is so majestic.
Thanks for sharing. (especially the tip with the canopy glue!)

The interior bits really takes the model to new heights ... especially the arboretum.

Awesome Boyd! Incredible work as always,
Thanks, there are some gorgeous builds out there to which I really respect.
Getting compared to some of those is quite an honor and very satisfying.
Thanks, I used to fly a lot of R/C and raced R/C cars for quite a while. Fun stuff.
Beautiful Job Boyd She Look's Just Like The Model Used In The Move !!!
Thanks Matt, I like the stand too. A little elbow grease spruced it right up.
That, looks, Phenomenal! Absolutely love it. Long been tempted to find someone in the UK to build one of these up for me to this spec!
I purchased this model 12 months ago and still haven’t been game to start it. Your model is amazing, very fine work.
Sorry, I didn't record the work on the travel pod. I just masked off the front window and painted it white. The detail is a decal set a friend sent me for it that doesn't come with the kit. That NX-01 looks pretty epic ... damn it, I think I need to get back into modeling ...
That looks absolutely beautiful, Boyd! You did a wonderful job on all three models! You should be proud!

Thanks Mattster, I hope your not freezing where you are. ;)
This build up is AWESOME!!!!!!!
What else can I say.

Those old school model makers from the movies are the bomb! They were truly geniuses to be able to make us believe in fantasy.
I'll be happy to build you one but it will not be in time for your b-day.
I'm quickly getting booked for months out already thanks to you guys!
no problem, i will admit that seeing the backlighting on the enterprise name on the warp engines(yea i know how to say it just not spell it lol) and my memory flashed back to watching it on VHS tape for the first time as a kid. my star trek was next generation, sitting in the living room with my parents watching the new episodes. and yes i am old enough to remember VHS something my kid will know nothing about lol.
Thanks buddy, you and the Mattster led they way and cleared the path. Much of this build was successful because of your efforts.
Congratulations on completing an awesome build, Boyd. The best refit I've seen yet!
Awesome I have a tos revell 1/500 enterprise off the kids this Christmas 2013 you've inspired me to pull out all the stops :)
Boyd your work is just amazing, am speechless at how beautiful the refit turned out. You truly are a master craftsman. Keep up the work !
Very nice, I'm envious. The extent of my skills is opening the box ...
Your paint is incredible!!!
The bay doors :-D ha! I Dre say this is studio quality. I lobe the effect with the polish. I was 4 when TMP came out, but I went and it was my first movie. I even had the happy meal that had the glasses and embroidered T-shirt :-)
Absolutely Beautiful !!! Thanks for all the tutorial vids.
Thanks :)
+TrekWorks Your welcome, I am going to build the A model in 1000 scale. I will be reviewing your videos for support. Thanks again.
