    This video helped my CPU now stay under 50’ C at all times. Thank you so much for this video, I followed every step and have had no problems. Will keep for future reference. Much thanks again as this helped me solve my problem. 🙏🏼

    Cant wait to get home to try this. Been gaming for months with the same CPU, i9-12900KF (32GB DDR5, 5200mhz), upgraded to a 4090, now all of a sudden the core temps go as high as 98°C when gaming.
    New thermal paste was added (360 AIO Thermaltake pump/ cooler) full system reset, and still CPU core gets too hot. Only thing i didnt do was undervolt it.

    • @triple8284
      @triple8284 Год назад +1

      Got the same speca as you, how did the undervolting of the cpu do ??

    • @Lord_Negatron
      @Lord_Negatron Год назад

      @@triple8284 forgot to say my motherboard is an MSI Z690 Pro Wifi-A. It helped a little but weird spikes would happen and the temps would stay high.
      So i went on Amazon and ordered a Thermal Grizzly contact bracket, Corsair “extreme” Thermal paste, and went into bios and turned off my smart fan curve, keeping all fans and pump at 100%.
      I get heat spikes but but overall the gaming temps are lower than they were before. Playing Cybperunk 2077 maxed out with Path tracing on, ive seen temps as low as 72°.
      Im no pro PC guy so doing it all myself, im pleased
      Undervolting alone didn’t solve my issues, but i would recommend anyway. These CPUs are heat monsters

    I lowered my voltage down to 1.17v with ZERO cost in performance and maxxing out at 70 degrees as opposed to before actually thermal throttling, literally all I did was go into throttle stop (superior to bios OC) and lowered voltage

    Just curious, what speeds do you run your 12900k at?
    I currently have e-cores disabled and p-cores all set to 4.6ghz
    I have my vcore set at 1.2v but based on the end of your video i should set that back to auto and just use an offset instead?

    I'm reading that it doesn't work with locked boards (660/760) and 12th gen CPUs. It will work for 13th and 14th, but for 12th gen you need a Z chipset.

    • @ImWateringPSUs
      @ImWateringPSUs  5 месяцев назад

      It does work with locked boards!

    • @lightisgreaterthandarkness
      @lightisgreaterthandarkness 7 часов назад

      Not true. I have a B660M Aorus Elite AX motherboard and I can do everything here in the video. The only thing you need a z chipset for is for "overclocking the cores" which I don't wanna do, hence why I opted for a B660M rather than a z690 or z790 mobo.
      I'm also running cool on a CoolerMaster PL360 Flux 360mm AIO watercooler. Makes all the difference in temps over a heatsink and fan combo...

    Also why the fuck would you disable e cores even if gaming, if the game you’re playing doesn’t require the power you’re giving it its offloaded to the E cores, the EFFICIENCY cores; you’re only increasing wattage disabling them

    • @ImWateringPSUs
      @ImWateringPSUs  9 месяцев назад

      In some games you’ll actually see a slight increase still, plus you can push the cache and the P-cores further without E-cores!

    Is there any reason to underclock this cpu while im running a 4090? as the 12900k probably bottlenecks?

    • @ImWateringPSUs
      @ImWateringPSUs  Год назад +1

      Power saving and temp saving mostly, there really isn't gonna be a noticeable performance drop!

    • @Tonba1
      @Tonba1 10 месяцев назад +2

      12900k wont bottle neck, and an undervolt isnt the same as an underclock

    Dud if you disable the ecores you are wasting money. Get a 12700kf.
    Something not stupid would be to lower the ecore speed to 3ghz. That alone lowers de consumption

    • @ImWateringPSUs
      @ImWateringPSUs  5 месяцев назад

      Weeeell the 12900K still is the better binned CPU though! In some games this really works :) But I’m not recommending everybody disables the e-cores

      Yes you can! And it will actually be better than just power limiting it!

    I’m getting an error when following these instructions. After I save and reboot (-0.050) it says “previous overclock settings failed” and gives me the option to press F1 or F2 or ALT + F1. It then takes me back to the MSI BIOS. 😢
    Edit:
    So to fix the error, I had to switch the mode from “Offset” or “adaptive + offset”. In your opinion, will this matter?

    • @ImWateringPSUs
      @ImWateringPSUs  Год назад +1

      It won’t matter, it’s just a difference depending on the BIOS and motherboard vendor. Enjoy your undervolt!

      @@ImWateringPSUsSame issue here, the setting failed. But i dont have the "adaptative + offset" option to solve it. Just auto / override Mode / offset mode. Any advice? Its an msi click bios 5, same as video but with red color. I9 12900 + msi meg z690 unify
